Quick stop after a day trip. They were busy but reasonable wait. The guy who took our order was patient and got it all correct. Food was hot upon arrival. Chicken pops were good and hot. Onion rings we're perfect. Foot long was good but tons of mayo on top. They just need to work on some fine details on appearance of it. The grounds were clean. Ordered thru the mobile app 10 minutes prior to arriving. Pulled into a stall and entered stall number in. The screen read "in the kitchen" for 25 minutes before we gave up and pressed the red button. An employee quickly and aggressively responded with "stalls are closed. Use the drive thru." That would have been nice to know upon arriving... So we get in the drive thru line and wait another 25 minutes for 4 drinks. And this was after my husband went to the kitchen door and was ignored by all staff members. Safe to say we will not be back. read more

Do NOT waste your time here. Management is horrible. We ordered on the app, got to the stall, put in our stall number, and then watched as the screen said "in the kitchen"...for 30 minutes. After waiting, we pressed the red button, only for the employee to say, "Our stalls are closed, use the drive thru" (a 20 minute wait at this point). We pressed the red button again to ask if the mobile order is ready so we wouldn't have to go through the drive thru, but the employee got on the mic, tersely said, "Stalls are closed," talked over us, and then hung up. If we hadn't pressed the button, they would've let us wait at the stall forever. That's not a staffing issue; that's a management issue. Complete disregard for their customers. Good grief. Ordered in advance through the app. One small cherry limeade. A medium cherry limeade and medium strawberry. All slushee. I got a large cherry "limeade" instead of medium. The girl kept saying cherry. I said are we sure it's cherry limeade? Oh yes ma'am you just got a bigger one at no charge (?). Ya. It was plain cherry. So so sweet. Gag. Heads up visitors. They do NOT participate in happy hour except drinks. Don't expect 99 cent corn dogs or the likes. (Kids were sad). There is an Irish guy. I say Irish with confidence because he has a thick accent. We went there for happy hour. All the pull up spots are closed, so there is a long line at the drive thru window. Our drinks were wrong and when we tried to tell the girl at the window, she got an attitude. Not only was the drink the wrong size, but it was also the wrong flavor. Asked for a refund later and was told to come in and they would give us a refund. ...nope, they gave us nothing but a run-around for two months. Finally, we were told to request a refund on-line. Completely ridiculous. I arrive and wait 35 minutes for my mobile order after pushing the button for service and calling the location directly I continue to get zero service. After finally going through the drive through I'm informed the "carhops are not in service" but there are not any signs to identify that it is drive through only. Food may also be the worst food at a sonic I have ever had. I don't see how a business like this even stays afloat. Beyond pathetic. Arrived at 9:30 sat in a stall for 20 mins while the light flashed but no one answered even though other vehicles were getting helped. At 9:50 I move to the drive through as it is being help (or so I thought). As I'm waiting in line, what appears to be the manager brings stuff out to the car behind me and they leave. However when I get to the window I'm informed that they are closed and won't be helping me. So 45 mins for no one to ever help or me to be able to place an order. Honestly though it's on me we've tried to go up there probably half a dozen times before and they are always closed. And the app does not work at this location. I love Sonic. Never been disappointed, until now. This place needs a new manager! The parking spot I picked didn't have a functioning ordering system. No "out of order" sign, it just didn't work. After finally deciding that it didn't work, and that no one cared, I said screw it and headed for the drive-thru. The menu boards were so busted up and covered with leftover scotch tape from notices that it appeared as if they'd been abandoned. BTW the ordering station menu board at the non-functioning parking space also had 8-10 chunks of old tape stuck on it too. This is not the quality of care I've typically seen at Sonics elsewhere. No pride at all. I wound up leaving with nothing because the one thing I was craving....onion rings..were unavailable. Unbelievable. One word: Diarrhea I'm a huge fan of Sonic I love their food. But sadly this location is definitely not the best. For years it's had slow service and long wait times because hardly anyone is working there. Sometimes they say it can take up to 45 minutes until your food is ready... Who would want to wait that long? There's obviously something wrong going on when it's been this way for years I'd assume it's the owners or the terrible hourly pay. Yesterday I decided to give them a go it was packed and amazingly enough it looked like they hired new employees (finally) but there was still a long wait. I shrugged it off and waited in line to finally order my food which was a few Sonic cheeseburgers. Everything was looking good. I got what I ordered and the cheeseburgers looked fine and well cooked. The employee forgot to give me my receipt but that wasn't really a problem since I assumed the food was all good. The problem was a few hours later I had SEVERE DIARRHEA and an UPSET STOMACH as a result of this food. Even throughout the night the same problems persisted. I hardly got any sleep and still feel horrible. I've never had a problem like this before at a Sonic but clearly the employees are not being hygienic. I'm a germophobe so there's no way in hell I got sick from my own doing. I'm a very clean person. It was obviously a case of dirty employees that never wash their hands when preparing someone's food. I regret going there and wish I bailed when I saw it was going to be a long wait but I decided to stay in hopes of some good food which turned out bad in the end. They need to implement some new policies that "washing your hands" is mandatory. Or have someone actually enforce those rules (like a manager) because I'm sure they already exist there but no one is enforcing them. Very disappointing. I will never go to this Sonic again which is sad because I grew up here in Ruidoso and used to go frequently in the past. Don't waste your time. On a Thursday night almost all the stalls were taken and the three that weren't did work. Finally someone pulled out and I pull in just to find a beat up stall without half the menu. The wires were showing because it had been damaged. Would hate to see inside. This Sonic needs some corporate attention. The entire town shuts down early so I get them being busy but don't waste your time here. Never got a response and left. Had to drive to Albertsons for my ice cream fix. Two Allsups' were closed on the way - no one to work is what the sign said. Albertsons is open 7 am to 10 pm. Also reservations required at two regular restaurants. Ranchers (4 stars)and grill caliente ( 3 stars) Plan ahead and visit or call ahead.Eat early in Ruidoso. Good luck. read more

The food was good. I had a very large group and the service was fine. Sonic does not give drink refills but they put so much ice in the cup that you could only take five sips afore I was out. It was the same with everyone in my group. When we asked for a cup for water we were told "We are very busy so you'll have to wait a while. Loaded the family in the car for a trip to sonic to get some shakes as a special treat while at the grandparents' house. Figured it might be a little busy on a Saturday night but this was ridiculous! 3 cars ahead of us and it honestly took 20 minutes to get to the window to order (speaker to order in was broken). The kids were so excited to get shakes that we decided to wait it out even though it was 9pm. Finally got to the window and the guy apologized for the wait and then told us the shake machine was broken!! Seriously?! We told him how long we waited and he didn't seem to see why we were upset. A sign by the broken speaker might have been nice so we wouldn't have waited so long - when I suggested it, he just gave me a blank look.
