My friend took me to a Yin restorative class at SOMA since I was in town visiting and I loved it. We walked to the studio which is located on a Main Street in North End and there was a lot of foot traffic outside around 6 pm on a weekday. As we walked in we were greeted with 3 flights of stairs before getting to the entrance. We love a little workout before moving lol. Upon entrance into the studio I immediately felt at home. I could definitely see myself hanging out at this studio if I lived in Boston. They have a retail space, lounge area, changing area, locker area, area with information about each instructor, and 2 studio rooms. The studio seemed as diverse as Boston is with a handful of POC in the studio while I was there. They have high ceilings, exposed brick and wood floors --it's really a vibe. They have ample amounts of props and class formats including yin, heated yoga and Pilates fusion. We enjoyed our yin class it was just a bit packed so you constantly had to watch where you were putting your arm. Overall I would recommend, it's a beautiful space. And a plus you can get dessert from the many bakeries that are within minutes of the yoga studio. read more

Beautiful studio I visited for a month while my husband was working at Tufts. Loved the space and variety of classes! Good "new student" price that met my needs, but I wish they didn't charge so much for borrowing a mat as someone who was visiting from out of state. read more

Visited a yoga class here while visiting from out of town. I did not enjoy it very much. It was a great room, but it was packed! I could barely move, and kicked the door open when I was lifting my leg in a down dog. That hurt! I found myself, in the middle of class, talking to myself in my head wishing the teacher would shut up and just get us moving. She talked way too much and would get too involved in hippy dippy speak after putting you in a position. I just wanted to move my body and there was very little of that happening. Lastly, I LOATHE places that charge for mat use. I'm an out of towner already paying way too much for a drop in, it's insulting to pay for mat use. Especially when I have to clean it afterwards. I do not think I would return to this place. read more

The teachers AND students at soma are both welcoming and encouraging. It is truly a community of the most uplifting energy. Soma has the sunniest and coziest studio in Boston. I moved to Boston just a year ago and have used soma to find my community and belonging. what a special place! read more
