I have been going to this bar for years and even now, I'm not consuming alcohol but I still come every week for karaoke on Thursday nights! My sister is the host and a great singer so you can pick a duet to sing with her, a song for yourself, or you can just ask her to sing a song for you if you're too shy! I've known the bartender, Michael, for years and he is amazing. I have never-ending Shirley Temples. There is a very nice smoking area outside that stays warm, even in the winter. They have drag shows upstairs on the weekends but I haven't been in years. Check them out! read more

Okay. This place might not be the fanciest gay bar in the world, but I've never had a bad time here. Then again, I usually have a good time when I'm drunk as a skunk. This is a small town gay bar. If you're looking for fancy & classy, take your ass to a major metropolitan city where the cover is in the double digits & so are the drink prices. The bar is located in downtown Evansville on Main Street, right off the Lloyd Expressway. I'm honestly not sure what was here before the bar but the building is very old. Walking in, you'll see the front counter to your left. There you'll get your ID checked & pay the $5 cover charge. The bar has two levels. On the bottom, ground floor level is a large bar, some tables & chairs, a smallish dance area, pool table, & bathrooms. There's also a door to go outside on the patio. The patio is basically a fenced in area with some tables. Upstairs you'll find a satellite bar, chairs & tables, bathrooms & drag stage. This upstairs area is lovingly called THE MAGNOLIA ROOM. The drag shows feature different levels of talent. The drag shows here are long in my opinion. I'm used to a 45 minute show. The last one I saw here started at 11:30pm & lasted until 1:45am. The performers really do entertain the crowd. They actually move around & work for the tips. Remember to tip! The drinks at the bar are usually okay. I wouldn't say amazing but the prices aren't too high at all. I think depending on who the bartender is, the price can fluctuate. The bar used to allow smoking throughout, but it's now non-smoking which is nice. I didn't really mind the smoke but it's nice to not reek of it when you leave. The building being so old, the bathrooms are a little small & odd. The doors to the stalls are small & I think even one of them upstairs didn't have a door. I'm glad my bladder isn't shy when I'm intoxicated. Overall this is a place to experience. It's not the grandest gay bar but the people who work & entertain here give it their all. It's nice to see a small town (I know Evansville is 3rd largest in Indiana but you know what I mean) with such a busy gay bar on the weekends. read more

I defintely love that this place exists here because the LGBTQ community in this area needs a place to socialize and be themselves without fear of persecution. However, I wish there were more such places around that aren't bars full of drunk, horny people.... lol I never really care to go back there these days, now that I'm older. The first few years of going there after turning 21 were.... interesting, to say the least... but I'm over it. Some people get their thrills there but it's just not my thing anymore. I outgrew it. Like I said, Evansville's gay community does at least need a place like this so I'm glad it has stuck around unlike the other ones that are long gone. :/ read more

A gay bar in southern indiana; what a concept. It is kind of tragic but it all depends on what lens it is you're looking through. If you're living in indiana and have not experienced anything else it's not that bad. Though when you put it up against Apex in Washington or Vlada in New York it is quite tragic and should be demolished to make way for a new Crate & Barrell outpost. The drinks are cheap and you will know EVERYONE and if they dont know you/hate you they will creat fun gossip and pass it around evansville like some plague. There is a small cover somehow and there is a small dancefloor on the ground level. If you keep on walking back you will find a pool table, and extremely cruisy bathroom, and a patio out back which can be really nice. If you go right you will find a door and some stairs and make your way to the top to find one of the worse drag shows ever experienced in a 300 mile radius. They're all hideous and fat and think they're the next Leanne Rhymes. The drinks are cheap and its kinda like Cheers where everyone knows your name. WOW. How many drunken nights have I had here? Quite a few. Every time I go back home to Southern Indiana, my friends and I head out for a night in Evansville. These people are the nicest and we have so much fun with the other people that come too. Everyone is always laughing, giggling, boozing and just all around having a great time. No one here is snooty or a complete douche and it's addictive to just keep spending, because the drinks are so well-made! Don't get too crazy on the vodka cranberries or the AMFs, because you'l sure be throwing up and begging for Advil in the morning while trying to chug gallons of water! But you won't regret if you do get too crazy though, because that is just how much fun you will have! Thanks SPE for providing many memories and smiles. :') read more

Not worth it, they charge a cover starting at 9pm even though the show doesn't start until 11:30pm. There were 5 people there and they wanted a cover...sorry no thanks. read more

Ahh, the tragedy, Ahh the comedy that is Someplace Else. I have to admit that this was the first "alternative lifestyles" bar I ever went to. When I was 21 and home from college. I remember getting funky on the dance floor to NIN and Alanis Morissette (Am I dating myself? I think so). In all honesty, this place is a little tragic. I hate to say it, but I must. Its a little dirty and the clientele is a mixed bag to say the least. And, for god's sake, would it kill them to play some decent music. I mean, come on. That sh*t is awful! Oh, and only go here if you would like to die of second-hand smoke. Having said that, I give it props for flying it's rainbow flag in downtown Evans-patch. Also, the drag show is a hoot. These queens put on a pretty good show considering their audience and what they have to work with. There is one in particular I get a kick out of every time I'm there. I wish I could remember her name. Oh, and If you are lucky, you might spot a local celebrity (I use the term "celebrity" loosely). Oh, and what's with all the straighties? I mean isn't Harpole's still open down the street? I guess you can't keep a bar open in Evansville without the straight dollar. Oh well. 3 stars for being a gay place in a non-gay town. read more

This is the first gay bar I've ever been to! We had already missed the drag show but there was still plenty of dancing late into the night! Everyone was all smiles and lots of fun. At one point during the rainy night a girl came in wearing a Tigger costume and no one batted an eye! I had a great time drinking and dancing with friends and strangers and for a hole in the wall, this made a good impression on me for what Evansville has to offer that's a little bit more alternative. read more

We heard fabulous reviews about this bar and it all came true. The entertainment was great! The owner was walking around as shot girl with delicious gummy bears soaked in alcohol. So tasty! Not often you see the owner in the thick of it all working just as hard.... if not harder then everyone else. Gay and straight friendly. Bigger then I expected. Thanks for a good time. read more
