Short version: pushy, small selection, and not helpful…read more I went to find a bra for my bridal gown. I didn't want anything fancy, just something comfortable that would work. I was hustled in to the back and told that the sales woman would be right back. She came back with a lace bustier, which was kind of what I wanted but not really. I told her and she said she'd have to order something so this would be better, and she also said I needed something in the cups to fill it up a little bit more. She came back with a little thing and said no, that's not right and came back with add-a-cup gel inserts. She told me that gave me cleavage she said I needed and they could take it in more so it would have more of a corset effect since I already had a small waist. I wanted none of these things and told her this but she didn't really seem to hear/listen and insisted that this is what I needed. I told her I'd have to think about it and she put the pressure on to make a sale that day, which made up my mind for me and I didn't purchase anything. I walked away bra-less, upset, overwhelmed, and fairly insulted that she was trying to make me in to Jessica Rabbit when that is not what I wanted. If you want to be falling out of your dress then this look would've worked but I'd rather keep some things in my dress...

I came in looking for an off-the-rack dress for a city hall ceremony followed by photos in Central Park. This was clearly outlined in my intake form and repeated multiple times during the appointment. Instead of being met with guidance, Aracely opened the appointment by telling me I had "done this the wrong way" by not shopping earlier and immediately set the tone that I would have little to no options. That is not helpful, and frankly not an appropriate way to speak to a bride at the start of what should be an exciting experience. What made it worse was that she didn't listen. Despite explaining my plans several times, she continued suggesting things that were completely irrelevant to my situation like bustles, dance floors, and reception entrances. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted to understand what was actually available off the rack so I could make a decision within those constraints, and that information was never clearly provided. The most unprofessional moment was overhearing Aracely call me "difficult" to my own mother while I was in the dressing room. My mother was understandably livid and had to step in to correct her, explaining that I am easygoing and just needed someone to actually help me navigate my options. Being spoken about that way, especially within earshot and to my mother of all people, was completely inappropriate. I made the trip from NYC specifically for this location because of its larger selection, and instead of leaving excited, I left upset and discouraged. This appointment completely changed the tone of my day. The dresses themselves were beautiful, but the experience was dismissive, unhelpful, and rude. Bridal appointments should feel supportive and collaborative. This was the opposite.

It was my first day of wedding dress shopping, and as a less than "girly" girl I was pleased to try on a lot of beautiful options that didn't make me feel like a cupcake. I also did not want the pushy bridal experience common in the NYC salons and most boutiques. They had over a dozen design options in my budget, which was amazing. Not worth taking off a star, but my only lament is to the color selections; all of the dresses I loved were marketed as rehearsal dinner or reception options, and were not available in white. I ended up buying a white Maggie Sottero gown and had it customized down the road at Sukran's Bridal (sorry, BHLDN!) Overall it was a great place for a first shopping experience to discover the shapes, styles, and colors I was interested in, and take some fun pictures for my friends and family.
