I wish I could give the winery a higher score. I have been coming here since the 70s. And I have been going to the winery itself for many years. Although they do have a couple of good wines, most of their wines I find are either too sweet, or not up to par with other wineries around Wisconsin that I have tried. The last time we were there, there was a very small selection for the tastings that you could choose. It is changed a lot in the last few years. There are fewer wines to sample, and that's a bit disappointing. If you happen to like sweet wines, then I would suggest trying one of theirs. I think they do well with the sweet wines. It is just not something that I enjoy. And there used to be a place where you could sit next to the river and buy a bottle of wine and cheese and sit outside. Sadly, those days are gone because there's a restaurant there now. But I do believe they have a small spot on the parking lot side that you can sit at and enjoy. read more

I've really been looking forward to trying Cedar Creek but did not love their wine selection. We got a few flights of wine to try and didn't enjoy too many of them. They were all very sweet, even the dry flight, and very fruit forward. Service was great and we were able to order and get our flights quickly and it is a very cute area in downtown cedarburg. Fun place to try a few wines. They have 5 predetermined wines that they offer tasting of for 10 dollars. A good cross section of red/ white dry/sweet was provided. I would have like to picked my 5 but it was good nonetheless. The day I was there they featured the Beaujolias which is a red, the Belle Blue which is a blueberry wine, a Pinot Grigio which was delicious, the Wollersheim White which was just ok, and their Strawberry Blush which was my favorite of the 5. Shocked to discover that Wisconsin actually has wineries! I thought the soil and climate would be too hostile for growing wine grapes, but guess not. PROS: - Staff is super sweet, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our server was more than happy to answer all my questions about the wines, where the grapes are grown, etc. 10/10 customer service. - Rustic and charming atmosphere made for a casual tasting experience. It's fine to show up in a jeans and t-shirt here - Location! Cedar Creek is located right next to a river inside Cedarburg's downtown, and we wandered into the cute shops nearby after our tasting CONS: - As an admitted wine snob, I was not greatly impressed by Cedar Creeks' wines, but considering their wines cost around $10/bottle, I made sure to maintain realistic expectations. Some of their wines did mildly impress me (the Beau Blanc shocked me with its smokiness and hints of spice, leather, and tobacco!), but overall lack the complexity found in more sophisticated wines. Their popular wines are the dessert wines (Strawberry Blush), for obvious reasons -- they straight-up taste like spiked grape juice. FUN FACTS (that I learned while bothering my sommelier with questions): - Some of their grapes are imported from Washington and Upstate NY! - They have a sister winery in Madison, WI, where their vineyards are located. We stopped into Cedar Creek Winery just to have a peek and to do a little retail shopping. The place is really cute. Located in the huge vintage Cedar Creek Settlement building right on the water is very fitting. It's really spacious with plenty of room at the huge bar area to do some tasting. There is a nice rustic vibe that feels casual and relaxed. I love all the natural wood that made the room quite comfortable. We wandered around and I found some cute things for gifts. My friends picked up a few items too. I think the price point is right where it should be. Everything seemed very reasonable and a great value. I must say the several staff members working the afternoon we wandered in were not overly welcoming. I didn't hear a "Hello" or a "Can I help you?". That's ok. We still had a nice visit to the retail shop. I would definitely return for a proper tasting. read more

I hate to leave a negative review because the people were SO NICE, but oooff-we did not like these wines. The ones with the most fun names were sweet, syrupy, and probably just what you'd expect from a Wisconsin winery. The ones with more gravitas just lacked in depth. On the other hand, they served a warm Christmastime mulled wine the day that we were there, and that wasn't bad. So...just go in with the right expectations. It's not Napa. It's a cute place to visit around the holidays to stop in, have a chat with the kind employees, snap some photos, and drink some of the warm stuff. read more

Great place for shopping and wine tasting. Start off with complimentary wine tasting and add $1/taste afterward really let's you get to explore their wine menu and enjoy the tastings. The offered wines were all good and we left with a bottle of one of the complimentary (Christmas blush) and one of the extra tastings ("little brother" French wine). I came back to this winery again because I had such a good experience the first time. This time we decided to go on the wine tour which was pretty standard but a neat experience. We were able to sample some wines with the tour and have a few more to taste afterwards. The staff is always very friendly - it is one of my favorite wineries in the area! The wines are a great price ~$10-$15 depending on which wine you decide. The cranberry blush, pearadise, and the waterfall resiling are very good. The Cedar Creek winery is so cute! You are bound to find your new favorite wine here. They make many of the wines on site in the lower level of the winery. The others are made at the sister winery, Wollersheim, in Prairie du Sac, WI. Seasonal wines are available. I absolutely love the Strawberry Wine. It is released the end of April/beginning of May and available until it is sold out, which is generally the 4th of July or sooner. You maybe able to find it in local liquor shops or grocery stores like the Mequon Piggly Wiggly after the Winery is sold out for the season. It is so delicious and refreshing - perfect for a summertime cookout! The flavor is slightly different from year to year because the harvest of grapes and strawberries is going to be slightly different year to year (I think that is so cool because it really makes it a "limited edition" wine). The holiday wines are released mid/late October and are also very good. The Cedarburg Spice is perfect for the holidays - you can drink it room temperature or warmed up, and tastes like Christmas in a glass! Make sure you come here with time to spare. They offer wine tours for a few dollars, and complimentary wine tasting. They usually have some samples of cheeses and/or cheese spreads as well. The cranberry blush cheese spread is amazing!!! It also freezes well. The fudge cheese is also superb and makes for an amazing and unique gift. Besides wine, cheese, and other little snacky items, there are also beautiful wine glasses, wine racks, and other accessories for sale. The winery is located in the Cedar Creek Settlement, which is home to 3 floors of cute little boutique shops and the Creme and Crepe Cafe. All of the wines are very reasonably priced for the quality. You can also join the case club - for free - and receive a discount on cases as well as invitations to future special events. The winery is always a go-to spot during the local Cedarburg festivals such as Strawberry Fest in June and Wine & Harvest Fest in September. However, I recommend visiting the winery at any other time of the year to really enjoy what the winery has to offer and to sample the wines (there is no sampling during festivals). I am already looking forward to next year's Strawberry Wine! read more

Nothing to wine about here! Spent a lovely afternoon taking the Cedar Creek Winery tour & sampling wines. The tour is only $5- it takes about 45 minutes and then you do a wine sampling at the end. The facilities are a bit small, as a lot of their operations seem to happen at their sister winery (Wollersheim Winery), but it's a great setting and our guide was very informative. I learned a lot of new wine info on the tour! My favorite part was definitely the tasting. We sampled 6 wines- 4 that our tour guide picked out for us and 2 of our own selection. Our tour guide walked us through the tasting, ensuring we enjoyed the flavors and smells of our wine. He helped us learn about their selection of wines, as well as about our own wine tastes! Cedar Creek Winery is a cute winery in downtown Cedarburg. It is located in a limestone building built in the 1860's. The limestone helps regulate the temperature, which makes for a great wine cellar. They offer daily tours, which I'd highly recommend. It's $5 for an hour tour and that includes some wine sampling at the end. The tour gives information about Cedar Creek Winery, wine varieties and the wine making process. The winemaker at Cedar Creek is a 14th generation winemaker from France. The grapes used to make the wine come from Wisconsin, Washington State and New York State. The wines are reasonable: most of them are $10 per bottle, some of the reds are in the high teens. The wines are not Napa Valley wines, but are good for the price. My favorite was the Cranberry Blush. They blend white wine with 1% of Wisconsin cranberry juice. It's a little sweet and has a great flavor. I'd highly recommend going to Cedar Creek and going on the winery tour! And be sure to try the Cranberry Blush! read more

We spent NYE in Milwaukee this year and decided to visit this winery because it wasn't too far away. We are huge wine fans and the town that this place is in is really cute! The building is cool too. It's this large building with 3 floors that have small interesting shops. Anyways, back to the actual winery. We decided to do a tour. It was only $5 per person and lasted about 45 minutes. There was a short into video portion, and then a guide walked us through the wine making process. Our favorite part was being able to climb into this giant wine barrel through a tine hole. After the tour, there was a complementary wine tasting. Obviously, this is no Napa Valley but the wines were decent. We ended up buying one of their ports. Prices were reasonable. read more

I was a very frequent visitor to this winery after coming across it years ago. I'm from Chicago but made it a point to drive here monthly and stock up on my favorites. My boyfriend and I continued to do this during the pandemic just not as frequently. It's been about 4 months since we were here so we took the drive up on Saturday to do a wine tasting and stock up. Unfortunately this visit went VERY different. We are from chicago and we walked in wearing masks and were immediately stared at not only by other patrons but by the staff members as well. We were not greeted upon entering like we have always been but we did notice every other person who walked in was greeted with such kindness. When we checked out the two ladies barely said a word to us besides our total. They didn't ask if we were members, which we are, so we didn't get our additional discount for being members. I'm not sure why covid has become so political but it is a shame that it has become a way of how you treat paying customers. I'm very sad to say this experience left me very uncomfortable and upset enough to where I will no longer be visiting after having so many wonderful experiences before. read more

I was looking forward to trying this winery. The pictures make it look quaint and cheerful and dogs are allowed in the outside seating area. When we got there we found a run-down collection of tables off a gravel driveway, it's self service, when I asked about a cheese plate I was pointed towards a refrigerator with packaged cheese curds and large plastic wrapped wedges of cheese for sale. The wine is pre-selected and served in NyQuil sized plastic medicine cups, except for one poured into a 2 ounce wine glass.Three of the 5 wines were pre poured, taken out of a refrigerator on a small plastic tray. There are also several antique shops, and those brought back a lot of nostalgia for me. There was one shop owner in particular who was a complete doll; my best friend and I were ogling a pair of amazing antique chairs fit for royalty, which were also topped with a "DO NOT SIT" sign, and the woman not only let us sit on them but insisted on it, so she could take a picture. I'm glad she did, because it's one of my favorite photos of us in 15 years. The wine-tasting itself was good - I really enjoyed the ones I tried, even a white (which I'm normally not a fan of). Given the tasting was free, I bought some wine from the shop to sort of say "thank you" for all the fun we had perusing the building top to bottom. The outdoor patio is also beautiful. The scenery, everything, is just lovely. We didn't want to leave. It's one of those places where you can just sit and soak up the universe without even saying a word and still have the best time. Cedarburg is a beautiful town to spend the day, and this winery is a must-visit. I've been counting down the days until my best friend and I can go again since the moment we started driving back home. It's the first thing on our to-do list when I'm back in town -- I can't wait! If you are a wine lover and in the Cedarburg area, you have got to stop here! Has been there forever and is truly a Cedarburg staple. Very cool looking winery both the exterior and interior. They also offer wine tours which I did not participate in, but I think that would be cool! There is a good variety of stuff there. Different wines, cheese spreads, and a nice tasting area. My favorite part was the tasting area. The man and woman working behind the counter were super friendly and welcoming. We got to try four samples, no charge which I think is super generous. I can't exactly remember which ones I tried but I liked all of them. If I were there in fall or winter, I definitely would have bought the Cedarburg spice wine because it totally fits the season. I decided on the Cabernet, thought it was the best of the ones I tried. Also not incredibly pricey which was great! Totally recommend this place :) read more

(Disclosure - I am visiting from AZ and have a home in Sonoita, AZ - AZ Wine Country surrounded by 14 of AZ's best wineries) Now - the tasting for like 4 wines was FREE! I am not sure if I have ever been to a winery with a free tasting. After 4 then it was $1.00 per taste...What a bargain!! In addition, their wine prices were absolutely awesome! Have not been here 10yrs or so. Not a good experience. Went to sample some new wines listed on the tasting list. We were told of the five we picked, Three did not have open bottles for tasting. I asked the young lady helping us about opening those three and she asked the gentleman that seemed to be in charge. He was rather short and gruff when he said No bottles will be opened. WAIT.. These wines are on your tasting list but I can't sample them. How do I know if I'll like them to buy them. Sorry, but there are other Wineries out there that deliver with tastings. This place is just lovely! Local Wisconsin made wines, sold in a cool building which also houses several other shops. And Connie is icing on the cake- fun, super friendly and quite a hoot. My friend and I very much enjoyed a free wine tasting. We sampled 5 different varieties: (seasonal) strawberry blush, Pinot Grigio, a cranberry variety, as well as a Rosé that is blended with brandy. They were all delicious! But I must say the seasonal strawberry blush is to die for. Absolutely delectable.
