I recently went looking for wedding dresses and found this store amongst the Reading Bridal District shops. For my appointment, I had the last one of the day on a Wednesday and I was the only bride trying on dresses. They had quite a selection of dresses to try on and most were what I was looking for. The bridal stylist I worked with was Brigitta who was very patient and wonderful. She worked with me to understand what I liked in a dress and if I was not liking a feature. She took my opinion into consideration especially when out in front of my family I brought who had loud opinions. Online and from what I found, the dresses were all under $2,000 just as advertised. I unfortunately did not get my dress here but would definitely recommend this shop. read more

Even though we didn't get our dresses from here, it was a great part of our dress shopping experience. They were also able to accommodate both my fiancé and shopping at the same time but not wanting to see each other's dresses. Amazing staff who are friendly and knowledgeable! Booking an appointment was easy, and I received a call a few days before to confirm. I brought 4 family members to join me, and I would recommend not going any larger. The shop is small, and with three appointments running at once, it can get tight. However I don't think it the small space took away from my experience. It was neat to see what other women were trying on! If you want a space just for yourself, I would suggest looking elsewhere. However I think the personality of the staff and the amazing deals you will receive on the dresses alone should bring you in. I showed Maria my Pinterest page and she suggested a dress immediately. My party and I found about 5 more I wanted to try on and Maria and I went back to start trying on. I put Maria's recommendation on first and it was the one. I was in and out in 30 minutes. They added the final touches and suggested veils to see the final look. I was sold, and it was perfect. I came here with my sister when she was looking for a dress. It was far too crowded and no one acknowledged us for several minutes when we got there. At one point during her appointment there were five simultaneous appointments going on at once but only three pedestals and 7 total chairs. The owner/manager was rude and dismissive and seemed to really only care about the sale. The only bright spot in this day was the sales associate we worked with - Allie. She was great to work with and was so helpful for us and for my sister. Allie actually seemed to care about us finding a dress that worked and being happy with our selection. This is a discount shop so you don't really know ahead of time what the selection is going to be but even with the discount, I would go elsewhere. read more

I am so appreciative of the help I received at SNBB and so glad I bought my dress from this shop. I had started my day at Wendy's bridal, where I had the worst experience after saying that I wanted to ideally spend around $1000 on a dress (without doing much research on dresses prior). The consultant was very dismissive and told me I couldn't find anything in that range except clearance and seemed hesitant to even let me look or try on dresses, much less try on one was $1,200. When I went to SNBB next and explained what range I was ideally looking for, Georgia was extremely accommodating, had already had a couple dresses in mind based on my style preferences and then helped me pick out a couple dresses that weren't the style I described, but we both thought I should at least try. She did an amazing job in helping me feel comfortable as I was trying on dresses and making sure every detail of the dress was perfect as my friend took pictures of the dresses. Georgia is very knowledgeable about dresses and what looks good on brides and her opinions on how the dresses looked on me seemed very genuine. Same goes for the manager and two other bridal workers there who were also very friendly and helpful. While I had tried on a dress at Wendy's for $1,200 that I liked, when I left there I really wanted to find a better dress because I didn't want to give them my business after the consultant's poor treatment to me. Fortunately I found two dresses I liked much better at SNBB and felt extremely comfortable in the ending buying one a little over my price range at $1,300 and had that dress not been in the shop, I would've gladly bought the $1,400 dress that was also stunning. Both of these dresses that I ended up liking the best were not originally one of my style preferences, so I'm so glad Georgia encouraged me to go ahead and try them on after I saw them and thought maybe they could work. SNBB has such a beautiful and unique selection of dresses. After my purchase, the manager Victoria emailed me a few days later personally thanking me for buying a dress at the shop and to ask if I needed anything. My mom and I went shopping for my wedding dress a few weekends ago. They sell mostly off the rack dresses. My stylist decided that I could only wear a size 14 dress based off of my pant size. These dresses were all too big for me everywhere and I was not allowed to try on a smaller size. I went elsewhere and bought a dress in the style I tried on here and it was a size 8 and still needs to be taken in, in some areas. Found that they were not accommodating for my size since they had smaller dress size in the store. The website also states that all gowns are around $999 and almost all gowns I tried on were $200-400 more than what was posted online. read more

This was my sisters first stop wedding dress shopping. She is a small person and already insecure about her size. We pulled 2 dresses to try. Both were too large. My sister asked if they had clips, Amanda said yes, but made no move to get them. Then proceeded to rudely tell my sister that, due to her size, she probably wouldn't find anything to try on, not only in their store, but at any store in the entire strip. Yikes. My mom and I walked in here on a slow day and were greeted by an associate. She explained how their store was different and although they are mainly off-the-rack and pre-owned dresses, they have the "highest standards". Uhhh.... notsomuch. There was a pretty pisspoor selection and many of the gowns were dingy looking. The associate (don't know her name) was pretty pushy and did not listen AT ALL to my input about dresses. I'm having a beach wedding and she kept trying to get me into these huge, heavy ballgowns. There is no modesty as she made me strip down in the dressing room and kept the curtain open pretty much the whole time. It was very clear she was just going for the sale and didn't actually care what I thought. The store is also pretty dingy and dated. I walked in and was helped immediately. They did warn that they didn't want me to try on dresses that weren't at the top of my list because they only carry one of each dress. The girl helping me as AMAZING. She helped me find the correct undergarments (which no other store in the bridal district did) and focused on just me. I love my dress and even though another store told me it was an "old" style - I know no one else will be wearing it. Dresses are organized by size so you can easily know which dresses are your size. Their pricing is very reasonable due to how they are able to acquire their dresses. I came in to look around and there was one other bride in the store trying on dresses. The consultant told me she'd be right with me and to look around so I did. I didn't mind but 15 minutes later and I'm still just standing there waiting. If you can't help more than 1 person at a time then you should hire more staff. Half the store is off the rack and half is made to order. I left ad came back 20 minutes later and she asked me what my budget was and I showed her 3 dresses I wanted to try on. I visited Something New, Borrowed & Blue last weekend to find my wedding gown. My consultant, Emily, was very sweet, helpful, encouraging, and made my shopping experience truly wonderful. I was instructed to peruse the racks and pull any dresses I wanted to try. After trying on a total of 4 gowns, I said 'yes' to the very first one I put on! The store is pretty small inside and was decently busy and cramped when I got there, but everyone in the store was just friendly and excited. It felt like I had a massive entourage with me! Martha, the manager, helped me during my appointment. While they have a great selection and great prices, her customer service was very poor. She seemed grumpy. She told me I could only try on 4 dresses, and when I pulled a fifth dress she said "let me see if we have time before my next appointment." I felt very rushed. She also made a snarky comment to my mother after I told her (Martha) that I really liked the dress but we wanted to shop elsewhere. She said, "she really wants this dress but she's looking elsewhere to make YOU happy" as if it was my moms fault I wasn't buying the dress on the spot. I ended up going down the street to another off the rack store where they had much better customer service, and I ended up buying my dress there. I wouldn't recommend this place at all! I'll start off with the good: I worked with Jamie who was fantastic- super nice, fun and helpful. She helped me find my dress which was absolutely perfect! Most dresses at SNBB are sold as-is off the rack; however, I chose one that I could order directly from the manufacturer in my size. SNBB asked how much of a heel I would be wearing at the wedding (1 inch) and they took a measurement from shoulder to toe and supposedly ordered the dress to fit. Unfortunately, when I got the dress it was much too big and they said that I would either need to wear 4-inch heels or have the dress altered. They recommended Soheyla for my alterations (whom I absolutely LOVED), and told me I would get a discount if I mentioned that I was referred by SNBB. Well, Soheyla told me she hadn't been doing that discount for over a year, and in the end I had to pay upwards of $600 in alterations. When I called the manager of SNBB to ask for assistance in this funding, she claimed the entire situation was out of her hands and was frankly pretty rude about it. All in all, I would recommend SNBB only if you're on a tight budget and/or have time to sort through the racks- there are some hidden gems of dresses, and I was very happy with mine, but most of them look pretty cheep. read more

I'm actually really surprised by all these negative reviews, because my experience was nothing but wonderful here! I had an appointment for noon, but my previous appointment got out extremely early so I was here at least an hour (if not more) early. I was quickly greeted when I entered the store, and the girl greeting me explained that since I was early, they would try to help me, but due to being completely booked I may need to wait for my actual appointment, but I was welcome to look around at the dresses and make note of what I would like to try. A few minutes later, she came back and informed me they could actually take me right then so to start pulling whatever dresses I liked. I really liked that the store was organized by size (note these are all samples or consignment, so it's not like a traditional bridal gown store where they order for you - what you see is what you get). I had a wide selection of options in my size, which I was thrilled about. I also thought most of the dresses were of great quality. There were a few that maybe had been tried on a few too many times, but most were great! It did not take me long to find THE DRESS (I think it was maybe the 3rd one I tried). I had already been in another shop that had a front runner, but this one was no contest, and I was sold. The dress normally retails for about $2000 (it is an Allure Bridal gown), but was at the store for $999. However, when you buy your dress at your first appointment, they knock off another $100 AND give you a free veil (including cathedral length!!). They also were helpful on undergarment selections, so I bought the slip from them as well. I really think this store is well worth your while to visit - just make sure you make an appointment to guarantee you can try things on. I had great service, and I loved being able to walk right out with my dress rather than waiting months for it to come in. read more

I brought my daughter to Something New, Borrowed and Blue today to look for a wedding dress. I am recovering from stage 3 breast cancer and am employed by a non-profit. Needless to say, we had a tight budget. We were hopeful as this store is advertised as a discount bridal store. We were greeted by the owner and immediately felt very rushed even though we had an appointment. She quickly asked our budget and her demeanor changed when she realized we were limited to the lower end of their price range $500-600. She said they did not have many to choose from at that price. She directed us over to a rack in the corner and stepped away. She did not engage my daughter or my mom and I in any way. The other stores we had gone to, the sales associates were joyful, helpful, smiling and did everything to make my daughter feel special and beautiful, even on our limited budget. Wedding dress shopping can be intimidating and overwhelming when your funds are limited. I believe it's important for every soon to be bride to feel special, beautiful and excited about finding THE dress she will soon walk toward her husband in; the one she feels beautiful in. But unfortunately, this shop owner had my daughter in tears and feeling embarrassed within 20-25 of being in the store. She did not make dress suggestions, style suggestions, encourage any dress or offer any compliments when she tried on the few she did. As a mom, my heart broke. I've since read other reviews on this store of others who have had similar experiences; I wish I would have read them BEFORE going. Lesson learned. Fortunately, we found another store just a block away called BoChic Bridal Boutique that treated my daughter with the care and respect she deserves. She found a dress she loved for $600 (and it was tough as there were so many to choose from in our price range!), the shop owner was so sweet to my daughter, added to the joy and excitement of the day and even treated us to champagne to celebrate! I'm not usually one to post reviews but my hope is that this may help others from having this shop owner treat you or your daughter so poorly on what should otherwise be a beautiful and memorable day. After searching far too long for a dress and not finding "the one," I started to fear that I was just going to have to settle for one I wasn't super excited about. Early one morning, I decided to just stop by Something New Borrowed & Blue once they opened. I didn't have an appointment, I just wanted to see if they would allow me look at their dresses before I purchased something I didn't really want elsewhere. Martha welcomed me into the store and she was absolutely wonderful! She didn't make me feel guilty about just showing up and really treated me better and with more attention than I got at some shops where I did have an appointment. I was impressed with the various styles Something New Borrowed & Blue had and I was happy to find a number of dresses that I liked right away! Martha helped me every step of the way and was very patient. She did not pressure me at all and I found her to be a very calming source, which was especially nice after I had been stressing about a dress for so long. The first dress I tried on fit so well and I finally had the feeling of "this is it!" I tried on a few more, but ultimately bought the first dress. One of the best parts of Something New Borrowed & Blue was the price! I was shocked at what a deal I got, especially considering the detailing on the dress. I also really liked that I took the dress home that day so I didn't have to wait a ridiculously long time to get my dress and hope it fit like the ones I tried on. This place has a large selection so make an appointment and try on lots of dresses. The girl who helped me was very sweet and made the trying on process less stressful than I thought it would be. The store was quite crowded while I was trying on dresses, so be prepared to deal with that. Their website said that most of their dresses are less than $600. I don't know if I just have expensive taste or what, but I tried on eight dresses and only one was less than $600. The dress I liked the most was $899 (and the belt was $170 - but they said they've give me $20 off - thanks?) but the dress had several places where the lace had pulls and snags in it and there was also a spot on it. I spoke with the manager and she wouldn't budge on the price of the dress. Also, they WILL NOT hold a dress for you - not even for ten minutes. So I decided to let that dress go back on the rack and walk down the street to another place that had been recommended to me (message me and I'll tell you which one). I ended up finding a comparable dress at the other shop and it was less expensive and in better condition, and the consultant was much more fun, honest, and down-to-earth. SNBB is a fine establishment and you should probably check it out if you're a bride on a budget, but go in with the the understanding that they won't work with you on price (other than giving you a little off on an overpriced belt) and the consultants don't have a ton of experience and will tell you what you want to hear. Also, their sign outside says that you'll save 50-80%. Based on the tags that's not true. The dress I liked said it retailed for $1,200 but they wanted $900 and you could tell it had been tried on A LOT. But as I said, add this place to your list of stops...you very well may find something with their large selection. But make an appointment. read more

I was disappointed with my experience at Something New Borrowed & Blue. I had made the appointment online and received a confirmation email. Upon arriving at the store they said they didn't have my appointment for the day. I understand technology isn't always reliable, and the lady said I could shop quick. However the entire time I was "quickly shopping" she continued to bring up how I wasn't supposed to be there and didn't have an appointment. I was assigned someone to help, and she was very sweet and friendly! I felt as if I had to try something on so I quickly chose two. The store had a ton of people in there and it was hard to move among the racks of dresses and even find any to pull out. I am very petite and was told they had some smaller dress sizes. 95% of the dresses were size 10, which she told me I could buy and just have altered down to a 0. The racks were so close together that everyone was stepping on all of the dresses. My mother and future mother in law pulled out a few that were ripped or had major stains on them (brown stains on the front, sweat stains in the arm pits). I had been very hopeful that I would be able to find a perfect dress here, but upon arriving couldn't wait to leave for the anxiety it caused. read more

I had such a great experience at SNBB. My consultant, Jami, was amazing. She met me right away and told me which racks would be best in terms of size. She offered great suggestions for my style, but also what would flatter my body the most. It was so refreshing to actually try on dresses that fit! Size 10-12 samples at other shops were way too large to visualize how they should fit. Jami encouraged me to try on one of the dresses I had pulled that I was unsure about, and it ended up being the one! She was so incredibly helpful with how to style the dress, finding the perfect belt to match. She offered a great suggestion about adding a cap sleeve, which I never would have considered had she not brought it up! Never once did Jami make me feel rushed or pressured- she was incredibly sweet and helpful. I got an amazing deal on my dress, plus a free veil! I can't say enough good things about this place. They were awesome! I highly recommend this store! There was no pressure to make any decisions right then. I worked with Carly and she was great!! We walked into our appointment a little early and it was no problem. They explained the store to us and they had a pretty good selection of my size (16-18). Of course I ended up falling in love with the very first dress I tried on! I ended up leaving right then without buying the dress. I wanted to make sure it was the right one and went to my other appointments. Nothing compared! I went back to try on my dress and I cried! It was THE one! They helped me hold on parts so I could see what it would look like after alterations which really helped me visualize. They stood there holding my dress while my mom took a ton of photos. She sells all her dresses off the rack, as is. The gowns are gorgeous and affordable (most gowns were $399). If you know exactly what you are looking for and wear a size 8 then this is the store for you. Otherwise, the selection is limited. Do not go here. They are a shady business and are not very good at dealing with customers. They make the mistake and you pay for it. They should fix what they mess up on. The owner will say what ever, blah blah blah. If the customer says you messed up, as a owner you fix it. You make the customer happy, especially on someone's wedding day. I can bet if she had a daughter and this happened to her, she would have it fixed pronto. The owner needs to learn how to run a business and treat customers fairly. Even if this turns a few people away from the store that will make me happy, knowing you'll spend your money else where. read more
