    Potato Skins were good
    Toni S.

Talked up this place to my daughter so much that we decided to go while we were in town. The parking lot was packed at 1 pm on a Saturday. I have to say that each time we have come here we could tell these were college kids waiting on us because we were ignored for a while as we waited to be acknowledged to be seated. That has happened before as well. We got in and were seated and started with the potato skins since they were so good before. Unfortunately, they changed the cheese to a cheese wiz consistency and it was not nearly as much bacon as before. We were a little disappointed. But the main course was the Buffalo Chicken sandwich! It was just as good as before! The onion rings didn't seem the same either but I may be remembering incorrectly. My daughter loved it! We will definitely be back, but most likely to get a to go order.

    9. Southwest Cheeseburger with two onion rings ($1.99)

I recently visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner and while it had some positives, there were also a few drawbacks. The food was average. I tried the Cajun grilled chicken with rice and broccoli cheddar soup. While the broccoli cheddar soup was decent the consistency was a bit thick and clumpy. The highlight of the show was the Cajun grilled chicken. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. The Spanish rice was ok. I had a bite of the Southwest burger and that was really good. Flavors were on point and cooked perfectly. I may need to order that for the next time. The restaurant does have plenty of space inside for getting together with friends and family which makes it a good option for hosting parties or large gatherings. Another big plus is the ample parking, which made arriving and leaving easy. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It took a while to get our orders taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Don't get me wrong the server was nice and wonderful. We were just a large group. She was assisting us alone and she definitely could have used some help. This restaurant was definitely an adequate place if you need space for a group.

Love stopping here when in San Marcos. I have loved the Broccoli Cheese soup since my visits here when I was in college, sooooo comforting. Onion rings are always a good choice. We tried an item from the Brunch menu. Tater tot Casserole was good. Potato Skins are very good. Bright casual place with attentive waitstaff. Always a must stop on my list.

    Philly Cheesesteak

Well this Philly Cheesesteak is pretty sad. Meat is tasteless. Not a lot too. Fries good. But stay away from this. It says it's supposed to have queso but have no idea where it is. Peppers and onions as well. Service was good. Ambitious is ok. Sat outside and was windy but not there fault. Thai is the smallest cheesesteak I have ever had. And it wasn't hot either. The Bloody Mary was nasty. This would have tasted better with Spicy V8!! It tastes like it looks. No salt around the rim.

Good selection of food. Service was a little slow. Ambience was nice with lots of windows on the river.

The meat is seasoned and hits the spot every time - it doesn't matter what meat you get because it is all great! Tons of variation on their menu. I love getting the bowls with their various pickled veggies for the contrast in tastes. Dolma is delicious, the kebabs are delicious, the fries loaded with deliciousness are in fact delicious, and the prices for all dishes are very reasonable. Food can take a little longer, but only because the food is cooked fresh to order and not sitting in a metal container overcooking. Their pitas are stuffed to a brim with toppings and meat, and I could eat their hummus all day every day. Every time we come to San Marcos I have to try to force myself to try something new - it's hard, but we always find ourselves back at Halal Project happily full every time.

The veggies were, as always, beautiful and fresh. Halfway through I did remark to Mr R that Halal Project definitely has more flavor than Taziki, and he agreed. It did take a little longer than expected (mostly noticeable bc it's a day we had a plane to catch) but not outrageous and the results were indisputably worth it. Love to whoever wrapped these gyros sturdily enough to make eating them in the car NOT a complete disaster; we will continue to enjoy this local delight.

I really loved my 1/4 chicken korean style (spicy, gochujung). I was a bit worried when the chicken came out quick but it was on point. On the sides front, the broccoli salad was stellar. Finally the key lime pie was solid. I will definitely be back for another bite next time I'm in town.

I specifically went to this restaurant for the first time for the kimchi fried chicken sandwich. It was very tasty and I really enjoyed it. There could've been more kimchi on it. I think it's worth a try. Parking is not fun. Important to note that I am not only a very experienced cook, but I have eaten at restaurants all around the world and in the US.

Definitely avoids the crowds. We arrived and the place was maybe 1/3 full. They had a steady stream and even more take outs/food deliveries, so I knew the place was good. We just found a quite dark corner and tucked in. Started off with the A1. Shrimp & Pork fried egg roll. It was a perfect Vietnamese egg roll. You can definitely tell the national differences across the different countries and I think Vietnamese style are my favorite. Very tasty and I love the texture. We had a Blue Moon that is only second to Tsing Tao beer at an Asian restaurant. For the main course I went with the B5. Shrimp Stir Fry Noodle (Vermicelli) Bowl. It tasted very good! Glad I went with it. Next time I'll try a pork or beef. For some reason the tails are attached to the shrimp. I get it likely is much more flavorful and easier, but it is always awkward to dissect them when you are eating. I'm pretty nimble with chop sticks but I'm not a pro, so I just eat them with my hands with the tails on. But they tasted great! And the bowl was HUGE. I need to eat thru more of the menu and we will definitely be stopping by again to troll thru it.

Beware of the "5 Star" Reviews…read more Offering free drinks/apps in exchange. I do want to point out that I never submit reviews. Went in and sat down quick, yet the food took over an hour. We sat, ordered drinks along with the food when we got there. After we realized the people around us that arrived significantly later were already paying to leave, we got up to ask about our food as it had easily been 40 minutes. Got told it would be a couple of minutes, gave us waters. Mind you, we are now over an hour into waiting. Food started to roll out and we kept getting offered free chips in the meantime- sorry but this solves the situation how? We are now going to be full of chips and not food. 2 of the meals still took an extra 20 min after the majority rolled out and of course, my parents' food came out COLD. What were we waiting for on this exactly? A lady, who I am assuming is the manager, came to apologize, told us she would remove the 2 items from the ticket. We were understanding. However, she then admitted they dropped the ball- this is where this place really lost us. She stated that they tried to reheat the plates and just pass it as "fresh." Thank you for finally being honest but this truly just gave me a bad image of management. I felt like they just threw the team under the bus. We asked for the check and when we asked if she did comp the 2 plates, she gave an attitude responding, "I did, I fixed it" and then proceeded to send someone else to check us out. That is not how you manage or take ownership. As a manager myself, you take care of the person full on through to try and turn the situation around. Had she done that or had the staff communicated that they messed up when we had initially asked, we would've been completely fine instead all that happened here. We were in there for about 2.5 hours. Unfortunately left disappointed due to the good reviews we initially saw.
