This place is an absolute joke. It took 17 minutes to get a sausage egg and cheese croissant, and a drink. Then when I finally get it, what I'm assuming was supposed to be the egg, was so burnt, I thought it was the sausage. It was in no way edible. I'm driving across West Texas we decided to pull into sonic. This location for sonic should be shut down or have their franchise removed. The order taker did not understand my wife's order and messed it up. My wife asked for a keto style burger and all they did was remove the bun. None of the condiments were put on the burger but we did get a HAIR. This is 2020 we should be beyond getting hair in our food. This is a failure on the franchisee holder. We try to be very patient with all people that work in food service because early in our lives we both worked food-service, we get it! The next time my wife says she wants sonic in Merkel Texas we will keep going I don't care how hungry she is or how thirsty I am we will bypass this location. Wow. They pretty much messed our entire order up. It isn't rocket science, they even have fancy pictures so you can see what is being ordered and the text comes in big boy letters for the people making it. They run out of food and charge us more for a replacement...okay no biggie. But then they get that wrong twice and then want to charge us more for that. What they didn't know was that one of the kids in the car has a dad who owns a few Sonics. So this whole cluster goes right onto management. You don't screw up an entire order, have stuff get sent back to be corrected 3 times, and then say you need more money. I am 22 hours into a 23-hour drive, and I've spent 30 minutes waiting for Sonic to get my order correct. Apparently, a potato, egg, and cheese burrito is too much of a challenge. Why isn't zero stars an option? I'm still waiting, other cars have come and gone, and the carhop hasn't even bothered to stop and explain that they're waiting on the chickens to lay eggs or the cheese to curd or something. I would give it 0. I don't typically think it is necessary to write a review about a fast food place- you know what you are getting. But I am compelled to just state that this Sonic is disgusting. We were passing through on a drive across country and ate outside at the tables. They were covered in ketchup... then I used the restroom before we got back on the road and there were 4 dead cockroaches scattered over the floor. We were traveling through on a Saturday. We ordered and paid at the drive thru. We were the only customers in the drive thru. We waited over 15 minutes for food. We never received our food. I called and spoke to the "manager" who said he would research and get back to me. That was 2 weeks ago and no returned call. Poor service AND poor management. I also left a complaint with corporate. The grilled chicken was so chewy that half of the meat pulled out of the bun while chewing it. The lady took the order wrong and gave us tots instead of fries. If there was an option to give zero stars I would have. We ordered for our family of 5 and 3 of the 5 orders were wrong. Then they argued that they weren't wrong. We decided to just re order what was missing and had to wait FOREVER for it. So the rest of the food was cold. It was so soggy and nasty none of us were able to finish our meals. Absolute worst sonic ever. They take forever, I ordered and waited at the window a good 10 mins before she even greeted me, she then said my card didn't go through , so the lady in the window handed it back to me and said "this card says not authorized" and just shuts the window on me. It was Sooo rude, and then I wait 5 mins and I just left at that point. It was absolutely ridiculous, I'm not usually one to complain but that was just downright rude. She didn't even ask me "do you want me to try the card again" because I had money in my account all she had to do was try it again.but nope! You won't get my money ever again. Worst sonic ever. Not only did it take 20 mins to get my food at the drive through, the entire order was pretty much wrong when It finally did arrive. There speaker doesn't work and the lady on the microphone was rude and clearly did not care to clarify my order when she clearly couldn't hear me. Absolute worst Sonic, I strongly suggest No one stops here. I have been limited to this location since I work in the area because my job requires me to travel. This place is only 1 of three fast food places you can eat. Ive visited this Sonic about 25 times and every single time is something different. Long waits, orders are always wrong and quality of food being served is terrible. These people have absolutely no idea how a restaurant should be operated nor do they care. How do you run out of Bread or any other major ingrediants on a daily basis as ive experienced on every visit. Everytime i was not informed before ordering, only Find out from checking my order myseld and asking for the missing items to be told oh We are out of that. Even have waited up to 17 minutes for my food to recieve cold tots, and i am not exagerating. Called the Sonic Coorperate office after speaking to the manager several times and they dont even care. I have finally throwed in the towel and refuse to waste another penny on this place. The employees are rude and food quality is terrible. I ran a restaurant for many years and this is not even remotely close to how a restaurant should be ran.... I feel bad for the People of Merkel that live here and dont have many options.
