When Capriotti's first came to town, I wasn't a big fan. The food is good, but just a little on the expensive side for you get. Here lately, I have changed my mind. They now have something on the menu called Duo's. I get half a sandwich and half a salad For $10. That's a great deal. The sandwich is always good, and the salad is even better. I always get the Capriotti chopped salad, which is the same as an Italian antipasto salad. With their red wine vinaigrette dressing, this salad is absolutely delicious! I have ordered it over and over. I always get the Italian sandwich, which is always a winner. With the duos special, there are several different combinations you can get. First time hearing of this place as I don't know of any in CA. I had the Bobbie with cranberry sauce. The only thing that could make this better would be gravy. My wife had the Chipotle chicken, which was also very good. The fries were thin and flat almost like chips and you can get grilled cheese sandwiches for free with the purchase of a regular sandwich. So, I went to the shop and tried the small portion of the homemade turkey and the classic Italian. My favorite was the classic Italian; it is served with fresh vegetables and the perfect portion of meat. I requested some pepper relish, which elevates the sandwich to another dimension. This place is awesome! I'm glad Abilene got a Capriotti's franchise. Their sandwiches are really good and fresh. I've been in Abilene 2 and a half years and haven't come across a good real Philly. Most of the ones in town are good. The one here is awesome. They also have good service. I came in on the 1st week and they were slammed, like any new business in Abilene. I've been waiting in the sand shop for 30 minutes and I ordered it online like an hour and a half ago and I want to go ask if my food is ready and they said they lost it. First time I went the got multiple orders wrong, my sandwich (classic Italian)had nothing but bread and meat, and the bread is not a quality bread. Second time I went they made the sandwich correct but still messed the orders and even tho the sandwich was better (Philly cheese steak) the bread still not of my liking. When I called to tell them, of course it was the fake apologies and wanting me to spend my time and gas to come back there to make up for their incompetence. Finally a lady from the crowd broke off and I told her I had a pick up order. She remarked about how busy they have been (they say that every single time) and that my order was not ready. If you like hot French fries don't order them here. Today was the first time going to this restaurant and I have to say I was very disappointed. it took about 25 minutes for me to receive a BLT and a order of fries to go, the fries were discarded in the trash can as I left with my order. As I sat there waiting for my order, with only two other people in the restaurant before me, I noticed the people getting the orders ready putting French fries in the bag for my order ( unrealized at the time) after about 5 minutes from when I ordered, as well as what looked like phone orders that we're being prepared. so the fries just set there for how ever long it takes to make the sandwich (my BLT) about 25 minute. after about 20 minutes of waiting I returned to the counter to see how much longer it would take to make my BLT and was told only a little longer because they had to wait for room to open up on the grill to toast the bread. then when it was finally done one of the young ladies put my sandwich in one of the bags that had my fries in it for the past 20 minutes. to her credit it she pulled the fries out of the bags and appeared asked one of the gentleman something and then put the fries back in the bag and handed it to me. I asked if they were going to serve me these cold fries and she replied would you like some new ones. I replied Lourdes enough for everyone to hear no thank you I will just do a review on this place. So if you ever wonder why your fries are so cold for your order it might be they are cooking them ahead of time and putting the in the bag and not keeping them under a heat lamp till your entire order is ready. i woul say I was surprised the manger didn't come talk to me, but seeing how the orders are done it's not a surprise at all. read more
