Burris Law

Burris Law

Burris Law helped me with my Mom's probate and estate. They are informative, extremely helpful,…read moreprompt, and understanding. Going through the probate process took a long time(2 and a half years) partial due to the nature of the courts and partially due to some more uncommon issues that came up. Including an existence of a trust, but being unable to locate a copy including finding the attorney who originally set up the trust and asking if they had any copies. Unfortunately, the trust was set up before computer records were common. Another problem they helped me with was SunRun decided, for reasons we were never able to figure out, to try to shut of service even after I had began the process of transferring everything into my name and was only then waiting on the deed for the house that I wouldn't have until probate was over. Getting a letter saying SunRun was going to deactivate my service for being overdue on payments while in the same letter saying I owed no money and was 0 days past due was confusing and was confusingto every SunRunemployeei spoke to and none could give me answers. Burris Law helped me tremendously with this and without their help I don't know what would have happened in the end. I can't say enough nice things about them. They sent me 2 small care packages during the process and it was really nice to get something positive in the mail during a time when I was getting anxiety every time the mail came. Even after probate has been over for a year they answer any questions I have that come up. Retaining their services was expensive, as it would have been for any probate attorney, and it was worth every cent. When I'm in a better spot I'll be back to set up my own trust with their help.

A comprehensive approach to trust creation! Estate Planning…read moreand Elder Law Firm created a detailed trust tailored to exactly meet our needs. Richard Seff provided a high level of expertise and created a trust that detailed the appropriate support for the beneficiaries without ambiguity. He provided clear explanations and guidance, addressed our concerns, and went through all the documents thoroughly answering our questions. We would highly recommend Estate Planning and Elder Law Firm services to anyone looking to establish a well-written, thorough living trust that addresses your specific needs and puts your mind at ease.

I contacted Richard S. yesterday to inquire about obtaining more information regarding a living…read moretrust for my parents. During the call, I explained that my parents had already scheduled an appointment with an independent LDA, and before I could finish explaining the situation, he abruptly interrupted me and said, "They want cheap. I'm not cheap," and then rudely hung up. The purpose of my call was specifically to explore having my parents work with an attorney instead of proceeding with the LDA, and I was prepared to pay for the legal services myself. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity to explain this before assumptions were made about my parents' intentions and the call was abruptly ended. I found the interaction extremely upsetting and unprofessional. Regardless of whether someone is a potential client, I believe every person deserves to be treated respectfully and given the opportunity to explain why they are calling. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending this attorney.

They conveniently offered everything I needed from start to finish. Lawanda guided me throughout the entire process, answering all of my questions with extensive knowledge of updated California laws. I had a terrible experience with Lawanda and her team. It's worth noting that she is a paralegal,…read morenot an attorney. This means that she can file the initial paperwork, etc for an eviction but if your case goes to court she has an attorney she works with that handles that leg. When I first spoke with her she gave me fairly unrealistic timelines about how quickly my case could be resolved which was disappointing but unfortunately not the worst of it. Even though I sent her an email, detailing exactly how much my tenant owed. The wrong amount ended up on the paperwork. This mistake wasn't caught until months later when we finally had our first court date. It was my deadbeat tenant who pointed out the error because she knew we'd have to start the process all over again. And we did. We literally have to start all over. Months in the process was lost and Lawanda refused to take any blame. She instead blamed my property manager but he wasn't the expert who was supposed to be triple checking all the legal filings, she was, and she didn't. This was a very expensive mistake that I had to pay for as it meant dismissing the case and starting again. If I continued working with her I was going to have to pay all the court filing fees again, she didn't even offer to waive those. I would've looked for other representation either way but accountability does actually count for something. But she took none. I hired Lawanda to pay attention to the details , she didn't and for that I paid dearly. Would not recommend her after my experience.
