A young man came out and stated they would be happy to assist me. I am older and on a walker. One young man took my pulse ,another one took my blood pressure, while the third young man monitored. I felt so comfortable . Of course they made certain that I did not need medical care or to go the hospital. Thankfully my pressure was not terribly high and everything else was ok. They offered to walk me out and assured me if I needed assistance to call them. All three men were kind and helpful I felt well taken care of and they printed the results so I would have them for my doctor.

The replica statue has been in Solvang since 1976! I know that it used to be dry for a little while, but I am happy to report that while visiting last weekend, the water was flowing. The author of The Little Mermaid, Hans Christian Andersen, who is Danish is honored throughout Solvang with not only this fountain, but also a museum that is across the street. This statue shows The Little Mermaid with 2 legs and is also bronze. It is a beautiful statue and is definitely worth checking out if you are visiting Solvang. It stands at about 4 feet and since it is located on a street corner, it is completely free to check out!

5/27/24 Finally! I get to mail a postcard to Germany, straight from Solvang, California…read more It's closed today & I thought it would be completely closed. I was actually able to go in to mail it inside. The doors were open for post office boxes owners to be able to get their mail/small packages. It's clean. It is surprisingly larger than I thought it would be. This was a very quick pit stop and I'm glad that I was able to mail it from Solvang to make it to Germany.

It is listed as the 19th of 21 Spanish Missions in CA...founded in 1804 , completed in 1807. The mission contains a working Catholic Church, a chapel (closed on the weekends), beautiful gardens, cemetery, museum and gift shop. There is plenty of parking available. To take the self guided tour...enter the Gift Shop and pay the fee. Once paid, the Attendant will present you with a map and general directions and off you go! If you're there when there is a "service" in the Church, the museum door to the Church is locked so you'll need to enter the Church from its main entrance. The museum has lots of interesting items, but the collection of 15th century Vestments is stunning (a must see). The beautiful gardens have walking paths along which there are several small stone structures (Shrines) that are very picturesque and worth visiting. We spent at least 2.5 hours "taking it all in" and enjoyed this visit and the conversations it inspires tremendously. On this occasion...in this Yelper's opinion, the Old Mission Santa Ines surpassed expectations and delivered a powerful look in history past...truly earning this "if you have an interest, then take the time to see this" 5 Star Review.

The 3 towns that are neighbors there include: Buelton, Lompoc and of course the famous Danish Village called Solvang. What a nice experience we had. The office is conveniently located just to the west side of the freeway and a little north of main street. Charming seaside style two story building that houses many other business as well. The office is stocked with a great selection of brochures and fliers. The quality of the publications is top of the line. Beautiful pictures, excellent short articles and wonderful information. We even picked up a map of California that is rarely given away free these days other than at the Auto Club. The wonderful lady on duty suggested we would enjoy the drive towards the coast and towards Lompoc and Vandenberg. We did. What a pretty drive though nature and vineyards. Don't forget to drive in the other direction past Solvang to visit the San Ynez Valley too.

This wind harp is located at the Atterdag Village of Solvang care center where there's also a…read morenursing home. This originally topped one of the towers at the Danish Pavilion at San Francisco's 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. After the expo was over, the buildings were demolished and this wind harp was transported to its current location in Solvang. It plays peaceful music when the wind blows but it's not something I would go out of my way to visit. I was in, took a couple pictures, and left within minutes.
