let's just say that this filled me up with so much food i didn't eat for the next 22 hours for the price (only 12 dollars) that's a ridiculous portion size where to even start these seemed to be soft tacos, but with a full melted cheese covering on both sides of the shell i would say that's my only slight disappointment - that these weren't really crispy at all - there was no real crunch when i would bite into one of them - rather it was just slightly harder than a soft taco the cheese did add a great flavoring to the outside though - making this more than a normal taco shell each taco was absolutely overflowing with stuffing - it got to the point where the plate became another full meal by itself from everything that fell out of the taco the two main components of each taco were the cheese and the chicken the cheese was so perfectly melted - may have been the best cheese in a taco i've ever had it created such a satisfying cheese pull every time you took a bite - and it was one consistency throughout, meaning every time you took a bite you had to pull the cheese away from the rest of the taco - which was just fantstic as for the chicken - i was slightly disappointed that it wasn't spicy in the slightest. However, it still tasted like it had a really nice flavor, and had a soft interior. WOW, WOW, and WOW!!! I've raved about El Camion before and I'm RAVING again! After a long week of work, I decided to treat myself for some tacos. I went at around 3pm today for "linner", and I couldn't have made a better choice. Usually I order the shrimp burrito or the camarones a la diabla (which btw is super spicy!). I've also gotten the plato mexicano with chicken and tamales. You can't go wrong with any of the above, but I was craving tacos and so I decided to give them a try. I ordered one fish taco (+$3.30), one pollo mole taco (+$3.25), and one taco with cochinita pibil (Yucatan seasoned pork) (+$2.90). On the receipt they called it a "3 Taco Plate" for $9.80 so I'm not sure why the total added up slightly more than the individual taco prices added together, but whatever. The other thing I love about El Camion is that they are enrolled in the Clover Rewards program (for every 60 pts (I think 1 point = $1), you get $5 off) and so I got my tacos for $4.80 plus tip and tax. Tbh I don't think I've had a dinner for under $5 in my entire life and so it made my experience just that much more enjoyable! I got my order within about 5-7 minutes of sitting down on their patio (which has heated seating- another score!). Note that if you come here during their normal lunch or dinner rush hours, you usually wait closer to 15- 20 minutes after ordering. The tacos were LOADED with protein and toppings- no cheap shredded cabbage fillers here! The corn tortillas had a great chewiness and didn't break under the weight of the toppings, granted that they double the tortillas. I liked that the tacos I ordered each had their own distinct personality and flavor; my taste buds definitely were not bored! The COCHINITA PIBIL (Yucatan seasoned pork) TACO took home the gold; the pork was tender, moist, and flavorful- everything that you could ask for, which is funny because it was also the cheapest of the tacos... supposedly. The FISH TACO took the silver; I really liked the smoky chipotle sauce drizzled on top (they call it crema agria especial which is different from mayonaise apparently); it definitely added a kick to the dish. The fish is grilled and while it was slightly dry, it still had good body and texture. It was topped with pico de gallo and cilantro adding a nice contrast in texture. Lastly, the MOLE POLLO TACO took the bronze; while it had a good sweet and savory balance, the consistency and taste almost reminded me of a less sweet BBQ sauce. Not sure how I felt about it, but I liked the avocado on top! I got the mortajado and verde salsas on the side. I've always liked their verde, but the mortajado (which I tried for the first time and is supposed to be one level spicier than their verde) fell flat for me. It was just too watery, but honestly my tacos had so many toppings and tastes that I didn't even really end up using the salsas. Service was great. Again, they can be kind of slow depending on the time of day that you go, but the staff members are always super friendly and upbeat.
