Given the wall I've hit with my current cello, I needed to find a new and a better one. This place was recommended by my teacher from Opus1, Eliott, and as soon as we walked in, it was such an amazing experience! Abraham was so knowledgeable, friendly, and brought out a ray of cellos ranging from all price ranges just so I can get a good feel for it. The staff were all so patient and friendly with us throughout the process! What I ultimately decided was to rent a cello (3mos minimum & 8mo minimum until you're able to apply the credits to own) in the hopes of purchasing one soon! I'm glad to be taking this journey of upgrading my cello with ease due to Sono Strings! Thank you so much!!

If you're looking for a string instrument, or to get work done, this is where you should go. I'm a professional pianist but also play basic cello. I decided to upgrade to a nicer instrument and the team at Sono was absolutely great. Abraham, Connie, and Jason were all very friendly, approachable, and helped with every question I threw at them. I think shopping for an instrument that has so much work and detail invested in it can make it easy to be intimidated. But Abraham helped with several cellos in my price range and gave friendly encouragement along the way. I'm grateful for all his assistance and knowledge. Thank you, to everyone at Sono! You've been a wonderful help! I couldn't recommend anyone more.

Store needs a proof-reader or a lesson in grammar

Staff was rude and condescending. I was trying to support a local music business by making purchases here, but it was a waste of my time. As another reviewer has mentioned, come here if you want to have someone talk to you condescendingly and display an utter lack of knowledge about violins or customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere. The description shows they need help with grammar as well: "Sono Strings specializes in Violin's, Viola's, Cello's...." This made me actually laugh out loud! The tagline of this business should be 'Speak condescendingly and carry a tiny stick'.

Getting the hang of the instrument.

Excellent collection of violins. Bought a handmade violin from them which was well worth the price!

Finding a good musical instrument repair shop is an art…read more Quicksilver Music came recommended and I was delighted at the outcome. Bob Zacher is an experienced technician. He quickly diagnosed the reason my clarinet wasn't sounding. Not only did he repair the problem- the same day! - but he replaced or reseated some of the pads and gave the instrument a thorough "tune-up"; such that the clarinet plays and feels like a new instrument. In fact I don't believe it's ever played like this up to this point. This all at what I would consider a very reasonable price. In fact it was slightly under the estimate given when I dropped it off. Bravo Bob!

Haven't written a 5-star review in quite a while, but Quicksilver absolutely deserves it…read more My high school alma mater from back in the day was having an alumni concert in dedication and homage to the band director there who plans to retire at the close of the school year in a few weeks. Given that I played under him back in high school and enjoyed my time in band, I knew I had to be there. So I took out my trusty ol' tenor saxophone that hadn't been played in ages. It didn't take too long for muscle memory to kick in and for me to remember how to read music and play the instrument itself. BUT I still had a problem. Whenever I'd blow into it, I'd hardly get any sound unless I blowed very hard. I figured that, after all these years, the pads inside were worn out. Back in high school, for any work needed on my sax, I'd go to World of Music in Cupertino and West Valley Music in Los Altos. WoM ended up closing, but WVM was still nearby. However, I found Quicksilver from a simple Yelp search and read almost all great reviews, so off I went. Facts: * They're located in a small building on Imperial Ave in Cupertino. The only available parking is street parking, but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a place to park. * It's a bit dirty and cluttered inside, but don't let that dissuade you. The guy who runs the business knows what's he's doing. * They , from what I could tell, don't accept appointments. I believe they're pretty much walk-in only. * The owner, Robert, is really nice and will look at your instrument on the spot. In my case, he looked at my saxophone and determined right then and there what was needed, how much it would cost, and how long it would take to be ready to be picked up. He did warn me that he, admittedly, isn't the best at calling customers when their instruments are fixed so to call him instead. I left my sax there for roughly one week. After the week had passed, I called and Robert said it was ready to go. All in all, I paid $196.15 for replacing worn out pads and a few other things that needed, but it was well worth it. The sax sounded so much better, and I was able to partake in the concert. Overall, if you need your woodwind or brass instrument to be repaired, this is the place. Robert is a G. I was a complete novice, and loved the fact that I could bring whatever songs I wanted to sing, and she'll figure out how to help me achieve my goals, giving me homework like "practice your meows!". I improved a lot over the time with her, and figured out how to find different positions to produce different types of sounds. She's also flexible, I travel a lot, and she offers Zoom lessons or async lessons (you send videos to her, she send videos back of her feedback). She also formed a great community with her students, and we do group karaoke, dinners/outings etc, so the connection goes beyond lessons. I know she offers different packages (e.g. group classes) based on your time commitment and cost expectations, so I definitely suggest going over the options and figuring out what works for you.

Joann is a business woman. Money is all that matters to her. We just did a trial lesson with her…read more During the lesson, she stopped to remind me that I owe her $10 for the balance of the trial lesson. This already gave a red flag to me. She wants to secure your payment before anything else. She also has contracts that you need to adhere to for 6months. The contract does not include or indicate any cancellation policy so I presumed you will be obligated to stay and pay her for six months no matter what, even if you decide to stop in the middle. She does not give refunds. I paid her for the first month for a supposed youth group lesson, my son only went once. We're supposed to bring in the signed contract on the first day but I forgot so kept on reminding us to bring it. I find it excessive and sketchy. This made me decide not to commit. It seems to me she has to secure the payments first before teaching. I have no doubts that she can teach, of course she can, although you can never find any music school she went or any proof of formal training she claimed . I believe she just teaches by experience. I kept on looking at her numerous pages in fb,youtube, yelp and google but I can't find anything that says where she went for music school. All you can see is her experience as a singer and musician. One more thing, the studio is in her house. When students arrive for their timed lessons, they have to wait at the door standing and wait for her to let them in. She should provide at least chairs for those kids to sit. By the way I mentioned she does not give refunds but she does offer credits for you use it however you want it, private lessons or other stuff she offers(there are a lot).We refused the services she offered, I'll just count my loss. Too much commercial transactions, she's gearing away from the purpose of why students go to her.
