I only chose this hotel because it stated it had airport shuttle and breakfast . It is not listed prominently that that shuttle ends at 11:30pm. Not searching for that detail is on me but when I called to ask about the shuttle not knowing, no one picked up the phones. I called back 4 times standing late at night waiting. Finally got to hotel staff and although I would not call them rude, they were also not at all helpful. Once I arrived to the hotel the front desk guy was professional and I appreciated that. The "waterfront" name may sound good but it's very much giving extended stay. I wasn't expected luxury but I more motel-ish than I expected. The room was big and spacious and clean. It'll do the job for an overnight trip like mine but I'd suggest paying the extra $20 a night to stay somewhere a bit nicer with better customer service. I'll never cheat on Bonvoy again. read more

My family and I had a nice and cozy fall stay at Sonesta ES Suites.Our suite was super cute with a queen-size bed and sofa pull-out for the kids. The suite even had a fireplace we kept on the whole evening. It was the perfect warm, autumn vibe my family needed. My two kids absolutely loved it as it's been years since we've used a fireplace! My only complaint is there were a few crumbs on the kitchen floor when we arrived, but the staff came as soon as I called to sweep and they were apologetic and kind while doing so. Breakfast was great. We had sausage, scrambled eggs, cereal, and pancakes- which my kids got to layer on all the fun toppings. Syrup, sprinkles, and marshmallows, it was nuts! Overall, such a sweet and comfy family stay at Sonesta. I highly recommend this hotel! read more

This hotel lacks attention to detail for cleanliness. I wanted to try this location for the first time, usually stay at Hilton brand hotels. And well I will opt out of staying here Again. Especially for what they charge you. Sonesta Es Suites has crazy fees! $250 holding upon checking in is really unnecessary high! and it doesn't get returned immediately after checking out. Other hotels nearby charge $50 or $100 only! They also charge a $50-$55 early check in fee and late check out fee! I mean come on! This is the first hotel I stayed at that does this. If you're going to charge all these fees, we should expect immaculate experience. Upon checking in- the hallways had trash bags in front of some rooms. Housekeeping clearly walked by because coming in and out I saw the housekeeper working, and half a day later. The trash still sat! The elevator has peeling signs inside. The room- all the light switches and walls were dirty, the window had clearly not been cleaned- cob webs and spiders all around the window sill. Opened the window and closed immediately seeing spiders and had two mosquitoes enter. It looks like the hotel needs an exterminator to spray regularly. The staff at front desk aren't friendly, more robotic and they don't even smile. You're suppose to be greeting customers and they definitely don't make you feel warm and welcomed. Very poor quality experience and staff are less than helpful. Literally I've never seen staff care so little about their guest experience. I needed six dollars to do laundry and I asked if I could get cash back which they would not help me with. They do not have an ATM on site and directed me to the next hotel over ... however it didn't take my digital card. I never could get a solution. I liked how the suite included two separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a fridge. They had adjustable air conditioning and a sofa in case we had an extra guest. The front desk worker was nice and polite. What I didn't like was how dirty it was. In all of my towels I found thick, black hair folded inside. I know it's not mine bc I have bleached hair. Both bathrooms had sediment on the floor but I read other reviews that said they recently did renovations but they should've vacuumed the room before we used it. The dishes were dirty but we didn't end up using them. Our bathroom sink was clogged, the entire time we stayed there. We tried all we could to unclog it ourselves but couldn't. Nice place right on the waterfront! My room was a queen studio suite. It was spacious and had a comfortable bed, big screen tv, large microwave and a small kitchen with utensils, pots and pans, dish soap and dishwasher. It even had paper towels. The only issue with the room was the windows do not have screens. They open partially but it would be nice to have screens in them to keep pests from coming through the windows. The room was very clean - no issues at all with cleanliness! Initial check-in service was excellent but the day before leaving I received a call from the front desk claiming I did not have a card on file for incidentals. That was odd because I provided my credit card for incidentals during check-in. This was suspicious to me and left me with an unsettled feeling for my last night. There are other hotels on the waterfront - perhaps I should try a different hotel next time. read more

So after about a month of back and forth I was given a refund and an apology. I didn't give up I knew the error was on there end. It was only $88 but it was the fact that how many other does this happen too. Turns out It had been charge to another guest account. What I had been telling them the whole time. On another note. The housekeeper will not give you towels they make you go ask the front desk very unprofessional. After all the bad this is still a nice place to stay if you got the time to work with them. Rooms are clean, bedding is comfortable. Supplies are limited I don't think they check pot and pan inventory. I only had one pot. Good thing I bring my own cookware. This hotel was beautiful and had great perks but had alot of flaws. I was here for 35 days for relocation purposes and ive moved rooms three times. My first and second room had a bad gnat problem that management did not know how to fix. It was very uncomfortable and the gnats gave my dog anxiety, she would run and hide. This hotel also gave my dog fleas. Right before i moved to the hotel my dog was already evaluated and she did not have them. Management was rude he always seemed to have an attitude when i needed help and voiced my concerns. They advertised high speed internet but the internet DID NOT work. If you decide to stay at this hotel make sure your room is off of the first floor because thats where the bug problems are. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Sonesta ES Suites San Francisco Airport Oyster Point Waterfront. What should have been a simple late checkout request turned into a completely frustrating ordeal, thanks to poor communication and terrible management. I called the front desk at 8:14 AM to request a late checkout. The attendant was polite and assured me she could extend it until 12:00 PM. I thanked her and thought everything was settled. Then, at 11:19 AM, we were abruptly contacted by hotel staff who claimed no extension had been given. When I called the front desk for clarification, the same attendant said her supervisor told her we would now have to pay $55 for the late checkout -- completely backtracking on what was originally promised. I asked to speak to the supervisor, and after a long wait, I was connected to T. Johnson, the Operations Manager. Ms. Johnson showed zero professionalism. Instead of apologizing for the confusion or attempting to make things right, she coldly recited hotel policies and took no responsibility for the mishandling. She was completely dismissive and lacked basic customer service skills. It's honestly unacceptable for someone in her position to treat paying guests this way. This experience left a very bad impression. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and awful leadership at Sonesta ES Suites San Francisco Airport Oyster Point Waterfront. I will not be staying here again and I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking. There are far better hotels in the area that actually care about their guests. read more

I normally never write reviews but we had such a horrible experience that I felt like I needed to warn people. We came here as a family with our cat and the only reason we picked this hotel was because they were the only place that had a two bedroom suite available. We came on a Saturday, and on Tuesday we noticed our indoors cat had a flea infestation and we needed to see the vet which cost us a lot (see the picture of our cat with flea on her). They changed our room to another two bedroom suite but it wasn't cleaned at all (see the pictures of dirt throughout the whole room). We complained about it several times but they only came to clean the carpets, not the rest of the room. Next day, we noticed one of the family members had bedbug bites all over her body. We needed to change rooms again, but they didn't have a two bedroom suite available so we needed to stay in two one bedroom suites which we didn't initially agreed on. We have been trying to talk to the manager for a week but she never contacted us, even though we kept calling them and reminding them that we were waiting for the manager to call us. Clean, spacious, and great view of the bay! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that included a kitchen and 2 separate bathrooms. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook (pans, pots, spatulas). Dish soap is included but not a sponge. The dishwasher came with soap for about two rounds of washing. Restrooms are clean fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash attached to the bathtub wall. We stayed for two nights and both nights were very quite. The frequency of room cleaning is decreased to minimize contact but if you need any amenities you can just call downstairs and it will come within 10-15min. Breakfast was okay in terms of to-go. Some hotels are transitioning to full hot breakfast while this one is still offering to-go. The first day included hard boiled eggs, banana, muffin, and juice. The second day included an egg,cheese, sausage muffin, fruit, and juice. In addition, coffee and hot water are available during breakfast time. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a place near SF or South SF! read more

We like Residence Inn hotels for family travel so we can all stay in the same room, but with room to spread out--more bedrooms, more bathrooms, a kitchen in the room, a sofa bed. We like the included free breakfasts, too. Residence Inn hotels are usually pretty generic in style, but make up for it in comfort. Our room had nice, remodeled bathrooms, but the furniture had some wear and tear. The setting on the bay is lovely, and we enjoyed the walking trail. There are office buildings nearby with a few restaurants in their lobbies. This location is close to SFO airport--there is a free shuttle every 30 minutes or so. It's fairly close to downtown San Francisco by car or rideshare. There is a Caltrain station in walking distance. (You can hear the train from the rooms sometimes.) The BART station is farther away--probably not in walking distance. When you are getting dropped off or picked up, make sure the driver knows you are staying at the Residence Inn, not the Courtyard next door. read more

We picked this hotel because of the location. It was a lot less room than I was expecting for the price! Additionally, we like to sleep with the ac fan on to drown out all the outside noise, unfortunately, the fan was so loud (in the bedroom), that we were unable to sleep. This hotel states that it has free breakfast, normally for a Residence Inn, this consists of continental with a hot waffle bar and several beverage options. Please refer to the photo of the substitute offering during Covid-19. I was so disappointed because I was unable to eat any of it. I was also very irritated that the only beverage selection was a coffee bar. I don't drink coffee. My family and I had to stay here during the fires in August to get away from all the smoke we're having in the East Bay. We enjoyed a four night stay at the hotel which is in a beautiful area surrounded by businesses that are empty. This man that we could walk around the bay water and office buildings uninterrupted it without people due to the pandemic. We stayed in a two bedroom suite and had an ocean bay view. We enjoyed the cool Seabreeze and the smell of the fresh air and our walks around the bay. We brought our dog who also loved being there as well. Very spacious and nice living room and bedroom areas. Not much of a view from the windows...the coffee maker did not work well. Well, I am so devastated that this property is no longer a Marriott Residence Inn. In fact, it's not even part of the Marriott hotel brand at all anymore :-(. This building and the adjacent former Courtyard Marriott are now a brand called Sonesta ES, which I've never heard of. I used to come here three times per year for a nice writing retreat/getaway. It's on one of the more scenic sections of the Bay Trail. I can't imagine what possessed Marriott to let these two prime properties--in such a phenomenal, scenic location right on the Bay with plenty of wildlife--to sell these properties. So sad to see they are no longer Marriotts. That's too bad. I loved it here! read more

I keep meaning to send a thank you for the wonderful service here at the hotel. I'll be staying a year or longer and I'm about 7 months in with a corporate assignment. I mentioned that my husband also makes arrangements for conferences and community functions across the country, so we do often stay at a Marriott facility. There is a Director here, Ricky, that has been so kind and helpful and a perfect role-model for customer service. He is always very attentive to guests and owns any concerns. I've watching him over and over and anytime I have a concern, he is on it. He supervises the house staff and kitchen I think, but he reaches out to everyone. The cook here is also insanely good. I think his name is Donald not sure. The food is very good for simple hotel fare, with a variety of flavors, colors, options and something for everyone. Everything here is very well stocked. Personnel at this location are all excellent. Craig on nights has got to be the nicest overnight worker I've ever met, and I've met a lot! I work in hospitals all shifts as an executive leader and I have never seen anyone maintain a constant kind demeanor if I am heading out at 3 am or 7 am. He also is here on days when things are tight or there are calls out, I see him staying late with the same kind sweet response even though I know he must be exhausted. I hope he's getting his degree in management or moving up-- he's awesome and not afraid to go the extra mile. The desk staff are so polite and one in particular, I want to say Josephine, or Josephina I think? She is the sweetest. Never a harsh word or raised voice, handles everything with grace and kindness, assumes responsibility for everything and apologizes for the least thing like waiting a moment at the desk in line. Rarely happens because if someone sees another person waiting, they all jump. The dining staff and dinner, helping with food, offering assistance and support to anyone with issues carrying food. They always ask if I need help or do I need something not immediately available. Precious people smiling, and laughing, again-- never rude or dismissive. I also would like to say the hospitality staff here are amazing. Last Saturday, my rags were folded into lovely bows, the bathroom paper folded into pretty shapes, always an extra dishtowel, everything spotless. I've never had anything moved, taken, or not handled properly. The night security guard has offered to walk me if I need help. I expressed concern coming in late one night when I saw him leaning on a wall near the rear entrance, and I had to park near the dark. He saw my concern and said "No worries Ma'am. I'm here so you're safe," He was clearly wearing security clothes once he stepped into the light, smiled and continued moving around the building. It was late too-- not midnight but early morning. Still rounding and keeping his eye out, Latino-- I didn't ask his name. Last but not least, is a wonderful elderly man, Ely. Ely is often around the building working with his walkie-talkie. He will drop everything when I come to the door, open the door for me after rushing over, and wait for me when I have bags or other items. He has a smile and often bows a little, telling me "Your welcome, your welcome!" A true sweetheart, kind respectful, and just a jewel. I can't even keep track of all the names and faces in hospitality, security, or the desk area, Please thank the staff here and the big dogs in management for the excellent service and care in my home-away-from-home. This is a hidden hotel near the San Francisco International airport. I wanted to stay close and have access to a free airport shuttle after returning a rental car. Shuttles come by every 30 minutes to and from SFO. Front desk staff is awesome, upgraded me on the spot and provided extra amenities which was a bonus. The evening snack was dessert night with complimentary beer and wine. The room was very clean and I panicked when I heard two trains go by around 9 PM. The good news, they stop operating after 10 pm which gave me a restful night. People are very respectful about your personal space and the fitness center contained updated machines but relatively small. Overall a good stay and enjoyable experience in South San Francisco. read more

Stay here for the parking!! Free shuttle to SFO, runs from 7 am to 11 pm, I believe. Caught an early flight from SFO, and the shuttle was supposed to depart at 6:50 am. Breakfast doesn't open until 7 a.m. on the weekends, so was worried we'd miss out, but they start putting things out a little earlier, so we grabbed a few things for the road. This Marriott is beautiful & the staff is very friendly. However the room I stayed in deserved an upgrade or some fixing. I stayed in a two bedroom suite. The furniture was peeling (dining room table), the fireplace glass door was falling off & the coffee cups were put in the cabinet dirty. However, the free shuttle to downtown SF was a great feature & the hotel front staff were very friendly. This hotel is very pet friendly. Depending on your preference that could be a plus or minus. I have a similar 2 bedroom booked at the Residence Inn in Burbank for my bridal suite & due to the lack of elegance I may rethink my hotel choice. To top this off, We were not given a room with the water view because we were staying one night only! The service here was exemplary. Well, I'm saying that because come 2am on the night we were to check in, I get a call from the front desk asking me if we were still planning to check in that evening. Lucky thing that she called since I had no idea how to get to the hotel from the Tenderloin of San Francisco! The woman gave me clear directions on getting there, and once we did get there, she gave us a free upgrade to a suite. Awesome. :-) (Especially awesome since I was using my Marriott points for the stay.) The suite itself wasn't huge, but you can't fault the cleanliness of it nor the newness. The queen-sized bed was comfortable, and we were out like a light as soon as we touched heads to our down pillows. Oh, and thanks for the complimentary bag of microwave popcorn! Then the two bedroom, two bathroom, $300+ per night the room was really dated, couch/sofa bed leened to the right. Furniture scratched up. A very nice dog friendly hotel. Just outside of San Francisco on a very nice bay. There is a great running path around the bay passing right by the hotel. It is really a beautiful location. The hotel has a decent free breakfast, free wifi, a nice pool and hot tub. The pet fee is $100 dollars or so. I believe it covers 2 pets. Not too bad if you are staying a few nights but pretty steep if you were just staying one night. read more
