I went to get a Brazilian wax here and I would not recommend getting this done here to anyone. I've been getting these once a month for the last 20 or so years and never in my life have I endured so much pain, to the point that I got lightheaded. She didn't even do a complete Brazilian because she didn't wax my behind but it was so painful that I didn't even mention it. Kelly is exceptional! She actually LISTENED to what I wanted for my mani/pedi. She did precisely what I asked. She uses the perfect pressure for both; not too hard & not too soft. I tried to manage my own belongings like several bags plus my shoes, socks, & rolling up my pants to my knees. She refused to let me do any of it! So impressive. Then I explained a long-term concern regarding my nails; Kelly offered me a secret tip. Just amazing. Friends Nail Salon really does live up to its name. All the staff are extremely friendly and nice. They're constantly in a good mood and smiling or concentrating on their work. My nails are done amazingly and impeccably every time at this Salon. Not only do manicures last perfectly for a long time, but they are also extremely efficient. I've never had anything bad about this nail salon since 2016 but after today I would say be prepared for the personalities of the workers. They finally hired someone of a different race and they are not nice to her. She is very nice and patient, does very good work. But they laughed while she struggled to do a French pedicure. Instead of helping her they looked over her shoulder and laughed the whole time I tried to help her through French. Nobody offered to help her, offered me to switch to a different nail tech or anything. When I finally decided to just forget the whole nail design they laughed again. I love this place. It's my go to nail salon. They always take their time and do such a nice job on my feet. My pedicure lasts for over a month. They give you a choice of a manicure or wax, free when you do a spa pedi, such a nice treat. James is the best! This is by far my favorite nail salon on the Rockaway peninsula. I come here weekly/biweekly and every single employee gives the same, excellent service. You will not be disappointed after a visit at this salon! They offer amazing deals for spa pedicures- $25 for a lavender pedicure and manicure.. you can't beat that price, especially with the attention to detail they give you. Forever my favorite nail salon in Rockaway. So many Spa pedicure options and customer service that is unbeatable. If your meter is going to expire they will go find your car and put more quarters in for you and make sure you don't get a ticket while getting your nails done. I've never felt the need to review a Nail place because they always do a great job anywhere I go, but THIS PLACE. Worse place ever, they took 30 minutes to do acrylics, which takes waaaayyy longer. Super rushed, messy application of gel, and they're all uneven and just ugly. You might as well throw 40 in the garbage. They left the acrylic so thick it looks like a chiclet (gum) on my fingers and didn't let the gel dry all the way, which now they look dirty. read more

I have been to almost every nail salon within in a close radius of where I live .. I'm a perfectionist , so I tend to be a little difficult , and will speak up for myself if I'm not satisfied with the appearance of my nails .. with that being said I have made some enemies amongst the nail salon technicians , and I know that some of them do not like to work on me .. Last year I wandered into Friends after I had already had disappointing experiences with the two salons next store .. At first I was trying to be good and not make enemies as I have at the others , though I was getting anxiety , I was trying to express myself calmly to the technician how I wanted my nails shaped , and she wasn't understanding me .. though than JAMES swooped in took over with my pedicure, listened to what I was saying , shaped them perfectly and has been the only one in rockaway I will go to for pedicures , if he is not in when I go in for one o wait till the next day he is working ...
