I can't say enough good things about this donut place. These donuts will make your taste buds feel very very satisfied. In my opinion, they make the best donuts in town. What separates Sonny's from other donut places in town are taste, number of selections, and artistic touch to some of their donut decorations. My favorites are their glazed donuts and glazed donuts holes, of course, but I also love their strawberry iced donuts/donut holes. Their kolaches and breakfast sandwiches are fantastic as well. Also, this place has a great customer service. I've become one of their regulars and they remember what I usually get and asks if I'm getting my usual each time, which makes me want to keep returning. I'm so saddened to writing this review. It definitely can improve. The guy at the counter super sweet. The donuts on the other hand were AWFUL. They tasted days old. I ordered 2 donuts and 12 donut holes, the donut holes were inedible. Very hard and no point rewarming them will revive them. The other donut was also veryyy hard. I could only eat one and all of this cost $10 + a $2 tip. read more

Love this place! Donuts are made fresh every day, and they have a good selection. Though I must say that there are no "exotic" flavors, but they do the basic flavors really well (e.g. glazed, sugar, maple, chocolate, sprinkles). Their jelly donuts are excellent as well. What I do love here are the kolaches. These are the sausage-filled variety. They have large size or regular, cheese-filled sausage or regular, spicy or non-spicy. I could probably eat a dozen of these at one sitting... and then move on to the donuts. At least once a month we treat ourselves to this breakfast of champions! Place an order 2 weeks in advance. Communicated based on photos in the shop. The order was written up well. When we went to pick up custom order...it was all wrong. The wrong color pallet and messy/unprofessional icing. The piping was think and glob-by and the wrong colors. No sprinkles, details or care taken to produce anything remotely like the photos. They asked for 30 minutes to try to fix. That result was basically worse. They tried to say there was poor communication and I pointed out that the order was written up correctly. Then tried to use the excuse that there was not enough time -- 2 weeks??? I said "I am disappointed", and the shop employee said "me too". I asked for a refund and she refused. read more

As far as hole-in-the-wall donut places go, this one is pretty darn good. I went on a Saturday morning and there was a pretty good line to the door. The donuts were better than expected, plus they do some custom donuts like flower-shaped. Very cute. A small mom and pop operation that is bringing a little creativity to an overdone business. Good for them and I'm definitely there to support the local businesses instead of walking 100 feet over to the giant Kroger for something that was probably made in New York and shipped down. read more

I did enjoy this place when I first moved to Allen. Donuts are decent, not the best by any means, but they were close to my house. After going there last weekend, I will NEVER return. I enjoy who I believe it is the female owner of the store when she is there. She is very pleasant and easy to deal with. However, this past weekend I'm guessing it was the male owner of the store working. He needs to learn first off how to speak to customers. He did not understand what I was saying, which was pretty simple to understand. He was getting flustered and annoyed with me as I was picking out my donuts. Then he raised his voice at me in front of 2 other customers. I almost walked out and said screw it, I'm done here. But I kindly put a smile on and paid. But I assure you, never will I return again, and I have already told my friends about the treatment there. I'm all for local businesses, but they just lost my business. read more

I read previous reviews and tried Sonny yesterday. The prices are too expensive compared to other shops around the area. Donuts are not too bad, but tiny. I went this shop because it is very close from my home. I feel like I got ripped off!!! I am going back to the shop I used to go even though I have to drive a little bit farther. No more trying new donuts shop. If you want to spend $10 for a dozen of basic donuts, this is the place for you. read more
