I hate having to revise a positive review, but unfortunately today's visit was a very different experience. Over the last two months, I have eaten at Village Inn in Sebring several times. During those visits, the service was excellent, the food was consistently good, and I was impressed enough to leave a very favorable review. Today, however, was a completely different story. The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet my food took an unusually long time to arrive. While waiting, I was seated near the kitchen and could clearly hear employees engaging in loud horseplay and unprofessional behavior, which did not create a very welcoming dining atmosphere. I started with a cup of the pork green chili, which I normally enjoy. It is usually served with crackers, but none were brought out. When I asked for crackers, a cracker container was brought to the table, but the crackers inside were stale and soggy. When I politely mentioned this to my server, the response was simply, "That's how we get them," before walking away. There was no apology or attempt to correct the issue. When my cheeseburger finally arrived, it was severely overcooked and very disappointing. Everyone can have an off day, and that's understandable. What concerns me most is the noticeable difference between the excellent experiences I've had previously and the poor service and food quality I received today. I truly hope this was an isolated incident because I have enjoyed dining here in the past. For now, though, I'll be taking a break before returning. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a nice sit-down meal at the Village Inn. Alexis was our server, and she was very attentive and pleasant throughout our visit. My wife ordered the Mix & Match half turkey bacon avocado melt along with a cup of tomato basil soup, and both were very good. I had the grown-up grilled cheese sandwich with fries. The bread had a crusted Parmesan cheese on the outside with basil, and the sandwich was filled with bacon, tomato, and several types of cheese. The fries were seasoned with what tasted like a salt-and-pepper blend, which was a nice touch. Overall, the food was very good and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend stopping in. read more

I smelled it the minute I stepped foot inside. The accumulation of spilled food has bonded at the molecular level with the carpet. Who installs carpet in dining spaces? Aside from that, things were okay. I had the VIB and selected scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and French toast. The portions were just right and the French toast was delicious. The hash browns were a bit over cooked and 95% crispy. My wife ordered a turkey melt and the server informed her they were out of turkey and offered ham instead. Plan B was a tuna melt. It smelled suspiciously like cat food but must have tasted fine since she finished it. The fruit on the side was fresh and sweet. We each had lemonade and it tasted good but no pulp tells me it's a mix. read more

These folks are a chain that began in the 50s. You can't stick around that long without at least acceptable meals. I've been to this location a few times because my elderly mother really enjoyed it. It's been 7 years since my original review so it's time for an update. I blew in here on a Sunday around 8 am for breakfast. Arriving- They are on the southbound side of US 27 and simple to find. Giant parking lot so that's no problem. Pro Tip- Like many businesses that front a busy hwy, there is an entrance/exit on each side of the building. One has a traffic light onto Route 27 and the other doesn't. When you leave, can you guess which one you should pick? Ambience- Dated but spotlessly clean and kept in beautiful shape. Lots and lots of booths. Covered outside seating is available. Pro Tip- Free Wi-Fi. It's slow but gets the job done! Customer Service- Better than excellent! Seated immediately with coffee & a menu right away. Friendly and efficient server. Checked on appropriately. I couldn't ask for more! Food- Standard American breakfast menu with the addition of a few specialty skillets. I chose the Bacon & Chili Crisp Skillet with scrambled eggs. Note, don't expect chili but chili seasoning. It came with toast and of course, I added coffee. The pre-tip tab was about $15. The skillet base was crispy potatoes topped with diced onion & tomato, bacon, mozzarella cheese, and my scrambled eggs. The chili seasoning was there but wasn't too spicy and overall, the dish was very satisfying. For $30, I had a three course meal- pie, salad, and dinner. The salad, pie, hashbrowns, and Texas toast was good. Everything else, besides the potatoes was edible. I was not a fan of the potatoes. We stopped for Free Pie Wednesday and had free pie, so no big complaints. read more

Stopped by for lunch. A rather large young woman attempted to check out a customer and could not get it correct. She charged for things she did not have and was totally inept at using their point of sale software, to the point she left to get help. After the 15 minute wait and 10 people in line waiting to be seated, we left. The lady was still waiting to be checked out. Training is an important tool! read more

Village Inn is a pretty decent chain with restaurants in a double dozen or so states. While they offer a solid lunch and dinner menu, breakfast is their sweet spot. Oh, and pies. Don't forget pies. So on my first morning in Sebring, I hit up something consistent for breakfast. Clean parking lot and the restaurant looked quite tidy. Staff was attentive and smiling. Not very busy at 8 am on a Monday, so I was brought to a table quickly. My order was taken, my coffee was brought and then my breakfast arrived a few minutes later. As ordered, a Western omelet. A good amount of cheese and other stuffings, plus home fries and toast on the side. Quite filling and quite tasty. I can't complain. They seemed truly disappointed that I didn't get a pie to go, so I was reminded to come back later for pie. read more

I've given this place two chances. First time they where very busy and I chalked up all my complaints to that fact. Second time I'm sorry they just don't get it. The restaurant is just dirty. The staff is miserable to be there and they let you know it. I won't be giving them a third try. Everytime I come here the service is out of this water and the food is even better. It is a perfect stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you go here Rosie, is the absolute best waitress. She is an older woman but she certainly doesn't act it. I couldn't say enough good things about her. She was absolutely amazing, on top of everything and they were busy when we went in there. This woman isn't paid enough for her job because she's absolutely out her killing it! Bring cash and tip her well if you have the pleasure of having her as your waitress. This place could have gotten5 stars except for one simple thing. I sat down in the booth, ordered my meal and then a dog started barking behind me. A freaking dog, a little mutt in a stroller started barking. Guess what people, it is illegal to take anything but a service dog into a restaurant. Freaking emotional support animals or you little friends don't cut it. So I had to endure the meal which was actually not bad, listening to kid tease the dog and the dog barking the whole time. What really got me going was when I asked about the dog INSIDE the restaurant, the manager said they did not know there was a dog in the stroller until is started to bark. I have never seen a child in s stroller that small, what did the manager think it was. Of course, the manager was honest when they said that once the dog began to bark, they did not know what to do. People leave your dogs in the back yard when you go to restaurants. No one likes your pets but you and secretly we all wonder what is wrong with you. read more

Let me start by saying that this exact restaurant is the one that made me fall in love with crepes! I was excited to visit them again... WAS. When we were seated our server was pleasant. We ordered I asked for my hash browns to be scattered and crispy. When we received our food I immediately noticed that my hash browns weren't cooked to order, so I asked for a small plate to put them on to so that I could have them cooked more. Dee Dee turned around while talking under her breath went and got a small plate. When she returned, she argued with me that to her they were crispy. To the point I told her never mind because I didn't even want them. So then I went to eat my crepe that required a knife and fork as it was crispy and tough. So I didn't even get to eat because by the time Dee Dee came back to check my party was more than half way through with her meal. Will never go back. No excuse for poor and rude service.. I tried one of the eggs benedict varieties - with carnitas and scrambled eggs and avocado on potato pancakes. Basically the "pancakes" were hashbrowns. I asked for the green chile sauce on the side, just to play it safe. Everything came out as ordered. The food was tasty - not spectacular, but I didn't expect it to be. The prices are a little high - two breakfasts, coffee, and a slice of pie (yes, I went there) were almost $30. The pie was tasty - and they have a lovely special on Wednesdays - you get a free slice of pie with ANY purchase from 10am to 10pm. So go in, order a cup of coffee, and try a slice of pie!
