I asked for ombré nails for my wedding and this is what they gave me LoL would of liked it if they were honest and just admit they didn't know how to do it. Instead they were going to let me walk out with this as my wedding nails! Two stars only because I made them start all over and did a French manicure but still now I have bloody jacked up fingers on my wedding day because they cut me a few times. Management is rude and each time I had the French wax they burnt my face when waxing my eyebrows. I paid extra for French wax because it's supposed to not be as harsh as regular waxing.This happened twice. The first time I figured my skin was just sensitive but when it happened again I told the owner and she said ok and that was it. She still took my money and asked for a tip!! Can you believe that?!!! They are not the only ones who do good BIO GEL- there's a place near where I volunteer and I will TAKE MY $65.00 plus tip there every two weeks! JUST go to the BIOGEL website and find other places- Too bad for them, they may offer good massages and do good bio gel BUT THEY DON'T honor Good business relationships. Can You believe this!! Let's start off by saying that it's really difficult to find parking over the weekend. The place is really nice and elegant. I usually pick a nail salon based on their cleanliness and indeed was it clean. But the way they do pedicures is weird. They paint your nail first ? Then conduct your pedicure ? Since when ? I personally wasn't too happy about that because I feel like it doesn't allow them to thoroughly clean your nail, cut the soft cuticles, and scrub your feet the way it should be properly scrubbed. It wasn't a terrible job but I wasn't satisfied. Your basically paying 50 bucks for the gel nail polish not an actual pedicure. I give it 4 stars because I spoke to the owner and she was very nice and understanding of the situation. I discovered this place a few years ago in Rockaway and I love all of their services! Very friendly, super clean and they offer top quality services. I especially love that all the men are just as good and giving mani/pedi's and you can get a massage with any service. THIEVES. That is what the folks who run this salon are. THIEVES!!! I went in for a pedicure yesterday afternoon. From their selection of pedicures I chose the "Sea Salt Pedicure"', $41; not only did I POINT (with my pointer finger) to the pedicure I wanted, I also said, verbally and very clearly, sea salt pedicure. The nail technician, Jerry, upsold the callous remover (additional $8) and Quick Dry (additional $1) options to me. I left Jerry a more than decent tip. I realized later in the evening, that the math did not add up and that I was overcharged $10. I was charged $60 when I should have been charged $50. I called the salon 15 minutes ago and explained the situation. After using every excuse in the book, the woman to whom I spoke said to me, "Well, you chose the Green Tea pedicure." NO, I DID NOT. However, let's say that I did, for the sake of argument, choose the bloody Green Tea freaking pedicure (which I did NOT choose!)--the PRICE DOES NOT ADD UP. The Green Tea pedicure costs a whopping $58. ($41 was already expensive enough, that's why I chose the Sea Salt pedicure to begin with, at a SUBSTANTIAL $17 less! Had I chosen the Green Tea pedicure, which I DID NOT, the total bill should have come to $67, not $60.) I share this genius mathematical logic with the woman on the phone: Well! She then goes on to accuse me of KNOWING that I chose the Green Tea pedicure and not saying anything when my bill was "only $60!" OH REALLY!? Then why in God's holy name would I call to point out that you overcharged me by TEN MEASLY DOLLARS. Also, YOUR EMPLOYEE should know the prices, no? Or at least guide themselves by YOUR MENU of services, just like I did!!! Trust me when I say this is not about the actual TEN MEASLY DOLLARS it's about the PRINCIPLE at hand (no pun intended.) I spent A LOT of money at this salon when I had BioGel on my nails nearly two years ago, and I have since gone in to get manicures and pedicures, bringing several friends with me in the past. I have such mixed feelings about this place. Hands down the cleanest nail salon in Rockaway and I do value that, it just takes a lot out of me each time I go. There's just always an issue. Jessie, the owner, is an absolute monster. She is insanely rude, aggressive, a tip fiend, and has no issue humiliating you in front of everyone if the tip doesn't satisfy. Isn't a tip supposed to be optional, if you're happy with the quality of the work? I am not cheap. I always schedule an appointment and I am always on time. I think I'm a pretty easygoing customer! Yesterday I arrive and am greeted with "what do you want?" Hi I have an appointment. "Choose color". My technician was rough with my hands - actually made my nail bed bleed and proceeded to hold the nail down with this paste that totally stung (the complementary massage man skipped me which was a total bummer but I won't go into that). At the end I said thank you. Was ignored so I tried again a little louder and ignored again! Rude...Usually as a courtesy the technician takes your stuff to the dryer to prevent smudging. Well my guy didn't and of course I struggled picking up my keys. I asked him to please fix it (It made me feel sad spending $10 on a manicure and leaving with a mess.) He tried to paint over and it looked clumpy and really thick so I said please can we re do the nail. He did not like that. Pulled my arm roughly and stomped away. When I got up to leave nobody said goodbye or thank you. I was too afraid to ask for my tip back. Moral of the story? Only go when you're in a great mood, and on pay day because it's definitely the most expensive. Bring cash. Or go to Selina's across the street for a MUCH better experience. I like this place. It's fancy. Relaxing. Unlike most standard nail salons the inside is angelic and modern looking. Parking is a mess. Just a heads up. It can get busy here mind you, and there isn't loads of seating either so if you are the impatient type I suggest an appointment. I'm not much of a nail design person but every now and then when I want to feel fabulous I ask for one. It was my first time every coming here and I was a bit apprehensive because I don't know the process it takes to get a hand painted design or if anyone knew how to do it. I struck gold. Literally ( Ill post the pics soon). The technician was quite, in fact most of them are which is okay with me. I'm not really a talker at nail salons, I just like to sit and relax, occasionally smile and say thank you. I showed the young lady doing my nails a pic I lamely found on good images and she executed to a tee. If she was struggling I couldn't tell but it was done rather quickly considering it was all hand painted. One thing I really like about this place is the way they shape your eyebrows and the fact they use hard wax ( it looks like taffy and its tough not clear and super sticky) which is less painful than regular wax. It think they called it European...or was it French wax. Anyway, even if it was more expensive the result was just as good and less painful. ;) Overall? I'll go back again when I want a design. I haven't gotten a pedicure yet and hopefully I will in the near future. The only thing I don't like is that if you use a credit card they add taxes...so it ends up being more than using cash? Honestly, I am an almost devout mani/pedi client at Lily's Nail Inc (located on 114/115hth). but sometimes I like switching it up and seeing what other businesses have to offer. read more

Came here with regular gel polish.. They soaked it off and told me they have gel polish... When i payed the bill it cost me $65.00... I questioned this considering i normally pay 24.00 for a gel manicure.. They then told me it was Biogel??? I was very disappointed with them... They should have told me prior to applying it that it was different then what they soaked off.. Anyhow i just removed the biogel at my regular nail salon and my nails are paper thin and painful!!!! This is a great new nail salon. Now I haven't been to any of the many other nail salons in Rockaway, so I have nothing local to compare this salon to, but compared to others I have been to in NYC, this is a great, clean salon. The people are very nice and the prices are on par with other nice salons ($24 for mani/pedi). They give the typical hand/arm and foot/calf massage as well as a quick shoulder rub. They also do this hand wax thing with the manicure, which I've only had done in physical therapy! It was a very nice touch! I will go back. read more

Everybody loves Blue Beach nails. Jessie, the owner is fantastic! The staff is SUPER helpful and polite ALWAYS!!! I travel from Williamsburg for the bio gel manicure. I went in there on a lark one day at the beach to get a new acrylic nail redo, and they explained the bio gel and i'm sold. It's so much more healthy for my nails and not toxic like the acrylic-which I was worried about, but didn't know there was an alternative. We went in with a group of four wanting pedicures and we made an appointment hours before. All of us had to wait for 10 minutes and the rest couldn't be seen until the other two were already done. I have mixed feelings. I've been coming here for half a year now, every 2-3 weeks. Initially I loved the place. It's absolutely beautiful and comfortable. However, the past few tines i went, something happens. First time, I was there (getting my fingers done, not even toes or any other service) for 3 1/2 hours because it was the day before a holiday and the manager was doing my nails. I understand that she has to answer the phone and whatnot, but if you cannot do my nails then give me to anyone else. After almost 4 hours, she charged me full price. I should've been given a discount for how inconvenient that was. As if i didnt have something to do? Second time, the girl with the shortest hair buffered almost all of my cuticles so hard to the point I was bleeding out of every finger, even though I made it clear that I was in a lot of pain. But that's not even the best part; she took out the wrong buffer the first time - she wasn't paying attention and grabbed the one with a screw on the bottom of it and scratched my finger. OW!!! Oh, and course, I was charged full price. Third time, I wanted just a simple solid color, no design. I have long nails (which shouldn't be a problem) and i get acrylic. Im assuming they don't like me now because, everything she tries to convince me, I refuse to use their expensive bio gel. I had that for a year and hated it, but they don't care they just want my money. After she finished and it went to pay, the owner "suggested" I give her a larger tip, as if 10 isn't enough, because my nails are "difficult." I've never been told by anyone that they're difficult. Nor should my nails be difficult for a trained professional. Anyway, I still go because it's convenient but if they don't stop messing up with me, I'll find somewhere else. That waxing experience sounds awful. I haven't had a wax there but I've gotten a mani-pedi and had a great experience. The staff is polite, clean and professional. One small complaint. My manicure started to chip only two days after I got it. I've had manicures at high end spas were the manicure lasted at least a week, some times two. Would be nice if they found a top coat that really seals the manicure in for a decent amount of time. But at $8 per manicure, I'll go back. It was my first time there, my nails was done by a female named "kiki". I told the owner" I liked your nails and design, and would like the same thing". The owner was happy and said okay great we'll do it. Soo kiki the girl done it and didn't had the color's that was needed for the design. The white gel color-the bottle was empty. Soo there was little holed. That wasn't only the problem, I had went with my friend and my friend had done her nails too. Soo my friend ask for change of a10 dollar bill. So she can tip the lady. Kiki rolled her eyes like she was mad. Kiki was pulling my hands so rough doing my nails. She was using the electric nail filer and has hurt me I guess she didn't know how to use it because if they stay in the same spot it burns. Soo she didn't even do the design the right way, my nail did not come out right as at all. On top of that she had an attitude the whole time. Charged me $65 for gel and feet. Beside a good tip.
