Their Incredibly efficient and friendly staff guided us through a jiffy check in, collected our info and insurance and my son received immediate attention, diagnosis and eyedrops to cure his infection. I have been going to Sonoma Eyeworks for a few years. I've always had great service BUT no longer. There has been a complete turn over staff in past three or four years. I received service from an unprofessional person who talked to me like I was their friend. Didn't introduce themselves, used the term 'we' in conversation (there was no we in my purchasing of eyewear) and terms one would use with a friend not a customer. I did not feel confident or comfortable in their ability to provide best care in service. I did not complete my purchase . Wish I had read other reviews before going to site...I would have requested a person by name that had great review! read more

My frame's stem hinge broke and I went in to see about getting it fixed. Even though they don't sell the frames, a hinge was located. The frame was fixed in no time and it cost nothing. I was thrilled. What a great experience. read more

The staff was so friendly and I was very impressed with the layout of the store as well. It was busy for a rainy day but everything was flowing and everyone including me was greeted promptly. And everyone seemed genuinely nice with a smile as well. I saw Dr Jeffrey Ricks and he was GREAT! He was direct and thorough and made me feel at ease that i didn't have anything major to worry about with my eye concern. Upon checkout, I'm usually pretty nervous that I'm going to be given the go around and charged up the wahzoo, but it was pleasantly affordable. Lots of really beautiful frames to select from including known designer brands and eye wear designer brands. Super friendly staff, and part of the VSP network. I love this little shop! It is chalk full of beautiful frames and uber friendly staff. I always feel like I am greeted by friends when I show up for my appointments or pick up my specs. Everyone is super nice, and genuinely wants to fit you into a gorgeous frame to accent your beautiful face. My last excursion lasted almost 2 hours, they are also patient - did I mention that? They let you work through your process and if you need to try on every frame they accommodate your whims. I don't recommend this little gem if you don't have insurance, as the designer brands are hard on the pocket book if there is no relief to the bottom line. However, it is worth every penny to look and feel beautiful in your new specs. I'm personally a fan of Chanel, but they have all kinds of brands I have never heard of that are apparently big in the eyeglass world. They even have an imported company from France with handmade frames where the whole company has an invested say in the product that goes out to the world. They are a little wild for my taste, but for those who are sassy and want something unique this is the spot to hit! read more

My wife and I are patients of Dr. Ricks and buy our glasses and lenses there. Dr. Ricks is attentive and knowledgeable. We've been happy with his attention to our eye issues. He tested me and saw a few items that he felt warranted a visit to to North Bay Eye Associates. They tested me as well and found that whatever Dr. Ricks saw had healed itself over a three month period. I applaud Dr. Ricks for attending to this and making sure I was OK. read more

When I purchased my sunglasses I knew I paying a little more service and quality, so much for that. The lenses in my sunglasses, which I paid over $700, started flaking. When returned to store to have them replaced or repaired, they said my glasses got to warm and they wouldn't do anything about except charge me another $600 plus to replace them. As I left the store, using their logic, I was wondering maybe I should have only wore them at night. Needless to say I won't be going back and I suggest you think about it. Chef rj read more

My husband and I brought in some frames we had purchased in Milan to have them fitted with prescription lenses. Designer eyeglass frames are cheaper in Europe, AND they are always willing to negotiate the price. It's just not done that way in the states, unfortunately... I had a full eye examination and I was especially happy to see they had the latest equipment and technology available. They had a Vision Profiler and also a machine that performed a digital retinal scan. Very impressive. It is a small store but apparently progressive. I especially liked the optometrist utilizing both the latest technology and traditional means (eye chart and phoropter) to determine and double check results. He then compared these results with the results obtained at my last examination with my previous optometrist. In my old Optometrist's defense, they were pretty much the same. I had five frames fitted for my prescription but they took the time to do each one and make sure it was correctly fitted and noted to prevent confusion at the lab. They were not rushed in dealing with me thankfully although I'm sure they hadn't counted on fitting so many eyeglass frames because I forgot to mention it when I originally made the appointment. Although I have yet to receive the completed glasses (they told me two weeks which I thought was wonderfully fast), my experience so far has been delightfully positive. I have a complicated prescription involving progressive lenses, next level 'transitions' darkening and coatings for computer use (blue light contributes to digital eye strain and may increase the risk of macular degeneration, fyi...) so we'll see if all turns out well once I receive all my glasses. Until then, I have submitted a four-star review but will update to a five if my glasses are received within the window of time specified and are correctly done. Fingers crossed! read more

This place is wonderful. Warm, inviting and classy. My wife and I had a great experience from the time we entered to the time we left. The entire staff was warm, friendly and very informative. Not only was there no pressure to purchase anything we were not interested in, but we had all our needs addressed in a timely manner. Also available and my favorite is their OptoScan, which is the latest in eye imaging technology. It's used to produce an image of your the inside of your eye, but will capture a larger more detailed area and then display it in a 3D rendering. All this WITHOUT the dreaded dilating. My wife and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who has any vision needs and will definitely return in the future regardless of the fact that we live an hour away. I recently broke my titanium frames that I've had for at least 20 years. The ear piece broke where it attached to the glass. I was worried that I'd be w/o glasses for a couple of weeks since this happened a few days before Christmas. I had a backup pair & they were able to use the earpiece from them on my current broken pair. Kudos to Malcolm - he was friendly, courteous & fixed the glasses within minutes right there on the spot! Then refused to charge me anything! Terrific service at no cost & I wasn't even a client. I will be from now on! read more

I went here looking for a pair of Lafont's that a friend had that I loved. I was greeted warmly & helped by a woman who was dressed stylishly, with frames to match, but who wasn't snooty or snobby at all. She was very helpful & I had fun trying on so many frames. I did settle on the frames I'd come seeking, and they made it very easy. Cost is high, even with insurance, but the experience was nice & unrushed. I've bought subsequent frames elsewhere, but continue to update the lenses in the Lafonts from Sonoma Eyeworks...in fact I'm wearing them now & first bought them 3 frames ago. My husband has been in contacts for 35 years. He'd been with same doctor from childhood but the contacts were never right nor were the glasses. There's was always something off about the script and we were told that his eyes were a hard fit and constantly changing. Believing his old doctor of 30 years, he settled for what he thought was the best they could do. They never seemed to focus or they were popping out and we were told that it was the best that could be done and to have lasik surgery. I give them a 10 for service. Talked to Angela who was super patient and helpful. My glasses broke and I was looking for some new titanium frames. (They have the best selection of titanium frames I've seen.) Angela suggested I go down the street to Michael & Co Jewelers and have the earpiece soldered back on. He did a perfect job for $45. My frames were expensive titanium frames so it was worth it. I didn't have to buy a new pair of glasses because of Angela's advice. I found a great titanium frame which I may get as a second. Angela said come back after you have your glasses fixed and I will adjust them. She did a perfect job and replaced a replacement screw that never fit right. Now my glass are tight and perfectly comfortable. They make nice prescription sunglasses as well. If you are looking for top quality frames with incredible service go to Sonoma Eyeworks. They have titanium frames with no screws, so you never have to worry about tightening them. read more

An update to the response by Cindy, the "Manager" at Sonoma Eyeworks: It doesn't surprise me that you lied about what happened to me. You have admitted to not taking proper notes and that is clear when you try to tell your story of what happened. Once again, you are rude and condescending all the while believing that you are not transparent in your awkward attempt to appear blameless and victimized by your customers. First of all I had an RX update and purchased a new style of glasses from a woman I had been dealing with at the store for about three years. I liked her very much as I did the entire staff, I wore the new glasses for almost a month with difficulty and finally went to the Ophthalmologist (with a $ cost to do this) being very concerned that there was something wrong with my eyes. It was there that I learned my new glasses had been filled with an old RX instead of the new one. I went back to the store and you proceeded to tell me that IF a mistake was made it was because the woman who had helped me was a "short-timer" and a few other disparaging comments about how she was selling bicycles now and hadn't been doing a good job before she left. I was disappointed in the unprofessionalism since I liked the woman and as a manager myself would have been fired if I had said such things to customers about employees. You have never apologized but instead have accused me of getting away with something while it is I who have been treated poorly and I paid good money for it. By the way, there is nothing "unusual or unique" about my prescription and never has been. That was another lie you used to cover your incompetence. End of story. Peter helped me pick out a pair of specs. I get compliments on them like crazy. I am an ER nurse my patient is screaming in pain but will stop screaming to compliment me on my glasses. Thank you Peter. I go in on Monday to get a pair of sunglasses for a trip leaving Friday morning. The glasses need to be done by Thursday and they are! This place is the bomb. I come from a large city - like 6th largest in the US and this is one of the most advanced eye places I have ever been to. Great customer service, outstanding staff, exceptional care overall. If I ever leave this area I will fly here just to get my specs and eyes checked from Sonoma Eye Works. They have a good selection of trendy modern specs at various price points. Nice looking place with gorgeous (but ridiculously overpriced) frames. Went there for years and bought quite a few pairs of eyeglasses, however several times the frames broke, or lenses would fall out, or other annoying issues would come up and they were not always willing to fix the issues. My last pair of glasses, which cost a fortune, never worked quite right because the measurements were all wrong and I could never focus properly. I took them to Kaiser who said the measurements were not right, so had another pair redone at Kaiser that works perfectly. read more

Just got my first pair of glasses here, so I'm not entirely sure how the selection was compared to other stores. It definately had everything I could want as a 20 year old, but that's not why I'm writing a review. Every single staff memeber was so friendly each time I went in, and the actual medical service provided was exceptional. Dr. Ricks (OD) was incredibly knowledgable and able to actually teach me a little about what he was looking for in certain exams, which really shows intelligence. Joe (A.B.O.) was incredibly helpful with selecting frames, especially considering I went in with such a vague description of what I was looking for and he narrowed it down to something I love.
