I've been to Sonic locations in different states and the one located within Elgin was pretty subpar compared to other establishments. The lady who took my order was pretty efficient and repeated my order back to make sure it was correct; which I appreciated. The food came out at a decent speed, which wasn't bad considering it was dinner rush. I went with my usual order of the Super Sonic Cheesburger, tots, and a diet coke for my cheat day meal. The burger wasn't anything different from other Sonics, but I enjoyed the tots this time around because they were crispy and cooked right (usually a hit or miss). The area around the drive in stalls seemed well kept. I didn't see trash overflowing or garbage laying around, so that's a plus. The only thing about this location's drive through speaker system is it sounds muffled, so there were times I had to ask the server to repeat what was said. Warning, they do tend to mess up on orders more often than other fast food chains I've dined at, so i recommend checking your order prior to driving off. read more

I never have any problems with any Sonic. I only go a couple of times out of the year. I always get the ham egg and cheese crosonic. Again never have any problems until today. First of the size was tiny. Second off there was no cheese. Third it had absolutely no taste except for the bread. Fourth, I could not even bite the ham. It felt like I was chewing plastic. It's mid-day and there is only one cook on duty. Still taking orders and getting REALLY backed up. Curb girl is running around to all the cars trying to find out who gets the grilled cheese sandwich that they have waited a really long time for. This is by far the absolute worse sonic I have ever been to. I have given them a multitude of chances and EVERY TIME they mess it up. Today I waited over 30 minutes for an app order and still ended up having to go through the drive through. My fries were cold and greasy. My milkshake still came with whip cream even though it says on the receipt no whip. The service is horrible. The food is horrible. I've had better luck at this location than the forest drive one. At least when I order a chocolate shake here, it's actually chocolate and not vanilla. Most recently I ordered an Oreo chocolate shake, trying to redeem myself from the "chocolate" shake I ordered on forest drive. It was definitely chocolate, but not an Oreo in sight. I also ask for no whipped cream every time and they always give it to me anyway. I'm come to the conclusion that sonic employees just don't give a crap about customer service. My boyfriend and I stopped by at night on a Friday, and the parking was heavily riddled with high school teenagers not even social distancing. For the service, the cashier who took our order asked us to repeat ourselves three times. We received our order 10 minutes later, and the girl who brought it out did not have, or ask if we needed, condiments, she didn't bring us straws or spoons for our shakes, and also didn't even offer to give us the receipt. I am a regular at Sonic on Two Notch Rd. The service is horrible I understand busy times, don't we all. I went there three times in the past week and always order the same thing. I Normally get and oreo blast, and ask for extra oreo never get extra oreo. I go through the drive through on Friday and I didn't get a receipt and on top of that don't get a bag of ice. They are pushing me to basically leave the drive through because the speaker wasn't working and everyone had to order st the window so that was exhausting. I go back Sunday after speaking with someone about my ice and again sit in the drive through forever. Get to the window, order a d they park me. I sit for over 30 minutes in a spot with ice melting and still no ice. The guy delivers to the car next to me and ignores me. Stopped in after leaving Walmart for a kids meal (wacky pack). Placed a mobile order and pulled into parking space # 6. My daughter said the chicken tenders were good but they forgot the bbq sauce that she asked for. I ordered a green tea which tasted like sugar water. My daughter also said that her fries were too salty. I buzzed the waitress before leaving and asked for barbecue sauce and she brought it out quickly and apologized. I highly recommend placing your order via mobile app since they offer specials and rewards. My green tea was half price. Thank goodness it wasn't full price since it tasted terrible. Overall the experience was a little slower than expected since I ordered ahead via the app. Car hop was friendly. The food was freshly prepared. I think the mobile app needs some more work as it is very unruly at times on iOS. All together the business was horrible and I will not return. First off they didn't have popcorn chicken which was fine we just got the chicken strips instead. But next the girl came out without a mask on and said they did not have the coconut water for the ocean water I wanted. Second red flag right off the bat. So instead I got a high C. Chili cheese dogs are the main feature, at least for my tummy, washed down with real sweet tea. I try to have at least a couple rounds whenever I visit Mom. Why can't we have a couple of Sonics near SF? My sister and I both like the small, pebbly, rough-textured ice they use in drinks, it seems to make everything feel and taste better in your mouth. I used to really enjoy coming here on my lunch hour. The food was fresh and the customer service was fantastic. Something has changed within the last two months with this location and it's truly a shame. Today, I had to wait longer than I'm accustomed to, considering this is a fast food place. But after receiving my meal, the chicken bites were fried so hard I couldn't eat it and the grease it was fried in had a old and burnt taste. I was really disappointed. When you wait over 10 minutes for your meal and then it isn't cooked well, it just makes you feel disappointed. For the last 3 visits, either the order was incorrect or the food was not cooked well. I always keep my orders as simple as possible and today I was really disappointed in the quality of the food. My last visit, was lengthy as well and the staff was standing around socializing while there was a significant line of people in the drive through. After prom, a few friends of mine and myself decided to go to sonic for a midnight snack- which rapidly turned into a 1 Am snack. Since the stalls close at midnight, we went through the drive thru and waited at the outdoor seating for our food. An employee came out and said "I have a large order of mozzarella sticks." I was hungry and quickly claimed my food. However, the employee asked if I had any other food with my order, and I said no. She then asked if there were any other people waiting for orders of mozzarella sticks, and I told her that I didn't think so. She carried the bag back inside without asking any other questions. I waited for another ten minutes for my mozzarella sticks, and several of my friends were waiting on various items such as root beer floats and coffees. I watched the employees proceed to vape in the kitchen area without regard to our missing orders. It would've been different if they had to make our food or something, but the food was made, it was just too big of a hassle for the sonic employees to put down their vape pens and pick up my mozzarella sticks. When they finally did (after some urging by some of my friends), we werent given an apology and no reparations were even attempted. The mozzarella sticks were good, but that could also be because i hadn't eaten since 5 and had just danced the night away. Overall, the service was bad, food was food, and vaping is nasty. read more
