Freeborn is very very smart and so selfless. He makes sure he does his best to make you feel comfortable during the whole process from beginning to end. I came in with a severe herniation on my L2-L3 in my spine and it caused numbness/paralysis from my knee down and severe back pain. I waited about a month to see Freeborn because of insurances and the steps to take before seeing him. And the day finally came to consult with him and schedule something in then near future to get a procedure done because I wanted to get something done asap. He looks at my MRI'S and x Ray's and comes in and tells me I should of came in a lot sooner and asked me if I was free today because he would not let me leave today without a proceudre. He made calls to the ER next door and he cleared his Friday schedule for me so he could proceed to provide me with his services. I felt a huge amount of gratitude and aprriciate his consideration to do the procedure immediately. I was very happy Once surgery was done he made sure I was all good to go before sending me home. And now I am on the road to recovery. This is also my second procedure with Freeborn and both times he had made me feel comfortable about everything and assured I was going to be okay, which I was and am very satisfied. Yesterday after dealing with this pain for so long and this severe pain was disrupting my life, I went to his office to tell him. After the operation, my condition worsened, his secretary treated us badly, and the doctor came after waiting for me and my husband for an hour and ten minutes and said that I don't need surgery anymore and I should see another doctor. Of course, if I need surgery from now on, I won't come to them and I won't repeat this mistake, but they should answer right now that after all this time, my condition became much worse and finally he left. Disrespectfully left the room without saying goodbye. While he was very respectful when trying to convince me to do the surgery, I think this doctor is after money rather than caring about your treatment. I used to go to work before the surgery, but for two years. I am at home and I could not go back to work and I have mental and emotional problems. Before the surgery, I used to reduce my pain with painkillers, but now even with painkillers, my pain does not decrease and I spend every day with arm and neck pain. My advice to you is to go to this doctor if you want to have the worst surgery of your life.

Took them a week to call me back to tell me they needed my other doctor to order it. They said once it is ordered, they would schedule me. They ordered it promptly. I called them to let them know it was ordered and was told someone would call me back. No one called for over a week, so I called again. About a week later I got a call saying they didn't think it was the proper MRI scheduled, so I made sure and it was. I called again and they said the scheduler would call me back. It has now been almost 3 weeks, so I called yesterday and the person on the phone said someone would call me for sure yesterday. No call. I am done. He might be a good doc, but his staff are not doing their job.

I was discharged Wednesday with a prescription of OxyContin covering (Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday) running out midday Saturday. They told me that I needed to call for a refill if I was going to runout during the weekend. My Costco pharmacy is closed Sundays, so I called Thursday figuring Costco would receive the prescription Friday or Saturday. I waited until Saturday to call the pharmacy, & they had received an order for NALOXONE, but none for OxyContin. They said they often get prescriptions for NALOXONE with OxyContin, but that they didn't get a prescription for OxyContin. Dr. Lazar's office is closed on the weekend, so I can't call them until Monday morning after 9AM (& when I do call them) Costco probably won't be able to fill my prescription until late Monday/early Tuesday. So, I count my remaining number of tablets....14. My prescription was for 42 over 3 1/2 days, so I have enough for 15 hrs. I will be OUT tomorrow morning at 9AM. I have decided to cut my dosage in half, figuring that taking a little over 3 days is better than just stopping after 1 day. This is probably an over site on whomever entered the order, but it affects me more you might understand. 1/2 dose isn't nearly enough, now everything I do is with a lot of pain. I'm supposed to be walking around, but I'm very reluctant as everything I do is even more painful than when I was taking full dosage. This is the third time where something or someone from Dr. Lazar's office hasn't properly informed me correctly of something or whom hasn't followed through with making sure that a communication with my PCP and/or my insurance company. It took 3 weeks of me calling back & forth to my PCP's office & my insurance company before getting an authorization for surgery.....meanwhile I'm in pain waiting for a call. each time I had to initiate phone calls to try to figure out what happened.

As a former board certified anesthesiologist, he entered the field of pain management to provide multiple relief modalities to patients, depending on their individual needs and physical condition. I sought his care to extend my hiking years--degenerative changes in my knees 5 and 17 years after 2 routine orthoscopic meniscus surgeries had left me unable to hike more than a mile without pain. After review of MRIs and discussion of possible differential Dr Nelson almost painlessly extracted bone marrow from my hips and injected the specially spun down stem cells into both of my knees. 30 days later his PA, Sarah injected platelet rich plasma into both knees. That procedure was absolutely painless--thanks Sarah, you are amazing. The results have been phenomenal. Hiking, vagaries of weather affecting my knees, early morning stiffness have improved significantly. I can hike several miles now, and at 73 that works quite well for me.

Doctor # 2: Given outdated and unnecessary paperwork to complete (according to my insurance and the UW customer service)- haven't these people bothered to check in the last 4 years what papers are in patient care packets? Called in for a serious reaction after surgery- could be blood clots they said. Then said would set up appointment for procedure to check on possible clots (their words, "possible blood clots")....still waiting....sent email asking about appointment...still waiting on response. Guess I'll be going to the ER to get this checked on then? Why put the idea of blood clots in my mind and then drop the follow-up to get me seen for this life threatening condition? Customer representatives when you call into the clinic are rude, curt and useless. When I have been in the waiting room, have heard them taking about patients, mocking them and making fun. Shame on you making fun of sick people in pain.

The website promised coordinated care, same-day access, unhurried visits, and expertise in gender medicine. I was rural, disabled, and medically fragile, so I trusted her. That trust harmed me. The decline starting in 2024 was catastrophic. My blood pressure, critical with diabetes and kidney disease, went unmanaged for months. I repeatedly shared logs and asked for adjustments but was told to wait weeks or more. When she was away on one of her many unplanned extended leaves, I messaged her colleague, who immediately recognized and corrected the danger. BP management is basic primary care. Failing to control it shortens my lifespan. Prescription chaos was constant: refills late or wrong, doses increased by 50 percent when we had discussed 10, controlled meds in the wrong formulation and sent to the wrong pharmacy, leaving me without them during flares. In late 2024, I waited weeks for my estrogen refill only to learn she had prescribed unsafe oral progesterone, contraindicated given my family history of clots. These were life-and-death mistakes. In January 2025, I scheduled an appointment to align prescriptions with a new pharmacy and start a prior authorization for a med that keeps me out of the hospital. My experience with OPA Orthopedics was completely unacceptable…read more I was referred to OPA after a serious motorcycle accident on July 18 with multiple fractures that required orthopedic follow-up. They received my medical records and imaging, then lost my file. After more follow-up, I was told my records had also not been properly sent over for review, causing even more delay. Then, after weeks of waiting while I was recovering from broken bones, they finally determined that they do not even accept my insurance. So OPA lost my file, failed to process my records correctly, delayed the medical review, communicated poorly throughout the process, and then only after all of that figured out that they could not see me because of my insurance. That is an unacceptable level of incompetence for a medical office dealing with injured patients. This was not just an inconvenience. I needed timely orthopedic care after a major accident, and their administrative failures wasted weeks of my recovery. I would not recommend OPA Orthopedics based on my experience.

Fast forward to getting bill for my visits and I get 3 notifications for 1 bill - email text and hard copy. Trying to get that to just one notification (email) and yikes!! They use a 3rd party company (InstaMed) and between those 2 (OPA and InstaMed) I was told to call one and then the other and back again. I gave up, paid my bill directly with OPA and now hope to be done with them
