I tried to access the patient portal. I explained why I couldn't over text to the customer service person, who was vague and did not answer my questions about how to access the patient portal. I tried to problem solve. I checked the patient portal FAQs and searched for some way to contact the patient portal help desk. I explained this to the customer service person at 4:30 pm (when I got the response) and later when the customer service person responded at 8:30 pm. The appointment the following day was scheduled for 8:30 am. Instead of helping me or directing me to how I could access the portal, the customer service person told me "This is the emergency after hours line for medical emergencies. Please cooperate and attend tomorrow's appointment. Good night." "Please cooperate" is not useful feedback if they are not going to tell me how I can cooperate. After reading the other 1 star reviews, which also talk about terrible customer service and a culture of blaming the patient and/or telling them what to do without listening, we did not attend the appointment. read more

Yelp deleted my review and I believe so strongly that no one should see this doctor that I am posting it again. I have been seeing Dr. Shaikh for many years. She always listened to me and spent a lot of time with me to understand my issues. I loved her integrative outlook on health: exercise, chiropractic, physiotherapy, etc. I can no longer recommend her to anyone. In one visit she refused to listen to me, told me to see a therapist and work on my childhood traumas (thanks I already do), made me watch a 10-minute conspiracy video about 5G and COVID, told me not to wear my Apple Watch because it's magnetic, not to get the COVID vaccine because natural immunity is better (I have an autoimmune disease - was she joking?! NO!), and that I needed to go on disability for four weeks (and maybe forever) because I have carpal tunnel. I have since been fully vaccinated and have seen another doctor who does not believe my pain is caused by carpal tunnel and immediately referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. I have a ganglion cyst causing a lot of pain. Not only that but her chiropractor told me I could take my mask off during the height of COVID inside a treatment room and her mask was not tight fitting - she also gets frustrated with you when you don't understand what she's saying. I will be calling the medical network I was in to explain this as I believe she is causing great harm to the community. *Update: I had a 5mm ganglion cyst under the artery in my wrist which was causing my terrible pain. NOT carpal tunnel. Please, for the love of.. do not see this doctor. She has caused a lot of trouble for not only me, but the other physicians who treat me. read more

It is pretty hard for a Doctor to receive a low rating because most people would rather move on than leave a bad review, but Dr. Shaikh breaks all barriers. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Shaikh was so negative that I have to comment. In summary and in my opinion only: * The practice is dysfunctional and inefficient. (Admin does their best) * Dr. Shaikh is rude, overbearing, egotistical, controlling and opinionated. * Multiple, confusing and dysfunctional online portals * Doctors other than Shaikh appear to have very little autonomy which leads to you effectively not being treated by the person actually seeing you. For the record the admin staff and other practitioners at Soluna health are nice people. They have a fantastic Acupuncturist as well. Unfortunately Dr. Shaikh, in my opinion has absolutely the worst bedside manner of any Doctor I have experienced in my 67 years! Eg. When I was really sick with Covid at home early in my experience with her, Dr. Shaikh decided to pay a home visit. (Well thats nice I thought!) Unfortunately for some unknown reason, she couldn't find my house (hard to believe with Google directions) Instead, she got lost and left me a verbally abusive and angry voice mail saying she couldn't find my house because I must have given her an incorrect address and would be charging me for the visit! I immediately tried calling her back and also through the office but she wouldn't take the call and moved on. Of course with terrible Covid Symptoms I was really in need of care. Unfortunately I didn't get it that day! More recently, after a five day wait due to Thanksgiving and availability of a doctor at the practice, I presented myself with swollen glands+throat and also a CT scan showing a diagnosis of borderline bronchiectasis. I really felt by that stage that I had some serious ongoing bacterial infection and was literally begging for some immediate treatment with antibiotics. The doctor I saw (not Shaikh), tested for covid (I never got the results) and discussed the possibility of Amoxicillin but sent me on my way saying she would consult with Shaikh and let me know how to proceed, she also gave me a way to collect a sputum sample from my cough if possible. She did no other testing. 24 hours later I was informed that they wouldn't give me any Antibiotics until I was able to deliver a sample (from a deep, very unproductive cough). I knew I needed a different level of care so I decided to go to an alternative provider and was tested for Covid, RSV and Strep throat and received results in 45min. The result ws positive for strep and I was immediately given a solid antibiotic and feeling better writhing 36 hours! Thank goodness I decided to take my care into my own hands and go to what I believe is a much more functional competent health care provider other than Soluna Health. I have now changed to a PPO that will allow more flexibility and better choices when it comes to Primary care physicians. read more

allow me to begin by saying i called the regular phone line to leave a message after hours. dr shaikh herself answered the phone, and began lying and saying i called the emergency line. i attached photos as proof. dr shaikh, i hope you see this. dr shaikh perpetuates medical misinformation and will lie to your face. she also has the poorest bedside manner of any physician i have ever met ever. dr shaikh gave me false medical information and refused me treatment. they want you to book a million times and pay a million copays before actually helping you. she lied and told me that the ER cant test for c diff.... i must have more experience dealing with c diff than she does because i've been tested and treated for c diff at emergency rooms/hospitals before. she told me c diff isn't urgent, which is hilarious. the cdc classifies c diff as an urgent threat, and i have personally had dangerous and concerning blood work that has required me to be hospitalized due to c diff. i've completely passed out she demands respect but doesn't deserve any. how the hell is a yoga instructor supposed to do anything about the bacterial overgrowth in my gut ? this was her legit treatment plan. i had a c diff test end of august that came back positive and still have symptoms, and i've been waiting weeks to get treatment from soluna. maybe i should tell the next doctor who helps me with my c diff that they should try yoga and meditation instead she told me to not consume gluten but i have been tested for gluten allergy.. from what i'm gathering, it seems like their scam treatment plan is the same for everyone: yoga/meditation/therapy. as a new patient, she will try to talk you out of medication that you've been taking i think dr shaikh needs therapy. she seems like a complete narcissist. if you have actual medical problems, don't come here. if you're dealing with some stress but don't have anything physically going on, this could be a relaxing daycare center for you. but beware, appointments take forever (hours) because they dont respect your time. dr shaikh if you're reading this, you're a DOCTOR not the reincarnation of jesus christ. i've never had less respect for a doctor ever- even doctors that have severely misdiagnosed me due to having regular and acceptable bedside manner. i am appalled, shocked, and disgusted. i should have known from the other reviews that she would be like this her nurse practitioner elaine hanna was great. i really liked her. never had an issue with any other staff members read more

Dr Shaikh is exceptional. She emphasizes staying healthy rather than medical interventions. She will monitor your interactions with other doctors to make sure you receive the best possible care. Several years ago, I shattered my elbow in a fall. In the ER, a local surgeon saw me and I was expecting to have him perform the surgery. Dr Shaikh called me; she had made an appointment for me with an elbow specialist who is a team doctor for the Giants. She really cares about her patients. read more

Soluna Health is a gem in our community. I have been seeing Dr. Shaikh for years and am so glad I found her! She is a true healer - not only of the body but the mind and spirit as well. Every time I have seen Dr. Shaikh I feel seen, heard and cared for. She listens carefully and addresses me as a whole person, not just as separate body parts. On occasion I have been kept waiting for my appointment but based on my experience of being listened to so well by Dr. Shaikh I suspect she does this with all her patients and thus sometimes an appointment just takes longer. I don't mind waiting because her care is of such high quality. The online scheduler is confusing and clunky but I have called the office for help in scheduling and then all goes smoothly. The medical assistant (sorry, I forgot her name) has been with Soluna Health for years and is always friendly and helpful. I think this is a fantastic practice and the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. read more

Dr Naureen Shaikh of Soluna Health has the dubious distinction of charging me $120 for an appt I was unable to make on account of a health crisis which rendered me incapacitated the day of the appointment. Not only did the office charge me but they were entirely unsympathetic about my health crisis. Perhaps Dr Shaikh should not administer to those with health conditions which may prevent them from having to cancel their scheduled appointments. Because of my health issues, I have had to cancel under the 24 hour window with other doctors yet I have never been charged a fee on account of it. Further, there is no human interaction with this office. In setting the appointment everything had to be done on-line, including entering credit card information which is a requirement in order to schedule an appointment! Perhaps I can understand something like this with those without health insurance but my health insurance is superlative. Again, I have never come across this with any of my other doctors. Seems like Dr Shaikh and Soluna Health are more concerned with their finances than with the health and well-being of their patients. Even though they are literally down the street from me, I won't be gracing their doorstep and if you have health issues I would suggest you consider another physician. read more

Dr. Shaikh has been my doctor for over a decade! My absolute favorite thing about her is the way she is highly trained in Western medicine yet has a strong appreciation and understanding of other pathways of healing. She is always encouraging of less intrusive methods as a primary approach, which I especially loved with my children! I also love how generous Dr. Shaikh is. Before children, she used to be gone for one month each year to administer medical aid in impoverished global communities. And throughout the years, I have witnessed her reach out to elderly and low income as well as personlly administering to me after both my births with home visits the first two weeks! I cannot say enough how much love and trust I have in this doctor even though I come into the relationship with a great distrust of the medical/pharmaceutical world. I personally have never had a bad experience with the front desk or scheduling. Although appointments are encouraged to be done online, it is easy to do. I also like that all of my records are easily accessible online as well. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor and her ability to patiently listen and accurately diagnose issues. read more

I have known Dr. Naureen Shaikh to be a superb physician, who actually spends the time to not only go beyond what most physicians do in their regular practice, but perform some solid old fashioned doctoring: home visits to those who are immobile, and going above and beyond the call of duty for patients suffering from cancer and other diseases. She spends the time to figure out complex medical issues that other doctors and specialists can't get to grips with, and gives options and a range for care far outside western medicine. read more

I was greeted on arrival, received excellent care and was very happy with the experience. When I later received a billing for an item that should've been covered by my insurance. I immediately brought this to the attention of the office manager, who promptly reviewed the bill and resubmitted the claim to the insurer the same day. This time the insurer covered it without question. I am relieved to have someone in my corner when dealing with the healthcare bureaucracy which can be stressful to say the least. A lot of medical offices these days have lost the human connection and treat patients as statistics, but this place is not like that. They actually have service for geriatric homebound patients, which is pretty rare. They sent me a text reminder for my appointment the day before so i could've cancelled it without being charged the no-show, fee, but i showed up. Glad i did. read more

While I have no complaints about Dr. Shaikh's competence, I am furious with her front office and billing policy. I left a message canceling an appointment for my daughter several days before the appointment because of her work schedule. She was billed as a no show. We're being asked to provide proof that I made the call to avoid having my daughter's credit damaged. I called from my home land line, so I'm not sure how to get proof. And, to top it all off, the appointment I cancelled was a "no charge" appointment. Unbelievable. read more
