Banquet burgers were great the patty seemed larger than a quarter pounder, bacon was generous. Regular size fries, more than enough for two. Nice to have actual charcoal grilled burgers. I read some reviews that claimed they only accept cash NOT SO, I used my credit card, no problem. I highly recommend Sonny's. May 2026. read more

Wanted to try this burger place for a long time and I'm glad I finally did. The service was very friendly and helped me order the most popular items on the menu. Burger- their burger was charcoal broiled and you could taste the unique flavour immediately as you bite into the burger. They had a variety of toppings as well and I highly recommend getting the caramelized onions; such a great combination with the charcoal flavour! Poutine- a huge portion for what I paid for. Fries were made fresh and the gravy complimented the cheese. The only downside is that they did not use cheese curds but overall the flavours meshed very well together. Highly recommend coming here for the charcoal broiled burgers and I will definitely be back! read more

My wife ordered a chicken wrap and I ordered a hamburger. Both items were nasty and soggy and tasted horrible. The wrap had the same sautéed veggies basically just green peppers and onions and some kind of sauce. We threw the food away and ordered pizza.Ever since the new owners the food is nothing like before with the other owners, nothing like years ago. I wouldn't feed a dead dog with that food,never again !!! read more

If you're anywhere nearby, Sonny's is Brampton's best old-school charcoal-broiled burger joint! Fresh cut fries, real onion rings, charbroiled cheeseburgers, just great nostalgic food that is slowly disappearing. Think Real McCoy, Golden Star, Burger Shack, etc. and you get it. This is my burger and frings location whenever I am in Brampton. I lived in Heart Lake years ago and moved in the early 90's back to Mississauga. This location never fails and on rare occasions, I will make the trip to Brampton for my favourite burger joint. Unlike Harvey's and Five Guys, which are my alternatives, the burgers at Sonny's are just delicious! And the Frings combo and a side a gravy, yep, that's all I need. Hello fellow foodies, today I bring you a review that is long overdue, I been eating at this place for at least the last 15 years or so ,  this place is as old as Brampton and a real landmark , been around since I was a teenager.  This place is just like Johnnys in Scarborough but the Brampton version same type of greasy late night food you crave after a hangover or after a club night or party .They  been  around serving the community  forever  since  1965  apparently. If you're looking for quality this is not the place for you, if you looking for fancy  this is also not for you , but if you're looking for a quick late  night drive in or some great  hungover food then this  is the place.  They have very large portion sizes, specially their fries /poutines and onion rings , There burgers are not small about  average size frozen patties thrown on the char-broil . If you're looking for that burger that tastes exactly like the frozen patties you throw on your home BBQ then Sonny's are identical taste and flavor. The serve hotdogs, souvlaki, fish and chips, pitas and steak sandwiches which I opted for today with some grilled onions and  BBQ sauce. Their prices however are very reasonable and have always been! Bonus points for that. 4/5  I  am  giving  this place a  very generous rating only because they  deserve it being such a Brampton landmark, I mean the quality of their ingredients are average at best probably 2.5/5 in reality, nothing extraordinaire, meaning they use frozen  meats  poor  quality products for the most part not  all etc ...Their toppings however have always been fresh in my experience no complaints there,  but you have to give them credit for having great  prices and great  greasy late-night  drive-in  food since 1965, and some of their items are actually pretty good ,  specially their fresh cut fries/poutine/onion rings and burgers  are decent and you could never go wrong with their souvlaki if you have that late night craving. My sandwich today  was decent a  very thin cut steak  grilled  nicely ,  definitely had the flame grilled flavor the grilled onions  were really nice , the bun  is that gluey type sticky not so great at all  same one they  use on their burgers , but edible under rare circumstances, lol. I have had probably everything on the menu at the is place over the years, I don't think I ever had a complaint  but I was also not impressed either it's just  that kinda food , its good  at the right moment and that's about all you're going to get. Service 5/5 I have been to this place, easily over 50  times in the past years and I can't recall a moment even during a late night rush were service was not great , fast and friendly . read more

Sometimes Sonny's gets a little busy so as I was waiting outside (due to a limit of 5 customers inside due to social distancing) another gentlemen remarked: "they still only take cash? I guess that's why they've been open for so many years. Everyone pays their bill!". To others I describe Sonny's as a step up from Harvey's. They charcoal broil their burgers (and hot dogs). It's a no frills place. Not a lot of toppings but the toppings they do have are fresh. The service is quick and friendly. I go here for burgers and fries (and sometimes poutine). I've never been disappointed. My only gripe is that it isn't cheap. A double cheeseburger, a single cheeseburger, 2 orders of fries and 2 gravies will set you back a number approaching $30. I keep going back so it must be worth it in my mind. I truly wish that more simple, non-franchise burger joints like this existed. It harkens back to a simpler time. read more

I love sonnys poutine! I order it whenever I get the chance. Although it's not the more traditional cheese curds it's shredded cheese it's honestly so good I don't even care. The portions are huge and the prices are even better. The poutine is so huge it's filling enough to be a whole meal. read more

I always passed this place and never tried it, as I always put it in my bucket list. Yesterday I went there in late evening at 9pm and was the only car. I asked the young kid with lots of ink, on what the most common burger, he recommended the Banquet Burger, as it's the most ordered item. It came up to $9.75 with 2 cans of Coke, including tax. The patties were undercooked, the burger was just all over the place; I kid you guys not it was the WORST burger ever. The young kid with tattoos doesn't even wear plastic gloves, when handling the burger, the West Indian cook making the fries is wiping his nose, very unsanitary, disgusting, go if you want food poisoning, in which today I took the day off. read more

I've brought some and suggested this diner hangout to some friends and people have mixed reviews about the Poutine. First off, they don't have cheese curds, but cheese strings. Although it was my friend who got take out from here tonight, I've had it a million times, what Brampton'er hasn't.. I have a soft spot for this basic burger joint basically so I'll give it the 4/5 rating, but clearly the burgers are frozen and from a box just like most of their other items including chicken fingers, onion rings, and most of the rest of the menu. That being said, they're open until 4 or 5 AM every night when usually the only other things open are a McDonalds or Wendy's.. Poutine and fresh cut fries are probably the highlight, as those are homemade from scratch and not frozen or commercial sourced like most of the rest of the menu. Every city has one of these places. Like Apache in Etobicoke, Johnny's in Scarborough, Zet's by the Airport, etc. The fact they still refuse to have lettuce after all these years irritates me though, especially with chicken souvlaki or grilled chicken sandwiches on the menu. read more

Banquet burger was a good size and cooked to perfection. Fries fared well in the drive back and didn't steam too much (tough not to unless you eat them on site). Cash only so bring your moolah- ATM on site if you need it but there is a surcharge. They've got your 'basic' burger offerings covered but they are anything but basic. This review is JUST for their Horrible Service. I went in late at night to this sketchy looking place, that looks like they should have an armed Security Officer late at night. It's well lit inside, but outside its dark so you wouldn't be able to read the license plate if there is a shooting. I looked at the menu, not having eaten all day and I was tired. I ask if the "special" which comes with a drink, is a can or comes from the fountain. The guy behind the counter literally says "Can't You read?" The special was only good Tuesday and its wasn't Tuesday. So My fault I guess for not reading closer, and his fault for being a BITTER guy in his late 40's working the graveyard shift in a bad burger joint. They also DO NOT take Credit Cards. We were here for dinner last week. The sandwiches we ordered were average and the onion rings to go along with it was freshly prepared. But when it comes to restaurant or any business for that matter, service matters. Cheerful and helpful counter staff who are willing to help would have been better. Sonnys is not what it used to be. 1. They changed the fries. The fries where 2nd to none at one time. Now it's just regular fries that every restaurant buys. 2. They changed the famous gravy to the same stuff every other restaurant gets. The original gravy would have people travelling far just to get it. 3. It's a different burger now as well. Not nearly as tasty. Over all I would say skip them it's not the same Sonny's as it was. Very disappointing. read more

Would recommend as a great late-night alternative to McDonalds. I order the banquet burger pretty much every time i go and they haven't disappointed me yet! Portion sizes are great too, the one order of fries is easily enough for 2 people. My only complaint is that I would prefer if they wore gloves while handling my burger. I understand they wash their hands often, it's just a pet peeve of mine. read more
