Went to Carmelo's Tacos on a hungry whim and ended up being so pleasantly surprised. The tortillas are freshly made and absolutely delicious and you can immediately taste the difference. They accidentally messed up part of our taco order, but the staff was incredibly kind about it. Not only did they quickly fix it, they also gave us an extra taco for free as an apology Totally unnecessary but very appreciated and such a nice gesture. Everything we ordered was delicious. The pollo burrito was flavorful and satisfying, the carne asada tacos were tender and packed with flavor, and the quesadilla had the perfect meat-to-cheese ratio. Yum!! Ordering through ubereats here was the worst experience ever. We were given an ETA for pick up and showed up on time. There was no clear line for online orders or ordering in person and the environment was chaotic and unorganized. I told the gentleman my name for the order and he said we're still working on it while walking away from me. I was told to step aside and waited over 30 minutes as I watched other folks order and grab their food in a timely manner. After some time, my food that was sitting on a shelf was given to me. Upon coming home and opening my food, I found that it was lukewarm and nearly cold. In addition to that, my order was wrong. Their phone number does not work so I had to come back in person to communicate their errors. They remade my food and gave me free chips and guacamole, but that doesn't change the fact that I wasted over 60 minutes of waiting and driving back and forth for a simple order of tacos. We went on a Friday evening and ordered right before the crowd hit. It got a little crazy with the line to the door, but they got orders out in a timely manner. We could tell it was going to be good with how busy they were! We were able to snag some tables to sit at inside. The food was so delicious. Quesabirria was on point. I have been coming to Carmelo's tacos for a while now I can never get tired of eating here. I even brought my family and they absolutely fell in love my top favorite to get is their Birria tacos with consome. They are so flavorful and they are full of meat you can get them with cheese or without cheese, crispy or soft either way they are delicious dip them into the consome for an extra kick. Their salsa Verde is my absolute favorite to pair with tacos de Asada they also have ice cream and churros tortas, burritos even breakfast items. I highly recommend everyone checks them out. Carmelo's can get busy sometimes, but I didn't have issues finding a seat this time (6pm on a thursday). There are two locations, but this is the one with indoor seating (which i prefer). The interior is clean + the food comes out very fast. I usually get the carne asada quesadilla to share and then al pastor tacos. Avoid this location at all costs if you are dining in or coming in person for takeout. It's basically a front for DoorDash orders and the poor staff there are overwhelmed by the crushing number of DoorDash orders and they literally ignore in-store orders until you start pestering them after waiting for 45 minutes and not seeing your food. Shame on the management for creating such stressful working conditions for the line cooks and front staff there. read more

I love coming here for the quesa birra. The quesa birria tacos are tasty and have a good meat ratio. I've tried both the crispy and soft tortilla versions, and I'd recommend the soft tortilla quesa birria. They have a slight crunch to them and are wayyy less oily than the crispy version. There are around 7 tables indoors and a couple outdoor tables. I've never had trouble finding a place to sit and eat, but if you happen to arrive during a rush, there may not be seating! read more

Pretty solid Mexican food tonight for dinner. Got two chicken tacos, one carne asada, and one sliced beef. All were delicious and tasted pretty authentic. Price wise after the horchata was added it was $25 per person so definitely a bit pricey since I probably can get two entire chipotle meals for the price of this one. Carmelos Tacos is a fairly solid taco restaurant, but I didn't think it was particularly exceptional. I came here with a fairly large group oon a weekend for lunch ordered the quesaburrias. They were able to make the food fairly quickly. The quesaburrias were nice and crunchy, and packed with nice gooey cheese. They came and came with 2 different salsas which i liked. They quesaburrias however were flavorful, but really oily. Overall, maybe I'll come back if I'm around but I probably won't be dying to do so. read more

My first time trying Carmelo's :) Al Pastor Tacos 4.5/5 Delicious marinated pork with all of the toppings like onions, cilantro, and pineapple! Carne Asada Tacos 3.5/5 I'll be honest, these didn't taste amazing to me. It tasted like salty beef. But not in a good way. I think the seasoning (not salt) needs to be stronger because it just tasted overly salty. Horchata 3/5 I LOVE Horchata but this wasn't good to me. It was very powdery and had a flavor felt off. The BEST Horchata I've ever had was at Tony's Tacos in Sacramento CA. Overall, not a bad experience. Glad to have tried this place. read more

I love coming here for their crispy quesabirrias!!! One order comes with three tacos stuffed with lots of cheese and birria (Mexican marinated beef) and served with a side of dipping broth, hot sauce, and avocado sauce. The meat is super tender and flavorful and I love that I always get a nice cheese pull when I bite into the taco. Service is always quick and friendly. They can get pretty busy and sometimes it's hard to find a seat because there are only 7-8 tables. There is also self serve water. I'm slowly coming around to the fact that Seattle does have good Mexican food, but you have to know where to look. Carmelo's is probably the best example. My wife got the tacos and I snagged a few bites. All the meats used are fantastic. I believe the tortillas are homemade and it really shows. Their condiments are also fantastic. We didn't get to choose but got a smoky salsa roja. I would love to try the verde next visit. IMO, the burrito is actually the best item for me. It's a generous portion and also really well made. The requisite rice, beans and tortilla are top notch. A perfect match for the al pastor, although I would ask them to omit pineapple next time. It's the right move for the tacos, but not what I want here. Also love that Carmelo's short five minute walk from the Capitol Hill light rail station. Heads up there is no dining area at this location, so just think of it as a taco truck that doesn't move. read more

Their other location In Cap Hill has quirk since it's located inside a grocery store, but this location is much neater with more seating AND parking. It isn't too far from their other location, but Google Maps identify this location as Central District. 3 tacos and a horchata will run you under $20 after tax + tip. This was a 2nd meal of the night as we were still hungry from the previous place, I'm sure if you ordered 5 tacos, that could easily be a filling meal instead of snack. The only taco that comes with pineapples are the al pastor tacos. We liked this place, but we all agree that we like Taco Chucki's better since they char their meat more. I had heard of this place by my son who attends Seattle U, and I was there to watch his soccer game and I thought this was an opportunity to see if this place was really that good. Well, it indeed does live up to what he and his friends have been telling me. The food quality was extremely good and the way that each taco is freshly made and the sauce on the meat is just a bit thicker than everyone else's sauce and just the right amount of zip to give the flavor. The pricing was fitting of being near a college campus. When all restaurants seem to have much higher prices, Carmelos keeps the pricing to a reasonable level. My biggest problem was that after I ate a couple of tacos, I still wanted more. I know that I will be coming back for more softball games, and I need to explore the rest of the menu. First, choose one from taco, torta, burrito, quesedilla or mulita. Next, choose your protein. They have two vegan options - Nopal & Mushroom. We ordered a taco and a mulita, each with a different vegan filling. The green and red sauce drizzled on the filling did the magic. Cactus and potatoes sauteed make a great combination. A burst of flavor with every bite. For the $ price, it was a lunch to relish and cherish! They also have different flavors of Jarritos and the usual coke and fanta. Al Pastor Mulita 4/5: the pineapple is cut small so it can be intermingled into each bite. The tortillas were crispy and held all the ingredients well. The pastor was soft and flavorful with the pineapple wish there was a bit more meat. Mushroom Mulita 4/5: different flavor than the pork, good texture on mushrooms they don't cut the shroom too small. I was a bit confused with the beans in the Mulita. Twas cheesed up but could do more, neither were spicy despite having salsa so no spice friendly flavor.
