I have had this one on the list for a while now because of the reviews... I was excited to take a spontaneous road trip to Evansville yesterday and finally check it out! We parked in front of the restaurant, and were seated immediately. The inside is small, but they also have a nice little patio area if the weather is right. We chose to sit inside this time. The bar is nice as well. They were busy but the food and drinks come out quickly, so that helps. I started with the signature drink according to the server. It was called the lucky bucket, and it's a spicy strawberry margarita. It definitely has a kick to it, with good flavor. I ordered the special, which was a chicken Parmesan sandwich, made with a homemade marinara sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and banana peppers. It was delicious!!! My husband had the fried chicken club sandwich. They originally brought out the wrong sandwich for him, so the picture is of a different sandwich, but once corrected, he said it was good. He ate the other half of my sandwich and liked it better! We also shared the classic fries and a slice of the vanilla cheesecake with homemade berry compote for dessert. Great service. While traveling for work I was looking for a good place to treat myself. Based on the reviews this place looked promising and boy did it not disappoint.I ended up having dinner here two nights in a row! The first night I had a peanut butter smash burger that was amazing with a Ghirardelli slice of cake (sorry forgot to take pics I was too hungry ) But the second night I had the Steak Frites and a craft cocktail which was the perfect "last meal" of my trip. The server remembered me the second time and was so pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks on the outside and it very lively and full of life. The food is good. Service was timely. We didn't have mixed drinks today. I tried the peanut butter smash burger and spouse had the house salad with what appeared to be a Parmesan crusted chicken. Both were flavorful. They had some substitutions today due to a fire there recently. Lunch was approximately $12 per person for the things we had. Went to Samuel's while waiting for an event to start at the ford center, it is within walking distance which is very convenient. The food was amazing! We had truffle fries that were done perfectly in my mind, the truffle flavor was there but not so overpowering that it overwhelmed the dish. I had a smash burger, really good. Ingredients seemed fresh! My boyfriend got the chicken club and I was jealous!! It looked amazing. They don't offer gluten free buns, which is ok. They were willing to lettuce wrap my burger and that's a lot more than some places offer! Our waitress was a saint. The place was packed because of the event and she still managed to get us everything pretty quickly and refill drinks, etc. despite the chaos she still took the time to talk about what we should have as first time diners. Truly amazing! Like I said, the place was packed so we ended up sitting outside. I didn't see much of the inside. So other than the fact that this place has pretty limited seating, I can't really comment. It was very clean, and there was also a bar. Hands down the best meal we've had in a while! Samuels in Evansville absolutely delivered. My husband ordered the Sunshine Salad with grilled chicken and loved it. I had the Classic House Salad topped with Nashville hot chicken--the flavor was incredible and instantly reminded me of Firefly's back when they were open here. My only complaint? The croutons didn't quite match the rest of the dish. Our son had the steak frites and couldn't stop raving about it. The drinks were another standout--Thyme After Time and Gringo Bingo are must-tries and some of the best we've had locally in a long time. But then I got my BLT (SAMUEL'S DRESSED UP BLT - Berkshire bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, basil aioli, grilled sourdough) and it looked incredible, but there was something slightly off about the taste. I dont know if it was old oil/butter used to toast the bread, or if there was a cleaning agent that hadnt been thoroughly removed from the grill, but the sandwich was ever so slightly sour/bitter. I tasted my dining companions sandwich with similarly toasted bread and it was the same. So I am not sure. Maybe I hit an off day? Maybe it is supposed to taste that way? I know I probably should have said something but we were in a hurry and I did not want to make it into a Thing, so yeah that's partially on me.
