Absolutely unacceptable service. Our party of five was seated and then essentially forgotten. We waited 15-20 minutes without being acknowledged by a single employee--no greeting, no drink order, not even a quick "Someone will be with you shortly." During that time, the couple at the table next to us got up and walked out after also receiving no service. We finally did the same. Seven people walked out within minutes of each other, and no one even seemed to notice or care. We completely understand being busy or short-staffed, but acknowledging customers takes seconds. We weren't expecting immediate service--we were simply expecting to be recognized after being seated. We never had the opportunity to order a single drink or bite of food. Came here with a large party and they strung some tables together for us. Servers were friendly and helpful the entire night, including when we were still there a little after the closing hour, which we appreciated. Most of us got burgers, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I went with smashed burgers (vs traditional) at the server's recommendation, and I think it was a good choice. No one was saying it was the best burger they've ever had, but it was good and if I lived or went to school here, I'd certainly come back. Asked for the patties to be cooked medium and the french fries to be extra crispy. The french fries came out perfect. Not a fan of the tomato jam, ketchup style dipping sauce, but the fries were good. The onion rings however, hard as a rock, very difficult to eat. Both burgers were well done. Despite them being so overly cooked, they had good flavor and were still a little juicy. Overall, not the worst place to stop and eat some food. I might be inclined to give bru another chance, but there's too many options for a second chance. First impressions are lasting. read more

We were staying at a hotel across from the river and walked over here per recommendations from a hotel staff. I didn't see much parking nearby so I was glad we walked over the pedestrian bridge. Ordered a local beer, forgot the name but it said it was brewed at Lafayette. Dark amber was what I had. Hamburger I had some garlic in it, the dark amber beer and garlic taste went perfectly well. I got the Stilton Bleu Cheese burger with fries and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Burger was cooked to medium. The truffle aioli elevated the burger, with the right balance of garlic/truffle feel. The fries were crispy and salty (a tad more salted than my personal preference, but still very good). They had there own house ketchup which was very unique and different then a typical store ketchup. I was definitely a fan of it!! Staff was very friendly , and the restaurant was in a nice location. This was a 6 out of 5. I wanted to have lunch with my son, but I was more than an hour early. I walked in with my laptop bag and explained the situation to them and they were so kind. They walked me to the covered and heated outdoor patio and said that would be a nice quiet place for me to work undisturbed. The waiter kept checking on me, I had a drink, and he kept it filled. It took my son a little closer to an hour and a half before he joined me. I had the honey chipotle barbecue sandwich, he had the Bru burger. The flavor was great, my chicken was crisp, moist and had some heat. The fries were great... and I usually don't waste my time on french fries. My son had the root beer float and he said it was just as good as red Robin and he is a serious fan of their root beer floats. I can't remember the name of the root beer but it is some kind of a local root beer that comes in a glass bottle and he was super excited. Courteousness an attentiveness staff was equally as great as the food. They were so accommodating. The heated patio was great. It was nice to sit on my laptop and be able to stare outside at the foot traffic. I love it that it is near the pedestrian bridge over the river. Had it been a little warmer I would've taken a walk as well. It's a great location in the coolest part of downtown there was also a city parking lot nearby that allowed for free parking. read more

This was my second visit with the first visit about a year ago where I was not super impressed but thought about giving the restaurant a go again. Unfortunately while the atmosphere and waitstaff was great, the pricing and food itself fell flat. We started with the hot wings which were good but were not spicy, more of a mild flavor. The burgers on the other hand, were unfortunately not good. My plate and the bottom bun were completely covered in grease to the point where the bun was falling apart. The burger itself was the most basic on the menu (lettuce, onion, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and mayo) with a price of $13.50 which did not include French fries which were an additional $2.50. The fries were good but could not make up for the rest of the meal. Maybe someone else's cup of tea but I don't think I will be back. read more

We had a nice dinner here this evening. We sat at the bar and were greeted by the friendly bartender Rachael. Seating was comfortable and we were able to watch sone football as we dined. Hubbie had a beer from the wide selection. I had a pear cosmo. For dinner we started with the dip trio. Yum- there was a goat cheese and pep Padres spread, chunky Guac and hummus with grilled naan and onion straws. All were excellent but the giant cheese with jelly was the standout. This was my second visit but a different location. The food was so good at my last visit, I thought I'd try it again. I ordered same thing I did at the previous location. Went to Bru Burger on a Friday night and although it was packed and it was homecoming weekend, we were seated in less than 30 minutes. They had vegan options like the impossible burger which was nice for non-meat eaters. The cocktails were also really good. The spicy pomegranate margarita is a must try for sure. It was not spicy but the flavors worked really well with the tequila. Try the triple dip if you want a light and delicious starter. We were in town for a reunion and staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Wabash Landing. Wanted a burger and this place was literally across the pedestrian bridge in downtown. It is a beautiful open space. Service was attentive. Burgers were very good. They all have a million toppings! I literally picked the one I thought would be the least messy (Bourbon bacon burger) and was wrong. So strap in and load up on napkins! Loved the onion rings too! Hubby got a smash burger (double) and it looked great also. In the five years since I first ordered take-out from this restaurant, my wife and I have returned dozens of times, and these visits, along with our visit yesterday evening, convince me that my original four-star rating needs to be upgraded. (Perhaps food just tastes better when you eat it at a restaurant than when you bring it home, as we did in 2020.) Being COVID-cautious, we called ahead to reserve an outdoor table, and when we arrived we saw that the patio was completely enclosed. But no worries: the windows rise electronically, so we were able to have the benefits of outdoor seating. I had a patty melt with a side order of fries; my wife had the Sriracha Caesar salad with added shrimp (and the Sriracha seasoning removed). In past visits with my daughter and her family we have usually also ordered the Bru Board, a charcuterie board collection of meats, cheeses, bread and spreads, but we usually skip that when it's just the two of us. Both of us were very pleased with our meals. My patty melt ($15) was large (I would guess about half a pound of meat) and it and the fries (an extra $2.50) were delicious. It kind of bugs me that an expensive burger doesn't come with fries or even potato chips, but at least the order I got was huge, and the fries here really are superb, perhaps the best restaurant fries that I know of in Lafayette. My wife was given a choice of three kinds of shrimp (fried, grilled or blackened); she ordered them grilled and was very pleased with the outcome. She ordered the small salad ($10, with an extra $7 for the shrimp), but the word "small" is a misnomer; it was a very substantial one, and she (and I) only ate half our meals, bringing home the rest for a meal of leftovers later. Service was efficient and friendly but not overbearing. I belong to the Cunningham restaurant group loyalty club (tip: join this before going; it's free and only takes a minute or two to sign up, and you save money on future orders) and he remembered to record my phone number, thus giving me points for the meal. Now that the weather is getting warmer and eating outdoors is becoming more and more feasible, we expect to be returning often. read more

I came here with my partner and we were immediately sat far from everyone in a quiet area which I liked. Our server was very friendly and attentive to us throughout the dinner. We ordered chili fries as an appetizer then I ordered the provençal burger. I do think it's weird that fries aren't included in the price of the burger. The chili fries appetizer can definitely feed 3-4 people and the burger itself melted in my mouth. I did ask for no red onions though and that modification was not followed so when I picked the onions out, most of the aioli in the burger was gone. This spot is often happening at night and not as bustling during the daytime. Luckily you can take a nice stroll across the John Myers bridge as you wait for your table. We weren't able to sit a party of 8 at a circular table, but there are other seating options like combining tables and especially if you're ok with seating separately. There's a patio option if you'd like to sit outdoors as well. Perhaps because it's a busy place, I've found service to generally be slow and oftentimes need to request extra silverware or napkins more than once. If I am dropping over twenty bucks on a burger and not even full, it better be amazing and surrounded with quality service. Neither of those essentials happen here, in the past four or five visits, Bru proved itself backwards and overpriced. Why are fries an extra on already expensive burgers? This sort of price gouging on practically free potatoes is meeting. Makes for the bottom rung burger game in Lafayette despite the bright modern interior, friendly and well trained staff, a newer chain sticking itself into the college crowd. I would go to Wendy's over Bru. From what I've seen and heard this is the winner for, psych, not burgers! Come here for the salads! Weird I know. I've had a few apps along with their great shakes, which some were small for the price. Especially wings, ignore those, go for the nachos, flavor filled and hard to resist chowing down. Rewards program is limiting and tight fisted, they refuse to apply my rewards number to the entire table unless I am paying for everyone. That's downright nonsense for any aspiring pricy place, guess who was the one that brought everyone here to eat? The Stilton burger is a win but as mentioned these Bru people are not on the same level as The Tap, DT Kirbys, Teay's River, Big League, Town & Gown, AJs, or even Wendys. All that ruccus with price gouging and annoying service and silly rewards limits plus the real issue: burgers are small, quite compact, for the prices. It's an odd combination of high expectations at a pricy city spot where the food never fills up as one assumes it will. Of all the times here with various friends not once has anyone needed a take home box. Lafayette has many better burger bastions, in fact right down the block is the best burger I have ever had. Bistro 501's French onion and mushroom burger is no more expensive. I highly recommend skipping Bru for any of the other restaurants mentioned in this review. read more

The nachos were good, but the provincal burger was greasy and didn't have much flavor.
