I hired Soot Busters to install a wood stove in our basement. It turned out to be a much more complicated job than initially thought. Ferdinand, the owner, had to remove the old terra cotta lining, about 40 feet. Ferdinand was always in a good mood, and a pleasure to have in our home. Even though the job was harder than expected and took some extra time Ferdinand never changed his price, and probably lost money doing the job. Very poor customer service. Never showed up for a scheduled service last fall. Tried to schedule this week and had an appointment scheduled for Friday at 3:15. At 3:30 he was not here and we tried calling and texting multiple times. At 4:30 he finally messaged me on Google Maps and said that he had rescheduled the service for today. I had never received any notification of the appt being rescheduled, but we went on ahead and scheduled for Saturday at 3:15. At 1:15 he texted me and said it was too windy. He said if if the winds didn't die down he was going to have to reschedule. Never contacted me back to let me know. By 2:30 there was virtually no wind. When 3:30 came and he didn't show up we called him and he said he had already let me know he couldn't come because of the wind (which was nonexistent at this point). He never once apologized or tried to make things right. He seems to be very flaky and so far we have been unsuccessful in even getting him to show up for one single appointment. I'm not sure how someone with such poor reliability and customer service can run a business. But I do know that we will not ever attempt to use this company's services in the future. Nor will we recommend them. This whole experience has been extremely frustrating. read more
