I got a "chocolate" shake at the drive through that was about 90% whipped cream. When I got to my office I called and the young lady told me the company standard was chocolate to a certain line on the cup, then whipped cream. Specifically at this location the service has gone down hill. To day the squeaky voiced employee could not get anything right at the order stall. Not only that SONIC no longer does courtesy water. When i asked for courtesy water the employee asked if i wanted a Ocean water...this went on for several minutes going though various flavors of drinks....ending up a cherry lime...before i just cancelled the drink. When she finally figured out what a COURTESY water was she rudely said NO...Following that, the the chili cheese coney with a over cooked damn near burnt wiener, she also never asked if i wanted onions or mustard..bleh.. Sorry to say Route 44 Drinks have skyrocketed to 4.00+. You think a courtesy water in the summer would be ok....but no. On a previous visit 15min till closing, we ordered a chili cheese tots, and sadly we did not get that, we got a mix of stale fries and old tots but mostly fries smothered in cold chili, was a sad night, the girlfriend yelled at me for the sorry incapable employees. Thanks sonic. BUT i will probably not be frequenting this location, unless im desperately dying of thirst and loosing blood. i would rather push my car up lohman uphill to the sonic on telshor where the service is 10x better. Seems as if the staff they hire at the El Paseo location is sadly lacking any kind of service basics. It's Sonic. The two things they do well: Gigantic drinks of all kinds for low prices and drunk people food. I mean, really, when, other than when you've had one too many do you say, "Man, I'd like a foot of French fries with bad chili and Velvetta on top!" Never. A girl closed the door while i was talking and when i didn't get it right the first time..... she said "here, let me just do it for you" i'm sure they she didn't mean it to come off rude but the tone in her voice sure made it seem that way. Three words: Green Chile Cheeseburger. During consumption, I was a little weirded out by the intense flavor of green chile. However, in hindsight, now, that shit was pretty amazing. Chile is in pretty much everything you order in Las Cruces. That's what they are known for. I guess they used to have this particular burger at the one in Palmdale, CA, but they discontinued it. I guess they just don't get the fascination with green chilies in Cali. So let me describe this burger to you. Imagine a Sonic burger with cheese and mustard... ok, now add hot green chilies. Viola! You got yourself a goddamn New Mexican creation. My poor boyfriend waited 6 months to have one of these burgers, and when we got home, they forgot the chile. He thanks Jesus that I have the stomach the size of a gerbil, because he got to eat the other half of my burger. He was a happy bear after that.
