I took my brother there a few weeks ago, and promised him something unusual would happen. Sure enough as soon as we walk in some guy is trying to show us his gold tooth. Apparently he got in a fight a few weeks ago, and got his teeth knocked out, he was only able to afford one fake tooth, but he is hoping someday he will be able to get them all replaced. I experienced racial discrimination today at Happy Harry's on 45th in Fargo ND, while trying to buy…read morewine for Thanksgiving Dinner. When asked for ID, I presented my Federal Tribal ID card, which I have always been proud to offer. The clerk said he can only accept it if I produced a birth certificate to go along with it. While explaining that our Tribal Id's come with holographic imprint, our social security number, birth date, full name, address, and tribal affiliation, the clerk raised his voice at me and barked "We are trained not to accept federal tribal id's!" Several nearby cashiers heard the commotion and chimed in agreement, loudly telling me and my girlfriend to leave. The manager, Sam, rushed toward me with unnecessary force and yelled, "You need to leave!" As a fellow local business owner I was surprised at the hostility Happy Harry's employees are allowed to display towards customers. I left humiliated, without the wine, that ironically, was for the holiday that celebrates Native Americans accepting the White Man, by offering dinner...probably with wine.

The wine selection was OK, but the more time I spent here, the more I came to appreciate the offerings, and how lucky local Fargo residents are to have such a place around. I was searching for 360 cucumber vodka. This is a very large store on the corner. Walking in it took some time to find the "vodka" area, but once found, it offered many many choices. I perused the other liquors and wines as well, and the selection seemed large and very diverse quality and price wise, so something for everyone It seemed to me. While they did not have the vodka I was searching for, it was a terrific store, super nice staff and easy well lit parking lot. This is also a very clean store. Not a dusty bottle in sight. They now have more wines and beers to chose from; and they have a great selection of hard alcohol too. The thing I like the best about them is their beer selection.
