I recently I went in to have an eye exam and purchase glasses. Staff was very helpful with picking out frames and I was told I would get glasses in 2 to 2 and 1/2 Weeks. No problem. After 3 and 1/2 weeks I received a phone call to say the lab said they might be here middle of the week, making it 4 weeks. When I asked why I was told 'I don't know'. It seems Lyon's optometry could be more attentive following up on their glass orders with the laboratory. A 4 week wait is excessive, and I would expect them to follow up on late orders. I understand they are planning to roll out a concierge type service soon. read more

I spend a fair amount of money on optical products. Every year. In particular I buy the best lenses that I can find, generally with every available option. At the recommendation of my very excellent Kaiser optician, I went to Lyons for the first time for lenses. I had a $350 pair of Silhouette frames that I had used for less than a year and I wanted to reuse the frames. That didn't go over very well. The person who was helping me let me know that she didn't think very much of that approach. I spent more than $900 on the lenses. When I went in to pick them up The person across the counter pretty much shoved the box containing the glasses at me and said, "there you go thanks bye." Again they made it clear that since I didn't buy frames I shouldn't expect any attention, or any service. Last comment: it seems that a theme at Lyons is showing lots of cleavage. I'm a guy who likes looking at women, but I expect my optical shop to be a professional place of business. This is a transaction that I take very seriously. The presentation of the staff is cheap. Reflecting back on this experience, I don't think I'll return to Lyons. read more

Thought I'd give them a try based on how friendly they were over the phone. I am so glad I did! I got two pairs of glasses, one for my computer work, and one for everything else. They are fantastic! The team at Lyons was fantastic! Truly fun to be around and very helpful. They picked out frames for me as I truly wanted to try something different than what I had been wearing. Love supporting a female founded/owned/staffed business! Was recommended to Lyons Optometry by a friend, and I also saw that they were voted the Best of Sonoma County for Optometry. Making an appointment was quick and easy, and the front desk staff was very helpful. When I arrived, I was promptly checked in (note: masks required!) and got to explore around the room a bit before I was seen. Dr. Lyons was friendly, helpful, and provided me with a lot of information on options that best suited my needs and comfort. I debated getting a contact exam/consultation, but after speaking through all the facts and associated risks/discomfort with the Dr., I decided to hold on that for now. I appreciated her honest advice based on the information I'd provided, rather than just try to get me to buy. My favorite part of the visit was being helped by Ana, who was so kind, helpful, and has a knack for understanding what the client is looking for to find frame options that best fit them! I'm a bit on the picky side, and more or less already know what I like and want, but Ana was able to effectively grab options both within and outside of my comfort zone, and provided me with lots of guidance based on my concerns. We went through many rounds of picking out frames before finally narrowing down and looking into all the associated costs and logistics of it all. She was so nice the whole time, never rushed me, and took in everything I had to say to try to find a solution for it. In the end, we picked out a great option, and she was also so helpful with picking add-on protective layers as well! I LOVE THEM -- THANK YOU ANA! After 2 weeks when my frames were ready for pick up, I made an appointment to come back and was helped by Andrea (I believe that was her name). She was also so so sweet and really worked to help me be as comfortable with my new frames as possible! I had issues with the frame slipping off constantly due to my low nose bridge, but she managed to help solve that without tightening the frames too much to where it'd cause a headache. I also felt that it was somehow lopsided a bit, so she kept trying to help me even it out to where I felt it was straight. I felt bad she kept having to go to the back room to fix the frames and kept saying it's probably fine and not a big deal, but she wouldn't let me leave until I was completely satisfied! We looked into all possible factors that might've caused this uneven feeling (i.e. my hair, how the glasses sat on my ears, etc) and ultimately realized that it was actually caused by me pushing down one side more than the other when putting them on (oops!). Regardless, she was happy to help and never rushed me or made me feel like I was being annoying. Love the team here and looking forward to seeing everyone next year! read more

Obtained eye exam and purchased two sets of glasses, one for multi-purpose use and one for computer use. Quality of workmanship was fine, but the eye exam took about five minutes (maybe less) and the glasses intended used for computer work are pretty much useless. Also, they don't provide you with a prescription, which forces customers to only purchase replacements from them. I knew their prescription policy in advance but was not impressed by the lack of care/precision for the eye exam and the fact that half of the $2K total cost has now turned out to be a waste. Will be seeking a different optometrist next time one is needed. read more

I called the office to inquire if I could purchase a box of lenses and was informed contact lenses were not kept on hand, so they would need to be ordered. After explaining my dilemma, I was offered a sample pack of lenses at no charge, which held me over during my stay. But I'd give the rest of the business a 1/5 for quoting me insane prices for adding lenses to frames I had purchased from her a year ago. Replacement lenses were quoted at $800-1000. Dr. Lyons' OD shop is conveniently tucked away in a large brick fortress of a building off Lakewood Drive and the big shopping center in a huge parking lot that had hundreds of places for me to park my truck. Dr. Lyon's office is just through the door to the left. Things always seem to be humming there. When I called to make the appointment and when I showed up there was laughter and animated conversation going on of happy people. What I saw was individuals being fitted for glasses and enjoying the experience. Dr. Lyons has a nice selection of frames - some with sensible prices and some designer frames that not all of us can afford... but they sure are fashionable! I had the gang of check ups that are necessary to check the eyes. I was impressed that none of them were uncomfortable. Dr. Lyons was personable and unrushed as we went through the tests. I liked that I was greeted and walked back to the exam room by the doctor rather than be shuttled around by available staff. The staff are motivated, sharp and appear to be effective at their work. My eyes haven't' changed enough to warrant a change of lens. read more
