Sonny's Glass Tinting sucks. I know plenty of people who have gotten their windows tinted "darker" than they should. I show up and ask a few questions. "Nope, we don't do that. 35% is as low as we go." Alright, make sure you go sit on a bowling pin and spin. They wanted $200 for all windows + rear. I ended up going down to North Carolina (when I moved there) and got it done for $120 for 20% all around. Guess what? 5 years later and my tint still looks good. No tickets, no failed inspections, no hassle. Sonny's, can you please just close up shop? You suck! Edit: I hurt the feelings of the company I reviewed. Boo-hoo. $185 for all around is a ripoff when many other companies can do the same work for $125-150. I review anything I want, so when I remember an experience with a lousy company.....I'll review it. Just like I reviewed this joke of a business. read more

I had my '05 Infiniti G35 tinted at Sonny's a few years back. Sonny's did a remarkable job, and the car was ready 2 hours after I dropped it off. I had film that provided the darkest tint allowable by MA law (which, I believe is only 35%) installed. While I would have preferred this to be a little darker, the guys at Sonny's were very knowledgeable and informative about the laws and risks. When the car was ready, as with any tinting application, tiny bubbles still existed on the windows--all of these were gone within a few days, leaving a blemish-free viewing experience. Furthermore, the interior paneling that had been removed for the installation was reinstalled flawlessly. As for the prior reviewer's comments about the shop's hours of operation--waaaa! The place is a small business. They do excellent work. If you can't afford to take a few hours or a half day off work to get your vehicle tinted by real professionals, you probably shouldn't be spending the money to get your windows tinted in the first place... Anyway, you're free to take your car to a bigger shop where the product will likely be inferior and the application will likely lack attention to detail. All that aside, is it really fair or justified to rate a business one-out-of-five stars because you're not happy with their hours, and you haven't even seen their work or their products? Got my windows tinted once and what a nightmare. There was a scratch in the back window and they wouldnt fix. Got an excuse that maybe I put something into the car and it scratched. They dont take pride in their work nor are they professional. Go else where!!!!! read more

This place does one thing, and they do it well. They have only one grade of tint to choose from and they have "bankers hours" so if you work a mon-fri 9-5 job you will need to work your appointment in. They follow Mass law and do the darkest tint the law allows. They even have a chart to show the different states and rules and regulations for tinting. I have had two cars tinted there and I have been happy with both cars. My first car I had for 7 years, and it never bubbled or peeled or anything. My second car was done fast and at a reasonable rate. The place is hard to find as 1. they have no sign out front due to a city law because they are in a residential area, 2. they are behind a house in a large garage and because they have no sign people tend to second guess if this is really the place. Sorry, my pet peeve here.. when I tried to ask the receptionist questions, she stopped me and acted as though she wasn't capable of answering them and said someone would be right with me. Seriously, they only do one thing with one type of tint, it wasn't that hard. You can do it! ....and for the person who was upset that Sonny's wouldn't go darker than the law allowed, was it really that unreasonable that they didn't want to break the law? what will happen if you get pulled over? will you take responsibility or will you pass the buck on the business and that it was their fault? I have been pulled over for having illegal dark tint, it wasn't fun.. I got a ticket and had to go to court to prove I had removed the tint to have the ticket dismissed. Not worth it. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable which immediately impressed me from a service standpoint. I was able to drop off overnight and pick up the following day which was very convenient. Windows came out great. Took about 1 hour and 15 min. I had to wait for my car but it went by fast. It was entertaining to hear the 17 year old girl behind the desk giggle on the phone with her boyfriend for like an hour. Seriously I thought it was funny, it didn't bother me. Okay where do I start? I called to inquire about having my windshield tinted and right before I can say my next sentence the person on the phone started talking about how he can only do 6 inches from the top. I told him no I have medical waiver for window tinting which allows for my windshield to be tinted. I could tell by the tone of his voice he didn't believe me and actually question if I actually did have medical waiver. Then he politely told me he won't do it because of safety reasons so, I hung up. Now this is where it becomes weird. For some reason he decides to call me back minutes later (must have got my number from caller ID) and want to argue. He asked me does the medical waiver says you can have your windshield tinted? I explained to him New Hampshire law allows it and so do a lot of states including Massachusetts with the medical waiver. I also explained to him exactly which .gov sites explains it. But nooo Mr Sonny want to still argue and tells me it's impossible federal law doesn't allow it in no state yada yada yada I simply just hung up again. This guy is a complete jerk he seems awfully frustrated, I suggest ha different profession if you get off by arguing. And no you don't know the law you are absolutely out of touch. Ok, so figured I would right a review to show my appreciation to Sonny's. I had just moved here and my car was already tinted. Apparently, MA law prohibits tint darker than 35 percent so my car wouldn't pass inspection after bringing it to dealership. Called Sonny's, who just happened to be the closest shop and they got my car in first thing the next morning and removed my old tint. They were professional, clean, quick and friendly. also reasonably priced. What more can you ask for. Btw, anyone who complains that they wouldn't go darker than the law is just stupid. You should appreciate that they advised you and were trying to help you out. Not worth a $250 fine. read more

I have had three cars tinted by Sonny's over the last 12 years, and they have done a perfect job on each one. I am a VERY picky person and I would be annoyed if there were any scratches, nicks, imperfections or flaws whatsoever. And that is why I go to Sonny's. I went there the first time from asking around in the local car scene where other people were going - everyone said the same thing - go to Sonny's. There may be places that are a few bucks cheaper, but honestly, if you call around, Sonny's is pretty mid-range for tinting prices. What is the point of taking a risk at some car stereo shop to save $30 only to have your car scratched or the tint applied badly? Sonny's also guarantees their work - I've never had an issue but I know someone who had a complicated window (Corvette with little dots all over the rear window) that was very difficult to get the tint applied without bubbles - they re-did it after the fact at no charge. I would have liked darker than 35% too but that's got nothing to do with Sonny's - my beef is with the state law on that one. read more

How can you give a 1 star review without having any work done by them, just because they refused to do something illegal - nonesense. That review just demonstrates the authors ignorance. How can you go wrong - Sonny's Glass Tinting has been installing Madico window films for over 35 years. You can't stay in business that long without being good at your craft. They are no fly by night operation - they will be there if needed (35 years and still going). Oh, I have had 2 cars done there - no complaints, peace of mind will continue to go there and recommend others. Dismiss the 1 star rating as a joke of a review. read more

I thought I would add another perspective, this time from someone who has actually had two (2) cars tinted by Sonny's. IMHO, they do a nice, clean, professional installation. They are a pleasant enough group of folks and the Madico tints are holding up well. The waiting room could have better space for customers, but there is WiFi and, in this day and age, that is immensely useful. I agree with others here, tinting is expensive - but that seems to be the case for Boston (Mass?) in general. In other parts of the country you can get a professional job (with quality tint) for $100 to $150. I called around and Sonny's, at $185, was actually one of the lower priced. One place I went to (that a friend of mine has "been going to for years") quoted $225 plus insisted that I had to pay an extra $75 for an anti-scratch kit! The team at Sonny's looked at my car and said it was not one of those models that needed it (it was an Altima... apparently, some Hondas, Mercs, Mitsu, etc. tend to scratch tints because they don't use soft felt for the window guides, just a hard rubber material). It is also true that Sonny's will only tint your car to regulation and won't go beyond that. But I wouldn't penalize them for simply following the law. It usually takes a couple days to a week or so to book an appointment - but that just shows how much business they have. I figure that is actually a good thing. Hours certainly could be better. Naturally, the true test is after sales service and support. Knock on wood but I haven't had to test that with Sonny's. Hopefully, there will be no reason to need it. Should a need arise I will certainly let the Yelp community know how the team at Sonny's comes through. Overall, I am happy to recommend them. read more

Wow, it's a major Yelp flaw that two pretty spurious reviews of 1 star dragged their rating down so much! Both of those are baloney! Neither person had any work done - they just didn't like their rates or their hours! Here's my experience with Sonny's: about 3 years ago I arm-twisted a guy to matching my rear window tint and sure enough, a MA Statie pulled me over, whipped out a tint meter and wrote me up. Sonny's was recommended to me and so I went there and they stripped both windows, retinted with legal-level tint, and had me on the way in less than an hour. Didn't charge me for the stripping, and it was perfect. $90. Since then I bought a newer car and they tinted the fronts. In and out in an hour. Perfect. $90. On Wednesday they will do another car for me. They are nice on the phone, have a nice waiting room, wifi. What else do you want? They are really very good, friendly, efficient, and I find them priced very reasonably. 5 stars. read more

I recently brought my third auto (since 2006) to Sonny's for tinting. Their service was, as usual, great. From the start it was easy to get an appointment. They offered me an available appointment within a few days of my call with a number of times available to me. The price was very competitive and I felt it was more than fair. In addition, I knew they would do the job right. The car window tint looks great and I feel comfortable that it is within legal limits and will not cause me any future inspection or police issues. The two men that did the installation were efficient and very professional. The window tinting has helped my office to stay much cooler and decrease glare. Everything was as advertised at Sonny's. Fair price, great service, and friendly people. Yes, they will only tint to the legal limit for the state but if that's not a secret; if you get to Sonny's expecting something else then it's on you. I paid $185 to tint my sedan, other shops quoted my as much as $245. I made an appointment about a week ahead of time.When I arrived at 8AM they took the car a few minutes early. Once I took out my laptop to do some work over the complimentary WIFI, I was offered a seat at an empty cube in their office. The proper desk and chair made my wait that much easier. The car was finished about an hour and a half and I was on my way into the office. It's been about 10 days and the tint looks great and very clean. We'll see how the install holds up but Sonny's gave me a lifetime warranty on worksmanship so it seems like they stand behind their work. read more

I took my car here recently, and I'm very happy with the results.The people who work here are very nice and professional. My tint came out exactly how I wanted it. There is no sketch effect to their business, they are very legitimate. They follow the laws on tint so you don't have to worry about attracting attention from police or failing an inspection. Excellent service, the guy that tinted my car windows was knowledgeable and did a great job! I have a 2014 Mazda 6 and the 50% on the existing tint of my car is perfect...and brings me to the amount allowed by law. Total of 37%. I followed their instructions and did not wash or open my windows for a few days. It's been 2 months, the charcool has not affected the built in gps. I took my car here to get the windows tinted on on May 2nd, 2012. I had originally come in a week earlier than I was supposed to because I thought I was scheduled that day. They said they would do my car. But I didn't want to be a problem so I said I'd come in the next week when I was scheduled to come in. They ended up giving me a discount on the price. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They used the film "Madico Charcool CH55". They did a really good job. I didn't know anything about window tinting so I went on Yelp to find a good tint shop in my area. I found Sonny's and I'm glad I did. The tint looks really good. They only do up to the legal limit which is 35%. That's good because I wouldn't want to do business with a shop that wouldn't look out for me and break the law. I do wish I could go darker but this is fine. So if you need your vehicles windows tinted, take it here. Every vehicle I would ever own, I would take it here to get tinted up ASAP. read more

I went to sonny's about 3 weeks ago to have the windows tinted on my '02 maxima. I came in at 02:40 for a 03:00 appointment. Before I even got to the office the installer greeted me and asked if this was the maxima they had for the 03:00 appointment. He took my keys drove it in to their garage and I was out of there in a little over an hour. They said it would be an hour and a half to an hour and forty five minutes. I am OCD to the max about keeping my car clean. Not only did they have me out of there faster then anticipated, my car was as clean as when I gave it to them if not cleaner. The waiting area is clean and comfortable and they even have coffee as a courtesy to those who wait. I would have liked it darker then %35 but I never have to worry about being pulled over for dark tints and getting a ticket. Back to me being OCD... I looked everywhere, over every corner of glass and could not find a single imperfection! Absolutely completely flawless! I love how it looks and I no longer have a glare coming through the side windows and at night you can hardly see in. I will recommend Sonny's Glass Tinting to anyone who is looking to get their vehicles properly tinted by professionals who really take pride in what they do. I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the finished product. If anything should ever happen to this car I know without a doubt that I will take my next car and every car after that to Sonny's to be tinted. I don't know what the other guys problem was but I don't know how you could rate a business poorly for looking out for the customers best interest. They explained that it wouldn't make sense to go lower then the legal limit only to risk being pulled over and having your vehicle towed, ticketed, and tint stripped because it is illegal. If anything I think this company should get 6 stars for having the consumers best interest in mind and not letting anyone get "illegal tints." just got an acct on here,had two cars done in the same day mine&my girlfriends(EX GIRLFRIEND) done and after a few days i noticed that a piece on the corner of my drivers side window had been left a bit too long so that when the window goes down it folds and peels back a portion of the film! needless to say it needed to be fixed,i brought it in they cut it and re heated it,i let it sit for the recomended i belive it was four days. it still peeled back so......no questions asked they re tinted the whole window! that was a year&a half ago and they still look dank! well mine does! she moved out of the area!!!! read more

Got my sedan tinted in 2008 another new car in 2011.. both at Sonny's. All 4 windows, tiny windows, back windshield, and top strip on front. I think their prices are really reasonable. Very easy to work with, very friendly people, and never had any issues with their workmanship. I think I have gone there 3 or 4 times (when I had windshield replaced, needed to re-do the strip), I just schedule on the phone.. go there, and they do it immediately while you wait (doesn't take too long). Have referred everyone that asks about tinting to this place and will be bringing my new car here next year to tint too read more

I've never written a single review until now ... I can't recommend this company highly enough. I've had them do all of our cars and window in the house, and everything remains impeccable years later. All the people I dealt with were friendly, everything was done according to the description, and phone calls promptly returned. The location is not close enough to walk to town for coffee or anything, so come prepared for the wait or have someone pick you up and drop you off.
