We hired Something Blue Photography for our destination wedding October 18. We had a small, intimate ceremony with our closest family and friends in the Spring Valley Nature Park in Schaumburg, IL. Conrad was our photographer and he knocked it out of the park! For months before the wedding, their whole team was professional and quick with responding to any questions I had. They were transparent and well-organized. We had two phone meetings to meet with Conrad before the big day. Even before the wedding, Conrad was so sweet and eager to shoot our Medieval wedding. His own excitement made me look forward to the wedding even more, since he genuinely wanted to be apart of it. He is so talented! And he went above and beyond on the day of by not only getting photos at the ceremony cabin, but ALSO traveled with us to Medieval Times (even waiting in line with us while we checked-in) so we could get interior photos. He captured the magic of our day! I've only seen a few sneak peeks of images (it's only been 4 days since the wedding!) and they are incredible, right out of a movie. I can't wait to see them all! Our experience with Something Blue has been excellent from engagement photos through our wedding. They were always communicative and collaborative, and the photos and video we've seen so far are stunning. When an illness came up, they were easily able to shift their coverage to make sure we still had two photographers and a videographer for the full time, which was a huge relief. Cannot recommend these guys enough! Our original wedding was schedule for May 2020 when Covid struck. we had to postpone 3 times and Something Blue could not have accommodated us any better. Hearing horror stories of couples losing out on thousands of dollars from wedding vendors who would not refund their money, wouldn't accommodate a change of date, or would vanish all together made us so thankful for having Something Blue by our side and allowing us to have peace of mind while going through all the changes. As far as the wedding day(s), we had 2. First we had a small back yard wedding with immediate family only during covid. Liz and Conrad were amazing. We did what we could with decorations but in the end, it was just a back yard, but Liz and Conrad made it look like a twenty thousand dollar venue with their pictures. The 2nd wedding was at our originally planned for venue and we once again had both Liz and Conrad. They captured the day perfectly. They were constantly coming up with great photo ideas that all turned out amazing. Probably my favorite part about hiring the Something Blue crew was we didn't have to ask them to do anything. They were always there for the best shots, came up with their own ideas, and best of all they blended in. A lot of photographers I see at weddings will stand right in the middle of everything to get a good shot disrupting the view of the guests and the flow of the wedding. Liz and Conrad were perfect in getting the best shots while also remaining incognito. Lastly, they are just great people. We've met at their studio a hand full of times now and every time we find ourselves getting lost in conversation with them. GORGEOUS PHOTOS. I hired Something Blue for my wedding photos after my husband and I had a terrible experience with another photographer. The photos from our first photographer came out so horrible. We were posed badly, the lighting was terrible (I am a little tanner then my husband) and we felt so awkward with our photographer throughout our first engagement session. Something Blue was completely different. Our photographers were Liz and Christy. Liz did our engagement session which turned out so beautiful! It was so easy being around Liz, she posed us great and had things to help us relax and laugh. Liz went around and found these gorgeous spots for us to take pictures in and we would be walking and Liz would stop us because she loved the light in a certain spot. Our pictures turned out amazing!!!!! Liz and Christy were so great during our wedding day as well. Our photos turned out amazing. They got so many beautiful shots in different areas at our wedding venue and these beautiful sunset photos that I absolutely adore. Although, we were rushed at a couple of points and I would've loved a couple more pictures of the reception room, the pictures were gorgeous, and Liz and Christy were AMAZING. We also hired Ashley for our day of coordinator. Ashley was so sweet and did an amazing job dealing with all of our vendors and creating a day of timeline. She helped set up our reception space so perfectly and had to deal with an uninvited guest and a bit of family drama. It was so worth it to hire her. Ashley, Liz and Christy were amazing! Post wedding update: From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank Something Blue enough for the INCREDIBLE job they did with our wedding pictures and video. Everything from our initial meeting to our engagement shoot downtown (and our mini-engagement session with the pup) to the wedding planning and finally the wedding day itself, was beyond our dreams. The pictures were ready SO quickly- the morning after our wedding, we even woke up to our first glimpse of the magic that was captured! Sneak-peeks were up within a week or so and the full gallery was complete shortly after. I continue to relive my wedding day again and again through every single picture and we are having the hardest time picking between them for our album! As a bride and groom, with all of the fun and excitement happening day-of, you are bound to miss so many of the details. Initially, we were more on the fence about videography but decided to include that as well. Honestly, it was one of the BEST decisions we could have made in regards to that day. We received a 60-second trailer, a fully edited video and the entire un-cut wedding video. I have watched the shorter videos countless times and when we watched the full video, our faces hurt from smiling the whole time. Something Blue truly captured every single moment and the videos allow us to relive the day any time we want. Liz took family photos for our extended family. She has 4 kids of her own, so had a really good understanding for our stubborn toddlers. She has a great artistic eye for lighting and backdrop. We got married on 10/19/2019 and used Something Blue for our photography and videography. We just received a "sneak peek" album of our photos and I am blown away! The pictures are absolutely beautiful. Conrad, Lindsay, Ryan and Vraj were so professional and made us feel so at ease in front of the camera. They scouted several locations for our wedding photos prior to arriving, which shows how dedicated they are to their job and each couple that they photograph. One of my favorite stories to tell about Liz is when she was taking my children's photos during a mini session. It was sooo fast. My kids were not really behaving that well and, when the shoot was over, I wondered how on earth she could have captured anything good. When I received the pics back they were gorgeous. Liz photographed my extended family during a very busy week right after Christmas, and she was incredibly flexible while we arranged a date (I'm from out of town but my parents live in Chicago). She was also extremely patient with our group of 3 families and 5 kids, allowing every combination of separate families, parents only, individuals, boy cousins dabbing, etc. Our photos turned out beautifully, and I was also so amazed that Liz gave us the entire gallery, instead of limiting us to only a few images as other photographers have done in the past. She also leaves the gallery up indefinitely, instead of closing it immediately, which is very stressful. Choosing Liz to photograph our wedding day was hands down one of the best decisions we made. Our venue, Makray Memorial Golf, had amazing pictures hung up that she has taken and recommended her to us as she is very familiar with photographing on the golf course! We didn't just chose Liz because she was a "Makray regular," but because every time we met with her she made us feel comfortable and relaxed...A photographer is essentially someone you get to spend most of your wedding day with and Liz is someone who we now consider a friend. Her and Conrad made sure to get in photos that we asked for, even if we didn't remember ourselves! For example, we were outside and Conrad sprinted inside remembering that we had a thank you sign that we wanted to use for a photo. Liz takes great pride in her work and had our beautiful sneak peak photos back to us in just over 24 hours! Some of the most breathtaking photos I have ever seen, with great quality. She responds back to emails very quickly and planned out the whole day with my husband and I before hand to make sure we felt at ease. My grandpa had to leave church early, and she made sure I got a picture with him before leaving. She didn't even know who all the guests were but she somehow made sure to get everyone important to us, and for that we are truly grateful. The day goes by so fast and Liz was like my personal coordinator making sure we stayed on track between the church and reception.
