Clean place with an upbeat viper. Order at the counter and they bring your meal to you. I ordered the green chili smash burger and the wife had the classic smash burger. Taste was fantastic! The only issue was it tried to fall apart before I could get a bite. You may want to cut it before you try. Double beef patties, cheese, all the fixings with green chili sauce. Excellent. The classic was very good but not so messy. The fries were crispy outside and soft inside, a perfect fry. Had a beer on tap it was very good as was the margarita the wife had. This is a really nice place, and I had a really good time here. The beers are good, not amazing, but you can drink them without feeling cheated. There is also a drink menu which I suggest you try. The staff is young, this brewery may be the next incarnation of breweries, replacing the big bearded lumberjack dudes with young girls from some summer camp. A lot of high pitched voices and running around, but everything was OK. It was a nice experience nonetheless. read more

The food was reliably very good, like what Chili's or Applebees wish they could serve. There was a solid selection of beers and we enjoyed the ones we had. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious and we never felt crowded. If you're coming from out of town, look for seating in the back or even outside on one of the porches. We went here on 7-5-26. I had the green chili smashed burger and my wife had the smoked wings. Both of us really enjoyed our food. I had their Apex IPA and it was delicious and my wife had a glass of local wine it was the Tidy Whitey Piont Grigio which she really enjoyed. We have been here a few times before and loved it. However, yesterday we waited 2.5 hours for our food. When it finally came the pizza was cold and the bread on the hamburger buns was stale. I'm not sure we will give them another try. Very disappointing! read more

This is a serve and get yourself restaurant. When you walk in, you order at the counter. It took about 10 minutes at 6:30. They do sell mixed drinks but it wasn't obvious as we had to ask. We sat outside on patio- down a flight of stairs. They give you a buzzer and when it goes off, you pick up food at the counter. Smoked wings were very good. Ranch did tasted like water. The BBQ sauce was pretty good. French fries were crisp and good, not great. Patio was amazing! We were so happy we stopped in here for dinner when we were in the area. This location has a plentiful amount of seating inside, on the upper deck, and lower deck areas. We opted to sit inside (but the doors were open, so still had the breeze/nice weather feel). You order your drinks, and food at the counter when you first walk in, then you choose your seats and wait for your orders. The flights were very quick, and the food was fairly quick as well. Overall, their beers were very tasty (we tried twelve in total, flight sized). The food is very generously portioned, and I'm thankful the person behind the counter let me know this/encouraged me not to order the full sized salad and the chicken bites. I went with a side Caesar salad, which was perfectly sized (maybe a few too many croutons), and very good. The chicken bites were phenomenal - and there was an amazing amount of them on a tray. They were very juicy, crispy but not overly so, flavorful, and not greasy. The night we were there, there was also live music, which was a really nice touch (the guy playing did a great job). We had a server in Roswell tell us to try this brewery, and she was spot on. It was fantastic! The log style building is huge inside! Tons of seating and a big stage. The beer selection was really nice. And I love that they offer cocktails too. We took a bartender suggestion for loaded sweet potato waffle fries with cheese, bacon, and green chili. They were drool worthy. This might be one of the most aesthetically pleasing breweries I've ever seen in any state. The outdoor patios were abundant and beautiful too. read more

Downshift Brewing is one of the few spots in my opinion that have good food and also a nice spot to hang out. Pizza is very thin, so I wouldn't say it will hold you down, but it was pretty good. The dip we had was good and everything was fresh. You order at the front, get a buzzer and go back to the counter to get your food, so it comes out pretty fresh and quick. We came here after a day of driving around Ruidoso so we can unwind with some drinks, which were well made. Everything was spot on, recommend if you're looking for a chill spot with good food and drinks. As always, straight from the plate. read more

Our last couple visits to Downshift on the River before we moved were great! We went a few nights with friends and once for brunch. I can still confidently give them 5 stars for all around good food, good vibes and great people. The brunch; it is okay. Now, coming from Austin we have high brunch expectations, so this brunch is good, but not great. The coffee is very good, I always enjoy the coffees here. The French toast is okay, a little too thin and for the price maybe have one item of protein to go with it. The chicken and waffles is okay; chicken was a little bland especially compared to the flavorful chicken bites but the waffle was crispy yet fluffy, good combo. Came with honey instead of syrup, and not enough of it. I'm sure if Brunch stays a thing here they will update and add to the menu. The pizza and chicken bites are our go-to choices for dinner when we go. They have the tiny pepperonis, aka the best pepperoni, and a good sauce to cheese ratio. The chicken bites are a great serving size to share w friends and we always get them w ranch and bbq sauce. The bbq sauce is a little spicy so the ranch helps to balance that out. The chicken is always juicy and crispy and has enough flavor you don't need sauce if you prefer to go without. Highly recommend both locations! We were very disappointed with the green Chile cheesesteak: no green Chiles and very little cheese with very little onion and pepper. Who serves a green Chile cheese steak without green Chiles? We were a little surprised the place was basically self-service. Ordered a flight (bartender's choice! after I told him I liked hazy and sours) and the supreme pizza. Had to get a glass of water and plates for ourselves. The flight came out pretty quickly and all the brews were good. The pizza came out quickly also and was very good! The entire staff was very accommodating and helpful but I have to say a special thanks to Tom. We had a great lunch here a few months ago and enjoyed the weather on the upper patio. Service was quite slow in checking back with us so we had to keep getting up to find someone to refill our drinks. Even going up to the counters we waited a bit because no one noticed us. The place was not that busy at the time we were there. A few weeks ago, a friend and I went for coffee. We were both disappointed to get our coffee and find it barely warm. We returned to the counter to ask for hot coffee but no one came to the front to help us so we left our full cups on the counter and left to get coffee down the street. We loved when Sacred Grounds was there and were hoping for the same service, coffee and pastries (fresh & better selection) but were disappointed that it now is not. We will give them another chance though and see if it's any better for coffee/pastries. read more

A quick walk from our camp ground and a great place for a late lunch! We sat on the patio overlooking the river and watched two elk grazing below. We tried two of the IPAs, Apex and Snowday. Both were delicious, perfectly hoppy, ice cold and refreshing. We also had the Porky pizza which was fantastic! We loved the spiciness of the jalapeños, the thin, crispy crust and the thick layer of cheese with all of the pork. The service was outstanding and the prices were excellent!
