Waited in a line of about 10 women to go to the bathroom. That's ridiculous... there needs to be more restrooms available for the amount of customers they have. Our cashier at the wine tent told us that if we kept our tab open we could charge it at the other two drink counters. When we went to another counter to get my husband a beer she said she couldn't and we had to go back and forth to charge our card, which was pretty inconvenient. So right out of the gate my first experience wasn't great. However, the grounds were beautiful! There was a band playing with a $10 cover, but we didn't go in there as we came at 430 and they close at 6. Had a guide take me on a private tour after his lady group was done. He said "they were supposed to pick grapes for the free wine, but these ladies were here for the free wine only and had the audacity to bring big goblets and tell me to fill it with no ice." Then the owner comes over he tells him this same story. They apparently use to offer unlimited refills but changed their policies.... FYI you sit in judgment for helping them with free labor. The one star is for trash talking the female groups that he takes out, apparently he word vomited to me so he doesn't get a bad review from them. Wondering how many people he expresses this to while walking right past the group and pointing the "Karen" which was her name out to me. SERIOUSLY?!?! read more

We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon, just days before the world stopped due to "Covid-19". The grounds are beautiful and this was such a great afternoon date day destination. The interior of the building is nicely set up and it's a fun environment to enjoy an afternoon of wine sampling. We each ordered a flite to get started. I know this is just supposed to be a sample and that's what was poured. My personal preference would have been for each glass to have had just a bit more of a sample. The staff were personable and offered solid suggestions on the different offerings. We enjoyed sampling many different varieties. I'm not all that much of a wine drinker, but do so on occasion to appease the boss. Plus with age I guess I'm coming to enjoy it a little more. The timing of our visiting here was funny because I just days earlier learned what a sommelier was. The place is definitely family run and operated. It's always good to know you're supporting the "little guy". There were three dogs roaming about inside during our visit. This was not a turnoff to us, but I mention it because I can see it could be for some. We had a fun afternoon and will definitely return once the current Covid craziness runs its course. read more

We loved SoLu for our Girls Day out and loved that we splurged for the reserved table for 6 which came with a complimentary drink for all of us. The table fee made for a hassle free afternoon; we often left as a group to grab a drink, dine and use the restroom knowing we could return to our reserved table! We went on Sunday July 9th and even during record breaking crowds we were able to meet owners TJ & his daughter Sophia as they beamed with pride with a few beads of sweat from working their asses off to make an unforgettable event for everyone in attendance. Wine, music, dogs... what could be better?! We absolutely love Solu! We highly recommend to all our friends and family. We love many of their wines but are not a fan of the meads. However they also offer beer, seltzers and mixed drinks so there is something for everyone. It is a very chill, family and dog friendly place. It is very public knowledge that there will be house dogs around so don't go if you really don't like dogs (but honestly who doesn't like dogs) We go with our two Golden Retrievers and kids and everyone has a great time! They do have plenty of seating but we often bring chairs and blanket too. The food available is a food truck (that is owned by Solu and always there). It is good and have never had anything we didn't like. We be beneficial to offer some healthier/lighter options in my opinion. The owner, TJ, is also so great! He goes above and beyond to make the customers happy. Also an owner who is always there on the property making sure his staff and customers are happy, you don't see that much anymore these days. Very nice venue for music. Lots of beer and wine options (including Sangria). When we went there was a food truck with lots of nice options (tacos, flatbread pizza, etc). They also had an inside tasting area with coolers of food to be purchased (cheese, sausage, etc). I am not a big fan of fruity wines so I stuck to beer, but everyone was having a nice time. Drove up to SoLu Sunday afternoon to get out of the house and a friend had recommended it. Very beautiful location! If you're not a dog person, like me, you might not appreciate dogs cruising around the tables and stopping to beg for food. Speaking of food, it is very limited (small pizzas, poutine and pretzels) the day we were there, and prepared by a food truck. We had the pepperoni pizza and it was very good. I would have preferred a healthy option. I enjoyed the live acoustical country music and the wine wasn't too bad. We were a little surprised to see that none of the employees had masks on and the sign inside the building read "masks optional". Optional? No, it's not! This made us uncomfortable but thought, we'll stay outside. In hindsight, now I'm nervous. SoLu - do the right thing and enforce the COVID mandate and mask your employees, wipe your tables and counters and keep an eye on your dogs. I would love to improve my review! read more

We tend to enjoy drier style wines and let our preference be known to the wine guy. He offered his suggestions to us and found him to be quite helpful. Not quite appropriate to host concerts during a pandemic. I mistakenly went on the weekend thinking it would be a nice outdoor activity on a quaint patio, but I got people packed like sardines and about 2 masks out of a hundred people. It was incredibly busy and understaffed, which I understand, but made me uncomfortable since service was indoors. I'd like to go again in the future but not sure I'm comfortable with the lack of safety and concern for the community. read more

The flatbread is more of a thin-crust pizza in the shape of a flatbread. GET THE BREAD PLATTER! The bread is so fresh and still warm. I first discovered this place late in 2022. I'm not a big wine guy, but they have beer and the atmosphere is fantastic. The live music and food truck are a blast. This place is just a fun, fun, fun place to hang out. Great outdoor patio and stage for summer tunes. They have a nice gift shop, too, if you're looking for Christmas gifts for the wine drinker. Some beautiful live-edge wine racks and charcuterie boards. This is an all-American/Country type of place. The mix of wine, music, good food, dogs, and sporting clays. One of their listed "values" is "True Country Freedom". If you go there, you'll know what that means. I can't wait to spend more time there next summer! My only recommendation would be to expand the beer selection a little. Maybe get a brewery going, too?? read more

Very nice grounds, like that there is frequent music. Been here 4-5 times and have yet to have the staff smile or be somewhat friendly. Yes, people want to taste the wine and ask questions. Also, I was there yesterday and people are allowed to bring their dogs to outside music. I had two different dogs not leashed sitting by me as I was eating. Keep your dog on a leash. It's rude and not everyone loves your dog. The Sangria is good, first wine I've ever enjoyed. When there is music you can also buy beer. Wines are pricey. Not the best stop on our wine tour. While the facility was nice and the grounds had a nice esthetic, the wine and mead was less than desirable. Maybe it's a pallet thing but it honestly it all tasted like vinegar to me. What a great find in this part of Wisconsin. My son is sort of a connoisseur of meads, so this was a perfect fit for him. We started by each trying a flight of 6 sampler. We each tried different wines and meads, and shared tastes with each other. We were able to try most of the different offerings between us. The employees were extremely knowledgeable about all the products, and were friendly and engaging in wine conversation. We asked a lot of questions, and learned quite a bit about their wine and mead manufacturing process. We also learned that there are only a handful of companies in Wisconsin that make real mead. After our tasting, we each had a full glass of one's we wanted to try more of. I had the wild ginger root mead. It was outstanding We learned that they are working on a few new recipes that are not yet on the menu. One of the employees was gracious enough to go and draw a sample from one of these barrels, and gave everyone in the room a small sample. It was so good, I can't wait to go back for a glass when it is finally ready. I'm not going to spoil the surprise by mentioning the flavor, but trust me, it is well worth the drive for you to come and try it. This was a wonderful way to spend part of an afternoon with my son. The quality of the product, the variety, and the welcoming and friendly employees will have us returning here frequently for a long time to come. read more

Possibly the nicest staff around! We showed up for a bachelorette party of 9 without a reservation. They immediately sat us in the back at our own bar and took our orders. Shelby was wonderful and very knowledgeable of the different wines. The dogs were adorable and friendly. We stayed for 2 1/2 hours and were not rushed at all. Could be a great venue for music and wine, but the owner and staff take absolutely no Covid 19 precautions. No staff in masks even inside the winery where it is mandatory in WI. People are milling about with no masks, tables are close together. Solu has acres and acres of land and could easy have spaced tables out allowing for social distancing. We go to Blind Horse in Kohler often where all staff are in masks, tables are spread out, and when someone vacates a table it is completely wiped down and sanitized. Basically the owner of Solu is saying F U to all of his customers. He is showing no concern for his customers or his staff. Someone needs to tell him that Covid 19 is not a hoax. Thanks but no thanks, we'll take our $100.00 per outing to Blind Horse. read more

Decided to venture out hoping to support local wineries and stock up on some wine for the fall. Went here as it seemed spacious and had an outdoor area. We left immediately. No mask enforcement, employees not wearing mask, and no social distancing protocols in place. Still pretty busy, so excellent location is you like to take risk and want to get COVID. read more

We went to see if we would later attend one of their music events. No signage alerted us to the seven dogs that are free on the property. When I entered the winery with my trained service dog, one of the wineries dogs charged at him and two others continuously interfered with his duties. One staff member half attempted to get the dogs to leave my service dog alone. The others did nothing. One staff member said the dogs are owned by the owner of the winery so basically if I didn't like it then too bad. I am contemplating reporting them for allowing the interference to happen. We also attempted to order a flight where everyone left us alone in the place. One staff member came in and instead of attending to us, started to restock the shelves. Also, their wine all tastes the same. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

As the other review notes, I was excited when we arrived. The grounds are beautiful, live music and a lot of people. The ambiance was obvious. The problem? The winemaker, or so he claimed to be, was arrogant, condescending and was the cause of lost business. To begin, as we were reviewing the wine list, he rudely grabbed the paper from my nieces hand and claimed she wasn't studying for a multiple choice test, this was a winery and she should relax. Yikes! Not a great way to start out. While I asked about the production of some of their products, I asked a question and he put his entire hand less than an inch from my mouth to shush me up! Wow! We would have loved to stay, have some crackers and cheese but when we asked about that we were reminded that he doesn't hire wait staff because, while customers like service, they don't tip well (I wonder why). So, as he stated, we were free to go pick some out and cut it ourselves. And this continued for the half hour we were there before we left. I think this winery has some potential but not with this guy behind the bar.
