I got sns with tips and she didn't even try on the shape I asked for and many of the tips were glued on crooked. when I mentioned how crooked they were she just filed them more. And probably the worst part is the glue she used for the tips BURNED my skin. It hurt so bad and when I yanked away because it shocked me from the pain she was annoyed. My nails literally never break or chip, she always shapes them how I request, and she is more than pleasant to talk to. Not to mention I'm always taken right on time as per my appointment. Ella takes care of my grandmother's mani/pedi and she pays exceptional attention to helping her (she doesn't get around so well) and pampering her. There are many nail salons in the area and I've been on a mission lately to fund the best one overall. This place is pretty good, not horrible but nothing that makes me want to come back for more. The best part about this place besides free parking is that a.) Jenny is funny and very friendly...like she was genuine about the trade when I asked questions. And b.) they clean, like probably the cleanest in the area. However, service as far as the technical application is alright. I get mani/pedi and pretty much the whole shebang every two weeks so I want a place thats worth every penny! The pedicure was lackluster and for 40.00 didn't feel as thorough as ones I had at other places. My manicure was okay...I still a couple spots that weren't colored. Also I don't like the fact that you have to make an appointment for a massages :/ Overall? While my husband was doing business in Rockaway I went looking for a nail salon to get a quick mani/pedi...happened upon Sophia's. It was Saturday around 4 and there were a few ladies getting serviced when I arrived. Jenny took care of me starting with my pedicure. Jenny is THE BEST!!! Not only does she give a very nice pedicure but her personality is awesome!!! I live all the way in Suffolk but would come here again to see Jenny!!! Prices are a little higher then what I expected, but a sign was posted that because of wage increases prices increased. I paid $33 for a master pedicure and regular mani, not too bad. I went to Sophia wang yesterday and my experience was one of the worst. I treated myself and my thirteen year old who begged me to go there because I took her there in the past and she loved it to a pedicure and a manicure. We both chose lemon spas for our pedicures. The pedicure was rushed and it was nothing lemon about it. A customer next to us got a regular pedicure and we finished at the same time. I've been to this nail salon before in the past and it use to have great service but recently I've noticed the employees are not the same only the man in charge that sits in the front by the register, he was not present for this experience. As me and my daughter were getting our pedicures, every customer that would come in the workers would be like oh boy roll their eyes etc. After our pedicures we went to the front to proceed with our manicures. As the manicurist was was cutting my cuticles I had to stop her many times because she was hurting me, she was very nice about it apologizing. I don't get polish so I was done first. The bill came up to $86.00, 43 for me and 43 for my daughter. With the service we received I rounded up the price to $90.00 to give a $2 tip to each of the workers which they did not deserve. I paid with my debit card so I signed the receipt explained to the worker to give the manicurist the other $2. The worker that was performing a manicure on my daughter (ELLEN-the heavy set one) stops and comes over to me and says is this $4 for both of us? I said yes $2 for you and $2 her. She goes on to say for a "spa pedicure"? I replied excuse me are you saying this is not enough. She then storms away with the clip board in hand and tosses it across the front desk. After that she continued to finish my daughters nails very roughly with an attitude and starts talking in her language to the other workers. Every time I go to this salon I always get a light shoulder massage after the service is completed. Me and my daughter never received one. As my daughter is drying her nails the worker (Ellen)was storming around like a bully speaking in her language, I couldn't understand what she was saying but body language is everything. Some of the other workers surrounded her it seemed like they were calming her down, at that point she started talking loud and they all started laughing making me and my daughter feel very uncomfortable. I knew she was talking about me because because one worker kept looking at me like she was embarrassed of their behavior. My daughter was very upset and said mom I don't want to come here anymore. When we were ready to leave no one said thank you or good night. (ELLEN) Tips are OPTIONAL ! I won't be going back to Sophia wang. If the manager that sits in the front is reading this she is bad for business I remember the last time I went there for a pedicure and I told her I wanted one of the specials she told me don't waste your money they are all the same crap.
