In Sanford for the holiday weekend and my sister in law asked if I'd tried the Big Dill Smash Burger at Sonic. Our Sonic in Georgia is not participating in this promotion to our disappointment. So, when she said the Sanford location was, we decided to stop on our way out of town to try it. We got the double smash burger with tots and the Picklerita slushie. Let me start with the slushie. They were out of boboa but I opted for it without because I really wanted to try it. BEST SLUSHIE EVER!!! I love the flavor. It's the perfect combination of lime and pickle flavors. Best slushie I've ever had, though my husband said he's on the fence of whether he likes it or not because it's so different. Tots were good and fresh, but I didn't get much pickle flavor from them until the last few at the bottom of the container. That said, they were cooked perfectly and I have zero complaints. On to the burger... I know I'm overusing the word "best," but like I told my husband after the first bite... "This is the best burger I've had out in a long, long time." When I want a fast food burger, this is exactly what I hope for but rarely ever get. The smash patties were crispy on the edges but juicy. The bun was soft and fresh. I didn't realize it was a dill ranch sauce though. I genuinely thought it was just mayo and still, I'm not complaining. The lettuce, in my opinion, was unnecessary but added a nice texture and crunch. But the pickles... those to me, were the star. Perfectly dill, perfectly crisp. Overall, for me, this burger was a total package. It and the slushie were a solid 10/10 each. I realize this is from the perspective of someone who loves dill pickles and always asks for extra on my sandwich, but I think it's worth a try even if you don't love pickles like I do. Service lacked a little at first. We went through the drive through, the attendant took our order and then interrupted midway through and asked us to wait a minute. We ended up waiting 10 minutes before someone else came over the speaker and asked to take our order. Not sure what was going on there in the store, but the second ordering experience was flawless. All in all, it was a great experience and I hope Sonic keeps these items as a regular options on their menu. read more

Takes forever for someone to respond when you're ready to make an order, when they do finally respond you're met with a lot of attitude and the inability to answer questions or confirm your order. Asked for a side a queso with my order, didn't get it, then had to wait another five minutes to get someone to respond and had to then finally pay for it and waited forever just for a side of queso. read more

This location needs a serious turn around. The first time we came it took THREE times & 45 minutes to get our extremely simple order correct (grilled cheese, cherry limeade, burger). 2nd time we went to order 3 drinks and 2 frito chili burritos...the girl took our drink orders and said ok your total is 4.35 and hung up. Didn't even ask if that was it. So we pressed the button and didn't get an answer back to finish our order even after getting the drinks. WHICH one had to be changed out by my husband physically walking up there because it was a cherry limeade WATER instead of sprite. No we didn't stay to get the food. Not worth it. I am absolutely floored at what just happened at this Sonic location. So we drove in through the drive thru. After several comedic attempts to order two large orange juices (wait 2 onion rings? No orange juice. *minute long pause* so you want what? *insert face palm*) we get asked to pull forward. The young employee comes out and asks us what we want. We state that we want two large orange juices. She looks confused and says we don't serve orange juice. I state how they must be the only Sonic that doesn't considering it's on the menu. She is adamant about not serving OJ at this location. I ask her to go inside and ask. Young employee comes back out to the window and says yes I'm so sorry we do have orange juice I was confused, so many people ask. *insert second fave palm*. So we then order 2 large orange juices. In the last few weeks I have ordered the strawberry cheesecake slushie drink they've been slushies with just a drop of ice cream in it no whip topping like it's supposed to have and no sugar sprinkles which it's supposed to have today I ordered the buffalo chicken bites size 7 got home I live quite a ways away and there was only five I also ordered a vanilla milkshake which one it was handed out was partly thawed the whip topping on it was curdled overall I don't think I will be going back to sonics anytime soon I also waited over 20 minutes just to order and then I'm not sure how long after that to get my stuff just very unpleasant anymore read more

Sanford N.C. location is absolutely the worst 50 minutes in the drive thru, not the drive -in portion but the drive thru. Speaker box doesn't work or the employees are just ignoring it. Had to order food at the drive thru window. They still managed to mess up the order. It had incorrect food, missing food items. I ordered a chicken sandwich without mayo and with extra pickles. Instead, I got a chicken on bread only. Where was lettuce and pickles? The chicken was pink, and overcooked on edges, rubbery in places. I could not finish it because it made me sick! We ordered a plain chocolate shake and three spoons. We got a hot fidge shake with two spoons. We ordered a second chicken sandwich that had wilted lettuce and mayo. We ordered a burger that was pink inside. We waited patiently. When we pulled up to order we were told to order from the drive thru. Why could we not at least order the food there then? We had not a problem with picking up from drive thru, but it was as if they wanted to delay every step of the way! It is not good at all. Save your money. This was a waste of money and time. Today's visit went awful. We ordered ahead and then pulled into stall # 8. Our car hop server was a delight. However it took out 20 min to receive our food. And then we were missing our medium fry. I pushed the red button to let them know so we could get our fry. They said they would bring it right out. Our receipt says we originally ordered at 2:06 pm. Around 2:40 I called back because we still hadn't received our medium fry. It is now 3:06 and I am still sitting here waiting on these fries. My food is cold, because I am not going to eat in front of my child that is missing his food. I am beyond annoyed at their service today! This is ridiculous. Just as it's my turn to place my order, an employee comes out, asks if I placed my order yet, and then tells me, "I'm sorry, we're closing." Seriously? It is 7:25 pm. While I have always enjoyed Sonic when I go there in person, I cannot say the same when ordering from Sonic through Door Dash. They certainly accept my order and take my money, so why can't they prepare the order correctly? why do they inevitably leave at least one, if not more items out of the order? are they all illiterate? And when called on it, why do they not make every effort to make it right? (Hint: telling me to drive to Sonic myself to pickup replacement items is less than satisfactory. If I felt like driving, I wouldn't have used Door Dash to begin with. And having delivered 1/2 of the order and now having to waste the time to pick up the other half presents a time dilemma as well. Do I eat the delivered half now, while it's warm, and then eat the other half 40 minutes from now after I have made to round trip to Sonic? Or do I let half get cold while I go pick up the remainder in order to eat the whole meal all at once? Sonic owes its Door Dash customers better. We are paying extra in terms of delivery fees, service fees, etc and should get fresh, hot, accurate orders instead of frequently cold and even more frequently inaccurate/incomplete ones. read more

Possibly the worst experience we've ever had at a fast food restaurant. We placed a mobile order and indicated we had arrived. About 10 minutes after our specified pick up time we pressed the red button and only then did they notify us that their slushy machine wasn't working. Another 30 minutes later we still didn't receive our replacement order and we saw 3 cars that had arrived after us receive their orders and leave. I have had bad everything here more often than not. The food and the service both. How you go from ordering one onion rings to getting 5 and being charged 3 is beyond me. Today same Supervisor must have over scheduled employees because 6 of them are on break at the same time...when I drove up to window the same Supervisor was again yelling at employees.
