The food itself is everything you would expect from any Sonic Drive-In- when you can actually get it. The problem is that since Covid, the ownership/management has made understaffing a permanent and intentional part of the business model. The employees that are actually there seem to be working hard to try to make the restaurant run and the customers happy, however there never seem to be enough of them on the clock to actually run the place successfully. Ownership/management doesn't seem to get the message that it's too much to ask to have the same people take the orders, make the food, deliver the food, and do all the other maintenance tasks required in a successful restaurant. It always results in poor service and overly extended wait times, no matter how hard the employees on the clock try. In fact, I have abandoned my attempts to get food before placing my order twice this week, after waiting 15 minutes first time, and 10 minutes the second time (during normal business hours with other potential customers present). The thing is, anything that is available on the Sonic menu is available at other, competing establishments within a mile or two of this location, and with similar or better quality and value. It's not even that ownership/management can claim the local labor market is at fault, because there are so many competing restaurants nearby and in town where you can get similar, or better food, and better service. The sad part is, employees and customers keep trying, but ownership/management just isn't getting the message about their poor business practices. read more

This sonic is the worst to be completely honest, i never leave bad reviews... but this one was enough to leave one! Not only did we have to wait 15 minutes to talk to someone, they hung up the stall and we had to pull through the drive thru. We placed the order and got to the window, the dude was nice enough. But they forgot to bag half of the order... if we wouldnt have checked we would have left with 10 dollars of product missing. On top of that they got almost every single thing on our order wrong. Based on popcorn chicken waiting time in the past and the number of cars in the lot, I did NOT expect delivery within two minutes of placing my order. I was frankly shocked. In a great way. You can see from the picture this is snack size, nowhere near Hungry Man kind of fighting weight. Given the lightning delivery speed I'd have bumped them up a star but the smallest finger was more crunch than anything and waaaay dry. Just no. I ordered a large unsweetened tea with extra ice and extra lime. I got unsweetened tea with a moderate amount of ice and NO lime. Did I mention they charged me $1 for the lime I DIDN'T get? Stopped on drive from Dallas to SAn Antonio. Tried to order and person taking orders was exceptionally RUDE! I left! Poor customer service!

I waited like 3-4 minutes at the drive thru and the girl just kept asking to hold on.... the two cars in front of me had like 1 item each and they waited at the window for a long time. I ordered a large slush - before 10 am so on sale for $1.47) and I asked her if the still had the "mini" toaster sandwich and she said yes. I ordered one. She asked what kind of meat....I repeated a mini bacon. She repeated the order and I said MINI. At the window she charged me over $6. I asked aren't the drinks on sale... she said not medium. I said I ordered a large. She said she would fix it. She gave me my food and the receipt (not detailed). Still charged over $6. I asked for the detailed receipt and she had to pick it up off the floor. I then told her she charged me for a full sandwich and a medium drink still. I told her I ordered and Mini sandwich and a large drink and that my order shouldn't be more than $4-$5. She just stared at me. I have a soft spot in my heart for Sonic. It's simply a great concept. Especially at the time of the year when you can roll down your windows, enjoy an evening breeze, and not worry about sitting in a small puddle of your own sweat as you eat... I had a great time with my dad here the other night. After securing some pepper spray at Academy to deter any more would be 4 AM door bell ringers at the new pad, he surreptitiously drove us past the Sonic nearby. After minimal arm twisting, I ordered a classic hot dog, a small order of tots, and we split a Coke Zero. He hit the jackpot with a delicious Frito Pie wrap. Get out of my face. We topped it all off with a couple vanilla cones. Total spent: less than $7. Why I love Sonic: I love the car hops. The ones in San Marcos always seem to be top notch and I don't quite know why that is. Whether it's the Rattler or Bobcat spirit, they always seem to be in great moods and genuinely friendly. I also love the prices. Everything is from your car. It's like a drive-in movie, which I don't know why they no longer exist, because that too is a great concept. The one ding: Our cake cones were stale...really, really stale. Not okay....yes, I ate it. I always end up spending more time at Sonic than I set out to. I love to tune my station to some mellow music or to NPR and just sit back and watch the sky unfurl. Me and my family went to order ice cream last night 30 minutes before this location closed. We ordered 6 items in total 3 blasts and 3 shakes. We got charged for 7 items (an extra large shake was added for some reason) and we only got the 6 items that we tried to order. Our carhop repeated everything back to us correctly but on our receipt, everything was mixed up and wrong, not what she said. We added extra items into our large sakes and blasts and they did not add them in, they added extra items to some that we did not ask them too and our blasts were of milkshake consistency, melted very quickly. I called he store, the manager said there was nothing they could do about the consistency of the items because their ice cream machine was over worked and just making ice cream like this. Why did you not tell us of this problem in the first place? I would not have ordered blasts in the first place if I knew I was going to get all shakes (blasts are more expensive) In the end we spent over 40 dollars on 4 large shakes (when we only ordered 3 and only got 3!) 1 large blast 1 medium blast 1 small blast the only thing right with our order was the medium and small blast and they still were milkshake consistency, very disappointed!!!!
