I had a very disappointing experience picking up a delivery order here. The female employee (front desk with harsh lined makeup on) who handed me the order instructed me how to carry the bag. I followed those instructions exactly. As I was placing the bag into my vehicle, I noticed grease leaking from the bottom. It was already leaking before I even left the restaurant, and it got grease on my vehicle. I brought the order back inside and politely asked if it could be repackaged so the customer would receive their food in good condition. Instead of helping, the employee argued with me and blamed me for the leak, even though I had handled the bag exactly as instructed. Delivery drivers can't control packaging that is already leaking before we leave the restaurant. The restaurant should consider using better containers or packaging for greasy foods instead of blaming drivers for a problem that starts before the delivery even begins. To make matters worse, I later received a thumbs-down rating from the restaurant. Those ratings can affect a delivery driver's ability to receive orders and earn income. They should be used fairly and not to shift responsibility for inadequate packaging. I hope management addresses both the packaging issues and how delivery drivers are treated. We're trying to provide good service to the same customers. read more

Stopped by Sophie's Tacos while running errands with my daughter, Sophie -- we saw the name and had to come back. I'm so glad we did. We kept it simple and ordered regular tacos and pupusas, and everything was excellent. The meat was tender and full of flavor, the salsas were perfectly balanced, and everything tasted fresh, warm, and truly homemade -- which is hard to find these days. The pupusa was freshly made; the masa was perfect. I added the cabbage slaw, a little salsa, and a pinch of salt, and it was so good, Mashallah. We also had the horchata and guava agua fresca -- both refreshing and a perfect complement to the meal. I ordered extra food to take home for my kids, and everyone loved it. This is a family-run spot with a cozy, welcoming feel, and it's such a neighborhood gem. They definitely deserve more love and reviews. Why is it so hard to find good Mexican food in Seattle? Another place that affirms my complaint. I wanted some tacos so I came in. Sophie's is a super cute place that sits right on busy 35th. The Safeway is across the street. Parking is available in the back of the building and its not the best. It was quiet and not too crowded when I went in. I remember it being pretty dark in there. They should brighten the lights. Service was decent, but nothing special. I could tell that this is a family run business, which makes me sad to give a negative review, but the critiques are based on the food. It wasn't good. I ordered an al pastor taco and a pork tamale. The al pastor was dry and lightly seasoned. The best part was the grilled pineapple. The tamale was unrecognizable and mushy on the inside. It couldn't hold its shape and started to break apart. We finally tried this place after driving by it every day for years and definitely regret not going sooner! The food was remarkable and the owner was so sweet. We loved it so much, we ordered Togo food to take to some neighbors so they get hooked on Sophie's asap too. We got the revueltas pupusas, asada tacos and an agua fresca (I'm spacing on the flavor we ordered) - all were so flavorful. There were also plenty of small plate/side options of quesadilla, bean/cheese burrito, rice, beans and tater tots to help us put together some kids plates for our littles. We parked in the neighborhood a block east and walked up, but realized there was plenty of parking available right below their building. There was also more seating inside than I had expected, based on the storefront size. They seemed to have a healthy Togo business rocking while we were there and our food still came out very quickly. The pork tamale was one of the most flavorful ones I'd ever had, with chunks of meat and a delicious sauce that had some heat and was well seasoned.
