Something is just off about this place. It's economical but the chiro experience is rather rushed and can be a hit or miss. If it's a miss, it can be pretty bad with months to recover. Around last May, I threw out my lower back while squatting at the gym. For a good portion of the summer, it was the worst pain I had ever felt in my back. Iced/stretched every day but the pain was relentless. I had gone to two other chiropractors; neither of which were really targeting my exact spot of pain. It was starting to make me worry that may need an MRI or more invasive remedies. So, I go here, since it's down the street from me. With only a brief explanation, Dr. Sommer felt my spot of pain and said it was inflamed. With how bad it apparently was, he was surprised I was even walking. No surprise there, but once he adjusted me the way I needed to be, we got two big cracks out of my hips. While my pain had improved over the summer and only had flared up every once in a while now, as soon as I stood up I could feel the difference. It's like you're back in your body, finally. Stephanie Blough is an amazing physical therapist she has a practice she rents space from Sommer chiropractic. She is not part of the chiropractor. She only treats two people at a time and works woth you for the full time along side her assistant. This is a VIP practice that truly listens and helps your not in a mill or a room with 50 people ( covid risk). All pt should be like this. They take most insurance my ortho referred to their own PT but I choose here ,this is a huge step up. All you need to do is take your PT referral to Stephanie and she will do wonders. I need to spread the word about this place, I've used doc sommers for years, last September I was in an accident where I was rear ended and flipped in the side of my vehicle. Apparently the result of the accident caused some slipped discs in my neck and back. I attempted to use another chiro, and that was a joke, I ended up by going to doc sommers and man was that the best decision. I went from being in misery to now back working in a physically demanding field of construction. Still some aches and pains but what a difference. They have expensive equipment to help manipulate and stretch out my spine reducing pressure and eliminating the radiating pain that I was experiencing. FYI, the other "doctor" didn't even have the equipment needed to straighten me out. It's not only for sports, they have rehab as well. First off, Dr. Sommers is a very approachable Dr who listens to you and your problem. He has helped me, my husband and daughter through all different types of problems. Our business is boot camp and it means being outside and running a lot. The folks we help are trying to lose weight after being sedentary for years - sometimes 10, 20 and 30+. Mentally they are ready for change but physically they overdo it and it can result in injuries. A lot of our clients have injuries from their younger years that they did not handle properly and they pop up suddenly causing so much pain! This is where Dr. Sommers has been an incredible help: to us and to our clients too. He has so much experience in sports related issues. He also knows that people need to get exercise and helps them adjust around injuries until they are healed and CAN do the activities 100%. I've lost count of how many people have gone to see him and then returned to camp with a good attitude about their recovery plan and then stuck with it because it WORKED. One suggestion to help him help you: try to identify where the pain is actually located. I like to google search "pain in knee" and get the anatomy of my knee then pinpoint where I think the pain is exactly. That can help Dr. Sommers (or any doctor for that matter) in diagnosing what's happened/happening to fix it. Also, I LOVE ROCK TAPE. On and off patient for years. Has definitely helped get rid of migraines at times; however, when I talked to him about my back pain he said, "that's what happens when you get older". I am only 45! Stopped going to him about a year ago because he started charging for Stim & heat! What?! So, instead of accepting my $10 co-pay through Kaiser & American Specialty Health as he's contracted/agreed to do, he made me sign a form saying that I would pay (I think) $35 for the visit! At the time I couldn't afford to go frequently that I even heard him talking to his aide that he "didn't want to fix me if I wasn't going to come a regular basis". He's probably helped other people (if they can afford it). But my experience was a terrible one.
