They weren't using the drive up kiosks at this time of night, but the employees were incredibly sweet, efficient , and kind. I ordered a drink to be ready ASAP. I arrived four minutes later and checked in. It said it would be ready in four minutes, but it took another 10 minutes to be ready. In that time, at least a dozen people went through the drive-through... probably more. It is clear that online orders do not get priority of any sort, and in fact are pushed to the bottom of the list so that they can service the drive-through. read more

Ouch. I can't even tell you how the food was because I didn't get to eat it. I went first thing in the morning for breakfast. The employee was nice. I paid and she told me my food would be a few minutes... 11 minutes later I was still sitting in the drive through waiting. I didn't even see her through the window to get her attention. I had to go to work so I left without my food. When I went back after work for a refund, the lady I talked to had a very poor attitude. All I asked was for a refund, and she was giving me grief. It was early morning and I needed to get some food in me but I didn't feel like regular breakfast. They weren't very busy when we got there and I just pulled right around into a space. We checked the menu and I pressed the button and they were very quick to respond. And placed an order for an All-American dog with fries and a slush. It was a quite reasonable wait for my food. I've gotten used to them packing the bag sideways when I order a hot dog but in this case they put it down in the bottom of the bag and just put the french fries right on top of it. The fries were very good but the hot dog was a little more disappointing. The toppings on it were very unevenly distributed and there was just way too much of them. The ketchup especially was just everywhere. In the end I had to scrape most of it off and just finished the dog. When I can say is that the meal made me feel better as I was no longer nodding off from the long drive. Over the last couple years I've had more and more disappointing visits to Sonic Drive-Ins and I had hope that it was more localized but I now realize it was not. I'm a big fan and hope that they can make things better like back in the days when roller skates were actually worn. I normally have an amazing experience with sonic and love it very much. Today was not good at all. My boyfriend and I waited 40 minutes for two drinks. The cars on both sides of us ending up leaving before getting what they ordered and this has happened 3 times on one side. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the service today. There's also a long drive through line thats seeming to go just as slow as the stalls. I don't understand why it took that long to get my two drinks. Drinks are highly simple to make, I know it does not take that long. Sonic will be losing my business for a while. The workers were also very snippy and rude. You have great chicken tenders when they are hot, which is hardly ever. Tonight I tried again and got them cold. I went back and asked for hot ones. I found this to be a very odd Sonic. They did not have an area where you could sit inside, out of the sun, heat or rain. You either had to order from your car of order from a speaker on their deck. The service was slow, even though their did not seem to be a lot of vehicles there on a Saturday night. We only ordered shakes, so I would hate to have to stand outside while I waited for food. The shakes were good, especially at the "after 8p 50% off" price point, but I think I'll stick with my traditional Sonic. read more

Sonic was fair. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. , which I asked them to cut it in half. And they did. It was and okay tasting sandwich. Also got tarot tots and asked for ketchup, and the switch board guy said that it would be in the bag. Got my food and it was not. The tots where very good. The guy that brought my food out to me didn't have any ketch up on him, nor did he read me my order. Also had to use the rest room and let's just say, it needs some cleaning. When you come and make a special request such as softly friend onion rings and the order taker cites state law ' we cannot undercook anything' and you call them on it with ' whIch law' states that you cannot fry onion rings softly. Expect not to be serviced at this location. The manager with tatoos stated today at 12:57 pm that I can refuse service and asked me to pull up. I waited 7 minutes and he never came out.'' The district manager called me after I left a message for the corporate office. As I stated to him, what the manager should have stated, I apologize, there is no state law but corporate policy that we allow the food to cook the designated time- I would have been satisfied. But, he lied and then threatened not to serve me which they didn't. This is NOT the 60s. Despite the manager offering me a complimentary meal. The most basic of fast food option in the area, offers good late-night hours, friendly service, and decently fun foods at good value however overall an odd mix attempting to be the best of Steak and Shake, McDonald's, Wendy's but not really better than either. My parents have tried the food twice and commented even for the low standards at these low prices the food wasn't passable. I would really like to see it more original menu options and things steering towards health instead of complete opposite at least cutting out the huge dose of sodium. My buddy and I wandered in for beverages, didn't take too long considering how long the drive-thru was. Realized it would have been faster at the outdoor walk up covered ordering tables. We got a cake shake, quite tasty but impossible to eat with a straw. I had a ocean water which is a wonderful flavor but again crazy unhealthy. I hope to see at least hopeful nutrition aware options coming to this chain soon. read more

This place was painful to eat at. The slushies and milkshakes that we got were very good. Sadly the food was not...far from it. The chicken sandwich tastes bland and uninspired. The boneless wings were no different than frozen wings you microwave. I do not expect much from a Sonic in terms of food...but this was sad. Like I said...if it were only the shakes and slushies it would have been great. Next time I will just get that and just find somewhere else to eat. read more

I love Sonic for their drinks and treats, not so much for their food. Their cherry limeades are delicious and everybody's favorite. They have a large variety of syrups and soda choices for you to mix and match. My personal favorite is Sprite with strawberries. The best part is that there are real strawberry chunks, yum. They also have different ice cream treats. Their new red velvet cheesecake is so good. They do offer a variety of food items that are different from the hamburgers and chicken nuggets you would expect to find anywhere else. They have tater tots, mozerella sticks, and coney dogs too. If you go from 2-4pm you can get half price drinks during their happy hour which I would highly recommend! read more

It's a standard drive in, but I'm particularly partial to Sonic because it has cherry limeade and tater tots. I'm a sucker for both. They also have decent coney dogs and corn dogs. This location is fairly new. Took my mom since she'd never been to one and she seemed to like it. Sometimes you get good service, sometimes it's not so great. I consider it a tiny step up from McDonald's, so I've learned to ignore stupid servers. They'll fix your order if they screw up. Don't come here if you're on a diet, and make sure you get a limeade! read more

Arrived about 2 pm today with a taste for something sweet and cold. Wife ordered a cheesecake snake and I got a large mint Oreo Master Blast. Took quite a bit of time to get someone to answer the intercom and take our order. The snake was very good! The Master Blast was less than stellar. The top 2" was chunky and minty. I was excited because this was my first ever visit. From 2" down or was nothing but vanilla soft serve. I'd that is the way it is supposed to be then I won't be back. Always enjoy going to the Lafayette, Indiana Sonic for their delicious drinks and milkshakes delivered by friendly young people zooming around on their roller skates. They get the order right and it comes out right away. Last night they went way beyond their regular duties joking with us and making sure we got our stalled car with the help of their jumper cables on its way. I used to like this place but we ordered the six piece honey barbecue and it was too spicy for my girlfriend and I talked to the manager about it they said that they can't do anything just because we don't like the food so now I'm not a big fan of sonic. This is very unprofessional and I am very disappointed. I don't think they understand that the customer is always right. The worker also claimed that the Honey BBQ was more of a chipotle BBQ. So you don't need me to tell you this place has the best burgers and drinks of all the fast food possibilities. Then there's the fact that their menu is so big--you can get truly excellent onion rings, tater tots, moss sticks, etc. You can get chicken, amazing hot dogs, grilled cheese, breakfast all day, etc. I can also vouch that this place is usually pretty consistent with their timing--it's not McD fast but that's because it's Always hot! The problem with his place is their communication. The way they have their menu setup you have to add or change things and whenever that happens the order won't get made right. Even if it's written on the receipt attached to the bag, any changes you made to a sandwich won't happen. It's all a bit much to ask high school students, most who don't work a job more than 6 months at a time, to learn a large menu AND be able to remember to ask about all the possible moving parts of their value menu (you get a choice in potato as well as a billion different drink options) while also adjusting the existing elements of your meal to add or subtract toppings to the sandwich. Great food, awkward menu setup. Just take what's on the menu or order a sandwich "with the works" and pick off what you don't want. read more

This is the only spot I can go for fast food without feeling totally irresponsible for spending money on prepared food that could have funded groceries for the whole day. The chili cheese coneys are among the best available anywhere and the milkshakes never disappoint. Prices are invariably lower than the competition, and if you're looking for a drive-thru there really is no competition. Half the menu items can't be found elsewhere unless you get a table in a restaurant. The staff is always friendly and attentive for drive-in customers even during the busiest of times. The food is made to order and my wait time is always less than I expect it will be. I couldn't be more pleased with the business model, food, or service. This location is definitely the best food for the money in Lafayette. If you've never had the Sonics experience before then I recommend you try it here. It's the kind of place that will have you keeping one eye open for a Sonic when you travel! read more
