THE ODDS ARE AGAINST the apex storybook discovery tales of rarities like JLAW, Michele Pfeiffer, Charlize Theron etc. so if you expect that to be your way in...it's not reality. I get cast and work in these markets: NYC (Netflix movies), Atlanta (Marvel/ABC), and Mid-Atlantic (Apple TV). I am new to the business (three years in) but I have been building a resume over time and there is no way I am going to compromise because I take my career seriously. There is no slack given in a highly competitive industry with a dearth of roles and a surplus of talent. He charges exorbitant prices and seems to be genuinely shocked when you question his fees. Color Portraits is a HORRIBLY run company!! My son's football company chose to use them for their…read morefootball pictures. I ordered a picture package and wanted to get their "ultimate poster" to give my son as a birthday gift. I made sure to order well in advance since part of the order was a gift. I received my son's picture package and there was an insert saying that other items in the order would arrive in a separate order. Several days later, I received a duplicate picture package order. I was very nervous that Color Portraits made a mistake and sent me 2 duplicate picture packages rather than sending me my 1 picture package and 1 ultimate poster. I decided to email them about the problem and received a response with the generic answer that they shipped my on a certain date and that it takes 7-10 days to arrive. I didn't think they understood my concern so I called during their business hours. I talked to the same woman that responded to my email and explained my situation and confirmed with her that I know I ordered the correct items because I have my confirmation email. After putting me on hold, she told me my ultimate poster order has been received and has been sent to their printing lab. After almost 2 weeks of not receiving the other part of my order, my husband calls customer service and spoke to a very rude man. He called me a liar and said they have no record of me contacting customer service (either emailing them or calling them) and said if we still want our poster, they'll print it and ship it when they can. We swiftly told them we wanted a refund immediately. I have never heard of a company that is so rude or uncooperative when they are the ones that are clearly at fault. I will tell my children's schools and any activity group they are involved not to use Color Portraits because of how unprofessional, rude, and dishonest they are.

Carol has her Masters in Wedding Photography through PPA but also does headshots, family sessions, and more! We loved having a mini engagement session to get to know her better, share our preferred posing styles, and see how beautifully she captured our small moments. Additionally, she met with us before our big day to understand what was most important for her to capture and how our wedding day was scheduled out. When the big day came, Carol went above and beyond to photograph every big and small moment. She adjusted us as needed but also let us organically react in each moment. Planning for the wedding, her communication was excellent (quick to respond, available when she said she would be, helpful). The day of the wedding, she did a great job- exactly as contracted. Unfortunately, post wedding, her professionalism was nonexistent. We received one email three months after the wedding and had every email and phone call ignored. Two weeks after the wedding, I wrote her an email inquiring on the possibility of a few early-release photos for thank you cards, but also told her I didn't expect them and just wanted to know if it was a possibility. No reply. Four weeks after the wedding I followed up with my inquiry just to see if we should wait or order our thank yous instead of wait for photos. No response. Two months after the wedding, with still no communication, I called and left her a voicemail asking her to get in touch with us. No response. Almost 3 months after the wedding, early October- still no word and we were actively checking obituaries in case something had happened to her and we weren't aware. At this point, I posted a FB post stating how upsetting it was to be worried - would we even get our photos? Should we be looking into legal back up? We were just at a complete loss. Within a few hours of the post, she sent us an email that apologized for the lack of communication, said she had been sick, and would have the rest of our photos within a week (there were about 120 photos uploaded to our gallery at that time). I thanked her right away via email. We checked our gallery every few days and had no new photos. Around two weeks later, I sent her an email requesting an updated timeline. No response. Finally, almost four months after the wedding, I sent her email asking her why she refused to meet the bare minimum professionalism of at least responding to us. No response, although not a surprise at this point. We finally noticed our photos were available in late November. Most of the photos are gorgeous. A few of them have poor editing (for example, the veil was being held up by someone, so she removed the person but the veil still looked like it was obviously being held up just by an invisible ghost). Still, most of the photos are phenomenal. According to our contract, we were supposed to receive a flash drive with the photos on them. I sent her an email inquiring about how we would receive the flash drive (will she mail it, should I pick it up, etc). Unsurprisingly, she never responded and we still do not have our flash drive. I wish I could say I am still a fan. I wish I could say that the quality of her work was worth the frustration and upset we felt post wedding. Unfortunately, professionalism is just as important as quality of work.

I wanted a lot of specific "city" shots that included the background and they were amazing! It rained on the day of the wedding and her team did an incredible job with efficiency in the rain, keeping me dry, staying positive (and keeping me positive), and being down to continue to take the shots I cared about the most outside - and still making them absolutely beautiful! I have a huge family and 24 groomsman/bridesmaids and they managed to capture great moments with all of them in a quick enough way we could still enjoy our day. We also took really fun night photos in the city that are amazing. Our details photos are AMAZING and they were so creative and incorporating different pieces and arranging them beautifully. Also did a great job capturing the setting so that we can look back on our venue and have those memories forever. Renata was with the groomsman in the morning and the boys LOVED her and had so much fun taking photos, which I think says a lot! I am not super comfortable in front of the camera but Alison did a great job making it fun for me and calming my nerves down, and cuing me to get some great moments. You spend ALOT of time with your photographer your wedding day, and having her by my side made the day better, calmer, and more fun.
