During those visits, the service was excellent, the food was consistently good, and I was impressed enough to leave a very favorable review. Today, however, was a completely different story. The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet my food took an unusually long time to arrive. While waiting, I was seated near the kitchen and could clearly hear employees engaging in loud horseplay and unprofessional behavior, which did not create a very welcoming dining atmosphere. I started with a cup of the pork green chili, which I normally enjoy. It is usually served with crackers, but none were brought out. When I asked for crackers, a cracker container was brought to the table, but the crackers inside were stale and soggy. When I politely mentioned this to my server, the response was simply, "That's how we get them," before walking away. There was no apology or attempt to correct the issue. When my cheeseburger finally arrived, it was severely overcooked and very disappointing. Everyone can have an off day, and that's understandable. What concerns me most is the noticeable difference between the excellent experiences I've had previously and the poor service and food quality I received today. I truly hope this was an isolated incident because I have enjoyed dining here in the past. For now, though, I'll be taking a break before returning.

Parking is no problem. Ambience- Worlds away from fast food. Genuinely pleasant with nice tables and booths that were spotlessly clean. Pro Tip- This location does not have its own Wi-Fi but there is a Xfinity Hot Spot nearby. The App- I fired up my well-designed app, chose dine-in and placed and paid for my order. Within seconds my order status appeared on a screen near the pick-up window. Nice! It was ready in less than five minutes. Customer Service- Two folks touched me at the pick-up window, and they were very pleasant. Not much else to say. Food- I ordered a Sausage, Egg & Cheese on Ciabatta. I paired it with an Iced Latte. The tab was $11.80. My sandwich was hot and bursting with flavor. OMG, it was actually served on a plate instead of wrapped. My Latte was spot on. After years of devouring hundreds of cheesesteaks from dozens of different shops all over the country, I am proud to announce that I have been awarded the coveted CCC designation. That's right, I am now A Certified Cheesesteak Connoisseur! What's a CCC you ask? We sneak into sandwich shops without announcing ourselves and deliver unbiased cheesesteak reviews on Yelp! That was my assignment today at this location. Of course, I was in disguise. Arriving- From US Route 27, just look for the Lowes signage. They kind of share a parking lot. Parking is usually easy peasy. The App- It's solid and I have two comments. 1.- It doesn't have a "Dine In" option which drives me crazy as other chains have it. 2.- The "Customization" section allows for special requests, which is a much-appreciated feature! Wi-Fi- There doesn't appear to be customer Wi-Fi, but Xfinity folks will be happy that there is a hotspot nearby. Ambience- They have a couple of tiny tables outside which are basically in The Lowe's parking lot with tiny umbrellas. I'd rather have a root canal with no pain meds that eat outside here! Inside there is a line of 2-tops against a wall and you'll find yourself uncomfortably close to the folks waiting in line to order. It's clear that this is a mostly take-out place. As expected, everything is spotless. Customer Service- I've been here many times, and everyone has always been extremely friendly and courteous, so 5 stars. Cheesesteaks- They have tons of different hot & cold subs, but this is a BEEF cheesesteak only review. I used the app and there are four varieties available all with the standard 8" at about $11. You can customize quite a bit but if you go into the shop to order you can do just about anything! For this visit I ordered the Big Kahuna. Beef and extra white American cheese (not Cheez Whiz) along with red & green peppers, onions, mushrooms and jalapenos. It was ready on the pickup shelf when I arrived. OMG, see my picture! This was a monstrous, 5-napkin sammich. Hard to eat because of the amount of fillings but true cheesesteak connoisseurs will drool! If you are a cheesesteak aficionado, the elephant in the room is the roll. This is not an Amoroso roll (Philly readers know what I mean), but it is very good and baked fresh several times a day. The beef was grilled nicely, juicy & tasty, with no fatty chewy pieces and the taste and amount of cheese was spot on. The veges were fresh and an appropriate amount. This was definitely a top-shelf sandwich. I had a food orgasm with every bite! Value- This is one of the most satisfying cheesesteaks you can get from a chain shop! Sometimes you can get a bigger sandwich from a private shop, but the quality and customer service can be hit or miss. Conclusion- If you desire to be a CCC like me, tough, I made it up! This is at least a 4.0-star cheesesteak and probably 4.5. If you're not in Philly, it's among the best you can devour! When you add in the service, cleanliness and value, I'm going 5 stars for the beef cheesesteaks!

This review is all about the often-ignored hotdog. So, what do you need to know about this bad boy? 1. It's all beef and made by Hebrew National. The dog is Kosher, but the meal is not because it is grilled on the same grill as bacon and other stuff. Bottom line, they start with a great dog. 2. The dog is split lengthwise before it is grilled. Because of this it needs a slighter bigger bun. More about this later. 3. All the burger toppings are available for the dog. Pro Tip #1- If you are insane, you can order cheese on your dog here. If you do, they will use a Kraft Single! Crazy right! I would rather have a root canal with no pain meds than do that! Pricing- 5Gs is infamous for being spendy! I call it the "Gasp!" factor. I ordered a dog, small Cajun Fries and a small drink and it set me back $14.49. This is much better than a burger meal so the gasping is much less. Presentation- You know the deal. The dog is wrapped in foil and at the bottom of a brown paper bag. On top are about a bazillion delicious fries. Pro Tip #2- Many folks think the fries should be crisper. Just ask and they will be happy to accommodate you and make them extra crispy! Unwrap the foil and you'll immediately see what I mean about the slighter bigger bun. I don't normally cut my dog in half but I did for this review so you can see a cross-section of the split dog. Taste- This is one seriously good dog! You get a nice snap when you bite into it. You can really taste the beef and it is very nicely grilled and caramelized. Among the big chains, most reviews place this dog in the top 3 and sometimes #1 in the country! I would agree. To me, a dog, fries and a drink here is a five star meal!

Brand Positioning- Firehouse Subs is known for its premium meats and cheeses, on toasted private-recipe sub rolls. They are also known for a custom mural inside each location. Finally, their subs are heftier than most competitors. You should expect the ambience, customer service and the food to all be significantly above average. Arriving- They are seconds off US Route 27 Northbound and a snap to find with a small parking lot. Ambiance- Who the hell cares in most sub shops but not here! All the décor is firehouse related and is very impressive! The mural is the actual Sebring Fire Station and beyond impressive! The place was spotless! Wi-Fi- Free with no password needed. Also, power outlets are much more numerous and available here than in most sandwich shops. Much appreciated! Customer Service- Ten stars! I was greeted immediately and mentioned that my Pickup was actually Eat In. An employee jumped to it, asked me where I wanted to sit and brought my order to me on a tray. Beats unpacking a pickup order! Pro Tip- Their fountain beverages are Coke (Freestyle machine) products, and they offer the Layes line of chips. Food- I ordered the 8" New York Steamer combo with chips and a small drink at about $14. This sandwich had corned beef, pastrami, provolone and assorted condiments. It was available instantly as I ordered ahead. As advertised the bread was toasted and a bit denser than some competitors. OK, first of all, I'm a food critic. I worked in executive five star dining and I know several…read moreMichelin chefs. But, every once in a while, even a guy like me wants to order a delivery pizza. At first, I was told, "no" they would not delivered to me. Because I am 1 mile outside of their radius. The young guy I spoke with recommended instead that I called Lake Placid Papa John's which is ridiculous because I'm exactly 30 seconds south of Highway 98. I think the guy was just trying to pass the buck. However, I called Lake Placid and they also said I was outside their delivery radius and that made a lot more sense to me because it would be like calling Denver, Colorado and asking for a pizza to be delivered to Florida. So what do you do? I ended up calling the Sebring location back and asked for the manager. I got Lexi on the phone. That was the manager's name. She was a young lady, but she seemed intelligent and open minded, because when I explain the circumstances to her she said, "yeah that is ridiculous" I also explain to Lexi about how much money they were losing out on because they were not willing to extend their delivery radius to the entire Sebring area. They were missing out on business from all of the people south of HCA hospital now if you think about it that's a lot of people and a lot of money to be missing out on. The radius gap between the Sebring delivery area and the Lake Placid delivery area does not touch. This means there is a huge gap where they are missing all of the Spring Lake and all of the people who live just off Highway 66. Ridiculous! I mean, if I'm a business owner and I have a pizza business, I'm gonna make sure that I cover the entire Sebring area because I'm not about to miss out on money from people because of a 1 mile extra driving radius. Lexi went on to explain to me that she was going to go ahead and allow the delivery, but she also told me that she could not guarantee that every manager would make the same choice at Papa John's. I agreed that that was likely to happen and I understood. Now the pizza: there are a lot of pizzas in this town and a lot of these guys who make them are from New York City so you're not missing out on good quality pizza here in Sebring. I will say that most of the time the sauce is very acidic no matter where you go. Papa John's sauce, which I have not had in sometime, at least 20 years has a definite sweetness. It had a good aroma, and while not punched with herbs it did satisfy the palate in a balanced way. I enjoy the sweetness that they have in their sauce whether they slow cook the onions or just added a little sweetener to the sauce. both are fine it's a matter of taste. Italians will choose one or the other. They all typically use their onions to gain this type of exposure in the flavor by a quick sear and sauté of the onions to gain a bolder aroma, or a slow cook of the onions in order to sweeten them. We ordered the new New York style pizza, and while there is not a consistency in the two pizzas we received the first one was more New York style in the crust. Well, the second one was denser and the crust endings were not equal in size, thickness, or make, but for a commercial pizza, it filled the stomach. In this review, I am complementing the manager more than anything for her ability to deliver to us. You often do not see this in commercial businesses. They are usually very stoic and black-and-white on their terms. For Lexi to think outside the box and be willing to make a personal judgment was appreciated. She was a good manager, and she is being recognized for that purpose. You hardly see this ever so kudos to you Lexi, and thank you for being a good manager!
