After reading everyones review about this massage, I though I'd give it a go. I'm pretty sure I left more tense than when I arrived. "LiLi" asked if I wanted a four had massage... which is two women massaging me at the same time. Uhhhhh... at first I though, sure, I could have my feet done while getting shoulders massaged. She asked this while I was getting a massage, then she said it would be 90 dollars instead of 45. I politely declined. After the massage I felt bummed because my feet weren't massaged neither was my chest or front arms. I asked her if I could get 30 minutes more to take care of those places because I'd been feeling tense (and sick). Lili didn't have a problem with this, but needed my credit card first to pay for the 30 minute massage. No problem for me. I paid and she asked me to tip on the first receipt for both massage. I figured 20 percent of 65 would be 14 dollars. "No, not 14 dollars... that's to little." I felt pretty weird when she told me my tip was to small... and asked what she meant. "25 dollars is a tip." Uhhhh, I wasn't feeling good all day, tense, and now lili is bustin my balls about my tip. I ended up giving her $25 dollars because I was super uncomfortable. It was one of those times where you think to yourself "take what you want just leave me the fuck alone." I'm a teacher and don't have that much money... so I feel frustrated as I write this that I gave in and tipped her. Background... I've been to 3 other reflexology place, this is my 4th. My neck has been bugging me, I have a headache, and my feet were sore from walking around too much during vacation and spending a day at the art museum... I'd say Eastern Dragon is slightly better than the others. They charge $30/hr, which is $5 higher than some other places I've been, but it's not unheard of. I called on Labor Day Monday and she said if I come within the next 15-30 min, I should be ok to get a girl for the one hour. I ran late, and when I got there, the girl's no longer available since she's booked for another customer shortly later. I asked if I get a guy, would it be doable, and they squeezed me in with a guy no problem. Very friendly and accommodating (instead of just blaming me for being late). BTW, I understand Chinese, but I didn't speak to them in it when I first walked in so they didn't know I understood. I would've known if they were just faking their friendliness, but they weren't bitching me out in Chinese and turning around and being accommodating in English (and trust me, that happens), they were genuinely nice people. How this place (Kevin) is better than the other places? 1. Like mentioned in other posts, their rooms are smaller. I was brought into a room with two chairs and two tables. I was thinking it could get pretty crowded if there are 4 customers in the room but later I understood why. Because I was the only one in the room, it was pretty relaxing. You do hear a bit of noise in the reception area, but it was just usual customer coming in and going, not like someone was chatting non stop outside. My guy Kevin was also considerate and quiet. I liked that. 2. A good sign was Kevin started by asking me how I liked the strength of the massage. I like it harder (ha-ha). 3. One of my biggest pet peeve, masseuse who is a smoker. Thank god Kevin doesn't smell like an ashtray, unlike masseuses in some other places. Nothing skeeves me out more than a pair of hands smelling like an ashtray touching my face and hair. 4. He wasn't constantly lathering on lotion and massage oil. Some places use too much and it becomes way too slippery. 5. He actually uses his fingers and palms a lot, instead of just his elbows. Some masseuses uses their elbows a lot, hence not being able to gauge the right amount of strength. It's especially painful when they try to smooth out your back. Kevin did it with his palm, so instead of painful elbow/forearm bone on your backbone, it's nice lower palm on your back. 6. He stops and actually applies pressure on pressure points, instead of rushing through places. How is this place different (personal preference): 1. They don't spend much time on your face. You start with your head and a little on your forehead, but not much on your face or ears, which I'm ok with. When I was getting my head massaged, I imaged that's how my dogs must feel like when I scratch behind their ears. My headache instantly disappeared after the head massage. 2. They spend a lot of time on your feet. I liked that a lot, it's a foot reflexology place after all, I want them to pay attention to my feet. 3. After my head, shoulder, arms and feet were done in the chair. I was asked to move onto the table, face down. Ah ha! That's why there are two tables there. I liked it that it's a table, since a lot of times, if you're in a chair, it bounces and gives when they're working on your back, and the full effect isn't there. 4. He worked my shoulder blades really thoroughly. It was good, painful but good, he kept asking throughout the massage if it's ok, and I said yes because I did like it a little painful. However next time, I might ask for more time to be spent in my lower back, which is my problem area instead of my shoulder blades, which isn't that terrible. 5. When I was laying on my stomach, he did this thing with his thumbs going up my neck to the bottom of my skull. I felt like he's detaching my head and putting it back on right, in a good way. Through the years, I've been to a couple of other Chinese massage places, it's either that the front desk/masseuses aren't too nice, or they're too loud/chatty (not relaxing), or their work is just sloppy in general. I've been to Eastern Dragon twice so far... twice in two weeks, that is! Last weekend I got a one hour reflexology massage that was incredible. The practitioner is a gentleman named Ben who recently moved here with his family from the Schezuan province of China. I can't review the other two practitioners here, as I haven't had them yet, but Ben is just fantastic. FOOT REFLEXOLOGY 101: I discovered foot reflexology massage a few years ago thanks to my sister-in-law. It's basically the best thing ever, in a nutshell. An hour of sitting in a cushy chair with your feet soaking in hot water whilst getting a fantastic massage on your head, limbs and eventually feet. Think "all the great parts of a proper pedicure, plus way more massage and no pretense of popping on some nail polish and having to waste 20 minutes waiting for it to dry." Don't get me wrong, I like a decent pedicure now and then, but 99.999% of the time, I'm really just going to get my feet rubbed. Now, triple that experience on foot soaking and rubbing, subtract the poking and primping and add a fantastic chair massage --- that's your basic "foot reflexology" massage. Alternatively, you could think of a reflexology massage as an INCREDIBLE massage without the snootiness of a fancy spa. I'm terrible at getting my "spa" on -- I'm just not the sort of person who can settle down at a place that's designed to mellow me out. It's like I get more stressed thinking I'm supposed to be more relaxed. If you send me to a place where I'm supposed to walk around naked under a robe passing other patrons in a hallway while awaiting my massage... I'm likely to almost bust out in hives with all the pressure to be luxuriously sanguine. So, a reflexology massage is totally up my alley. Drool-worthy relaxation, leaving feeling lighter and like I've had a total hour vacation, with no tension that I should have "chilled" more. SPECIFICS ON EASTERN DRAGON MASSAGE: Like other reflexology massage places, the foot reflexology happens in a shared room. Eastern Dragon is a small operation with only three practitioners, so the reflexology room only has two chairs and a single table. With reflexology, you keep your normal clothes on, except for removing coats and shoes / socks etc. Larger reflexology places will have as many as ten chairs in a room which is usually dimly lit with music in the background. In these larger places, you need to be comfortable with hearing a lot of chit-chat in a language you probably don't know. Just like at a pedicure joint, the practitioners at the larger places tend to talk with one another while they work, sometimes in a whisper, but usually in a tone that works against the dimmed lighting and hushed music. It doesn't help if you have a wandering mind that creates a complete alternative dialogue of the foreign tongue chatter. At Eastern Dragon Massage, the set up is so small, there simply aren't enough people for loud, ongoing discussions. Thus, the environment is incredibly relaxing. I have literally almost fallen asleep both times I've been there, the environment is so embracing and the massage work SO AMAZING. In addition to the shared reflexology room, there are two side rooms with regular massage tables for hot wax and deep pressure massage. I think one of the side rooms can be booked for two, if you wanted to do a couple's massage. I'm not 100% on this, so call ahead to be sure. HIDDEN LOCATION Eastern Dragon Massage is tucked back behind an auto mechanic shop in the same building as a Goodyear Tire place. Oddly enough, and thankfully enough, none of the tire shop's fumes or noise seeps into the massage business. Nevertheless, be ready to do a little hunting to discover the exact location. If you are headed west on Arapahoe from 25, Eastern Dragon is tucked behind the Wells Fargo that you'll see on your right. When you see the sign for "Mongolian BBQ" and "Wells Fargo," turn off Arapahoe into the shopping area. After you pass the Wells Fargo parking lot, make a right to pull behind the bank. There's a building on the left iwth the Goodyear Tire and a mechanic on the right. Eastern Dragon is the last business in the building on the left. FINAL NOTE OF AWESOME: Oh, and did I mention it's only $25?????????? For a whole HOUR OF CALGON-TAKE-ME-AWAY ESCAPISM?? It feels criminal to feel so great for such little money, especially when a similar quality massage at a spa would easily run $80, so I always give an additional $10 tip. If you are new to the idea of reflexology, this is a great place to start - quiet, completely relaxing, in the hands of a true master. I'd give 6 stars if possible! The absolute best reflexology massage I've ever had. Called for an appointment and was seen right away. Very quite & relaxing experience. Unlike other places I've been, they had me transfer to a massage table after my foot massage so that she could massage my back...wow! I really can't express the greatness of this massage. I like deep pressure and the pressure applied was spot on. I have absolutely no complaints. The only other difference from other places was that she had me remove my blouse and bra and unzip/unsnap my jeans and pull down just enough do she could work my gluts. Didn't bother me a bit as I'm not too shy but you may wanna keep that in mind if you are the extreme shy type. Nothing negative about my experience except I wished I'd booked the full body massage...will next though as I will now become a regular client here. Combo massage was 1/2 he feet & 1/2 hr back, which is what I got...$40. Can't beat the price. read more

I workout a lot! This week has been especially intense and I needed some relief. I called around and could not get in anywhere. I walked in and was able to get a massage in 30 mins so I waited. Definitely worth the wait. I don't have injuries or any areas that need to be avoided. The areas they focus on most is what I needed. Some people really like foot massage but it kills me so I ask them not to do my feet. I need shoulders and gluts and she was accommodating. They don't ask what you want but if you just tell them they will do what you want. She did use a hot stones and a hot towel to wipe off the oil which was really nice also. I didn't feel oily at all. I lived in China for four years, and I've had a lot of Chinese foot and body massages, both there and in the States, so I know what is and isn't up to snuff. I've searched high and low for an authentic, high-quality Chinese massage place in Denver, and Eastern Dragon is by far the best. It is clean, the music is wonderful, it has relaxing ambiance, and the masseuses know what they are doing. They are very kind and amiable and speak an adequate amount of English. They concentrate on giving a great quality massage throughout the entire process. And, of course, the prices are very modest. I really like this place, and I hope it flourishes for many years. Some of the reviews are old, so I will try and update the information. This is now known as Sophia's Massage. Their rates are $45./hr. $65./90 min. For deep tissue massage or hot stone massage it is $55./hr $75./90 min. This is a lot less than American massages. Their hours are 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM 7 days/week. There are only female masseuses there. They are all excellent and extremely friendly. This is a legitimate massage only. They do a full body massage leaving no stone unturned. If you have special requests, be sure to communicate with your therapist. They do not short you on time. They are not clock watchers. I highly recommend the hot stone massage during the winter months. If you like really deep tissue work ask for Yoyo. She is amazing. I haven't had any massages from Coco, but I am sure that she is excellent also. These ladies work long hours and are very dedicated, so tip well. The Client who had a bad experience should have talked with the manager. I have been getting Oriental massages for three years and this is the BEST I have found. read more

I found this place through Yelp yesterday and couldn't be happier!! My wife and I got a hot oil massage and were able to get our massages together in the same room. The place is not very well marked outside but not hard to find. The women were extremely friendly and very good at their job. You get a thorough massage, no doubt about it! Like others have stated, throw your modesty out the window at this place! They keep you some what covered but they are more concerned about the massage then your nudity. My wife and I both have gotten many massages before and feel like this was the most thorough. Head to toe. You get a great massage at a really great price. read more

First of all, I wanted to put one star, but I always ignore those and think people are trying to be vindictive. I'm going to give a 100% honest account of the worst massage I've ever gotten. I feel as though this is an important review to read because years ago I received over 50 professional massages after a car accident. So many, in fact, that I began dating one of my masseuses for quite some time. :) So, I've gotten more like 100 massages- She was a sweetie. I'm no stranger to massages. I used to talk to her about them all the time- and she was professionally trained and accredited. I wanted to have this massage for some tennis elbow and a tight hamstring (because of a graft for my ACL reconstruction). My PT told me I could get a massage, so long as they were not manipulating the knee in any way. I called in on Thursday to make a 9:30 Saturday morning reservation and they just said, "Okay." and hung up. I figured maybe they use your number for reservations (They do). I showed up at 9:30 AM and they seemed confused as to why I was there. After going back and forth in Chinese for a minute or so, one led me into a claustrophobic dark room with the hue of a deep red light. The room was probably 6x10 feet. Felt kinda weird and definitely not relaxing. You will definitely not have the opportunity to say, "I want you to just massage this or that." She didn't even give me a chance to even say "Please don't destroy these particular parts of my body." It was more like "LIGHT TISSUE, OKAY LAY DOWN." They speak English EXTREMELY poorly. I'm saying you won't understand when they ask you what type and length of massage you want. Expect to ask them what they said at least two or three times for every single sentence. Your communication is going to be about equivalent to speaking to a cave man, so good luck asking for any custom treatment. I asked for the lighter massage and the woman was literally rolling through knots as if she were trying to push my muscles back underneath my bones. Repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly going over the same muscle under my shoulder blade with the exact same force. She wasn't starting soft and gradually increasing. At one point she crawled on top of my back and was digging her knees and elbows into my body. I was confused and second guessing what my ex-gf had told me years before: Basically, if they press too hard, you'll contract your muscles and the massage will not do you an ounce of good. This was the LIGHT massage. I've never requested a light one before, always deep tissue. I had my muscles tensed for apx. 45 mins of the 60 minute massage. Also, they will stop on the exact minute after 60. Someone said they got some bonus minutes, that was not the case for me- No one else was in line. Started at 9:24, finished at 10:24. So at one point, she of course flipped me on my back and started aggressively pushing my knee in and pulling my leg into these weird stretches. I then realized that was what my PT was warning about. When I told my PT about it she was alarmed and said (as I already knew from my masseuse gf) that they should always ask you if you have any problem areas or injuries before beginning the massage. I'm no wimp- I had always preferred deep tissue massages (elbows and whatnot) and at one point my gf got another masseuse to work on me because she didn't have the force necessary when leaning her entire 110 lb body into her elbow. I lift weights constantly and am in good shape. I figured whatever they did would just be a drop in the ole bucket as far as what I could take. Also, I stretch religiously and am no stranger to yoga. So, I didn't go in there sore- whatsoever. This woman did something to my shoulder that made it difficult to sleep for a week. So painful, and not the typical "I got worn out" feeling after a massage. More like, "What the hell did this woman do to my body?" - That's the question I asked myself over the next several days. Nothing benefited my arm or hamstring. Their prices are not reasonable, whatsoever. I don't know who said you're gonna pay like half as much- Mine was like $45 or $50 bucks for the light massage, without the tip, something I regretted giving but felt it necessary since someone claimed they bitched at him for not paying enough. I believe him. So, they will cover your back in oil and rub the warm stones on you for like 5 minutes. It wasn't worth it, I was so freaking greasy leaving there I had to throw those clothes in the wash and take a 15 minute shower to scrub that junk off. Someone said there was no hanky-panky - But after being instructed to take my shorts off and more than a few collisions with her hands, I have my doubts. I felt very uncomfortable, especially considering part of the reason for my massage was to get ready for a date that afternoon. I don't need that kind of preparation. As for my reservation: They called at 9PM to ask if I was coming in that night haha. read more

I have going to Eastern Dragon Massage for over five years and my wife and I love the service. While one reviewer commented that the 4 hands massage should have been the same as one massage therapist for one hour, there is no consideration to the fact that two women are massaging you for one hour. Basically you are getting a two hour massage in one hour. The therapists are professional and flexible to your specific requests. I give Sophia and her talented massage therapists 5 stars for amazing consistent service, incredibly great value (low prices) and balancing healing techniques with therapeutic massage. read more

This is a really cool Chinese Therapeutic masage place! My husband and I have found this place about a year ago and we visit them almost every other week.They truly work hard and they apply pressure points and it feels fantastic. We always make noises because of the pain, but it feels so good afterwards! We both have high stress jobs, tend to tense up our neck and shoulder muscles, but with their massage, the knots are gone and we feel so much better! read more

I am a disabled vet with major back issues. So far I have been to several massage clinics in the area, some good and some... a bit seedy (not what I was looking for). But so far I would say that Eastern Dragon is the best. As mentioned I have soft tissue damage and some of the muscles are a bit touchy and can get tweeked by someone who does not do it correctly. For over a year now I have had far fewer spasms than normal and really appreciate the skilled staff. The masseuses at this place have been there for a while and you do not see the turn-around you see with other places, so you do not have to worry about finally finding someone you like and going the next week and finding that they have moved on. Another thing I really appreciate is that the is well trained and certified. You do not see that very often at other shops in the area. I would recommend going here to my friends and I will continue to go myself. read more

My wife and I go every few weeks, and sometimes I'll go alone when I am particularly sore and stiff due to my job. The atmosphere is very pleasant relaxing and comfortable. The ladies that work there are very friendly and courteous and professional. Afterwards we always feel so relaxed and loose and the soreness is gone. The ladies are very experienced and really do a great job. We always look forward to going and afterwards we always go out to eat. The ladies take a serious interest in you and how to help you best. We have gone to other places around town, some of which were terrible, terrible service, terrible results. This place is by far the best. Kevin and Coco are the owners and do a great job using eastern techniques. My wife and I lived in the Far East for a quite a while and so we know first hand the techniques used by the true practitioners. It really is an art. I can not recommend highly enough ! read more
