Working with Chef Dee and Eboni was super easy. From our first phone consult where we talked about our vision for the wedding menu and how we could tweak her existing offerings to fit what we wanted, everything went really smoothly. We did an in-person tasting and even brought a friend with us to make sure we weren't being biased when deciding what was good and what wasn't. This was probably the most important part since whatever we picked during this session would be served at the wedding. We also had another tasting just for appetizers, which we picked up ourselves--no big deal. The appetizers came warm, and we got to try them with different sauces. The options were blackened chicken satay, brisket egg rolls, and crab wontons. One thing we wanted at the wedding was beignets, so we asked Chef Dee if she could make that happen. The dough hadn't risen in time, so she decided to have them delivered to our house (on the other side of Houston). Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would think that was a good idea. They arrived cold, and it was a strong "no" from us. That said, the food at the wedding was amazing. Trust me I am not the best communicator in the world and there were a lot of curve balls thrown at her the day of my wedding. She handled all obstacles with preciseness and a smile on her face. She cooked for my wedding which consisted of about 150 people and they all loved the food. The Chicken with the 5 cheeses was AMAZING.. Love love love. Thanks so much to D'Ambria and her crew for a fantastic party. Went above and beyond. She thought of all the details and we didn't miss a thing. We had it an event for 50 at our home and so setup and cleanup were key, and that went beautifully. Servers were professional, food was fresh and hot and SO good. We were able to choose a package from her list and adapt it to my particular and picky tastes. Presentation was awesome. My guests raved that it was the best party they'd been to. The menu was excellent and filling. We wanted to love Sophisticated Delights and we did until they actually served at our wedding. The tasting was a 5 star experience with the owner herself. She really wowed us with not only an amazing plate but her friendliness and openness about her business and how she likes her employees to conduct themselves. For a year we raved about the dinner that our guest were going to eat. We promised them a meal with flavor like they never tasted before. Fast forward to the wedding day. Even with communicating everyday up until the day of the wedding to ensure everyone understood what I wanted/expected things went terribly wrong. We hired an extra server, with the point of this extra server to ensure no one was left waiting for a drink refill or served cold food. Well, the food was cold and I don't mean not hot just warm, I mean ICE COLD. You ever have a steak cold? How about grilled snapper? It does not taste right. We also were served our cold food 30 minutes late, they didn't follow simple instructions of tucking the silverware inside the napkins I folded so they wouldn't touch the table. On top of that the chef was RUDE and ARGUMENTATIVE with the BRIDE and the waitstaff had attitudes. We went from being excited and ready for the meal we dreamed about for a year from our tasting to leaving the table not touching the food while our guests attempted to smile through eating their cold plates. The day after our event I reached out to D'Ambria, the owner, directly. For the first time in the year that I have been communicating with her she responded the same day. She was defensive and had excuses for everything. She even had the audacity to tell me that they peeled off the bread on the kids meals because "it fell off during transport" even though we have pictures with the obvious grill lines. She refuses to refund any of her mistakes and will only give us a partial refund if we sign a NON-DISCLOSURE. Yep, you read that right. The only way this company will right their mistakes is by making you sign a gag order so no other person can know your experience. During our phone conversation she actually started crying on the phone to MANIPULATE my husband! As soon as I took the phone back and started talking the tears would stop! I even found out after our phone conversation that my mother-in-law spoke to the caterer that night and told them how bad things were. D'Ambria herself admitted she new that night things went wrong but I was still the one reaching out to her. To say the least I DO NOT recommend this company. It's obvious now they say and/or do whatever possible to book an event but they have no follow through. Everything was great. From our tasting to all the extra help with finding linens and setting up. Also during the wedding the extra attention we got was amazing. Always felt like family. The food was great, nothing but compliments from my guest. Our wedding was originally postponed due to Hurricane Harvey, but D'ambria stuck with us. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The fact the the chef argued with the bride in front of the guests on her wedding day is unacceptable and very unprofessional. On top of that the food came out cold and 30 minutes late. When paying thousands of dollars for food you expect to have a good experience that you can reflect on for years to come. Unfortunately, this company provided the bride, groom, and guests with a horrible dining experience. Many plates were left full of food and people went hungry. The owner and staff do not care about the customer experience. They just take the money and run. I would not recommend this company or owner. Very unethical and unprofessional. I would just like to preface this by saying that I have never posted any review online but I feel compelled to in this situation because of what a bad experience we had. We saw this company had great reviews online and was close by, so we had them cater a bridal shower we hosted the Saturday after Thanksgiving for 20 people and chose the Hors D'oeuvres Bronze Package. The pluses: the food was good, we could customize the menu and the price was right. I started noticing some red flags and a lack of attention to detail when I would email D'Ambria questions and she responded always missing 1 or 2 questions which I had to follow up on. I should have listened to my gut at the time but I trusted the good reviews and brushed it off as it was a busy holiday week. The day of the event, D'Ambria told me her employee would be arriving 30 minutes before the event to set up. It was such a short set up time, I wrongly assumed it was because the 4 hors d'oeuvres were already warm and prepared. It was 30 minutes before the event and the employee had not arrived. The status updates from D'Ambria about her employee's ETA were completely unapologetic. The employee finally showed up 15 minutes late, which was 15 minutes before our whole event began, also unapologetic. Some of our early bird guests and I who were all in heels helped her unload her car. I find out it will be much longer than 15 minutes to set up, so I pitch in to help instead of focusing on hosting the event. It was 15 minutes after the event officially began and everyone had arrived and we did not even have the fruit and cheese plate out. It was probably 45 minutes after the event began that a tiny plate of food came out and 2-3 guests were able to eat. It was so embarrassing for an otherwise beautiful event. I wish D'Ambria had informed me how long it would take to set up and we would have been happy to pay for extra set up time if it was not included in our package so that everything was ready to go and presentable when our guests arrived. And then her employee being late on top of that was just unacceptable to us. The bad service and lack of attention to detail did not end there. I put all of this on the business owner and not the employee who I think did her best given the situation. -1 of the 2 non-alcoholic drinks she "includes" in her packages is her client's own tap water. How can you include something in your package that costs nothing? How can you include something in your package that is not yours? Maybe what she should indicate instead is that her packages include 1 non-alcoholic drink and 1 pitcher to hold her client's tap water. Also her employee was so late that she did not even have time to set the water pitcher out until almost the end of the party when I asked her to. -Neither of the 2 kinds of grapes on the fruit and cheese plate were washed. I even asked her employee about it when I noticed the grapes looked a little dusty as I was carrying the serving dish out, and she said they were washed. When I went to eat one later they had clearly never been washed. -1 of the mango ceviche bowels did not have a serving spoon. -There were still bar code stickers on some of the silverware. -There was no thought on the presentation of the food whatsoever. Maybe that was because of how late her employee was, but I was the one who had to bring the plates, silverware, napkins, and food to the table after the party began, and her employee never arranged anything. I was hesitant to post this review, especially for a small local business, but after emailing D'Ambria all of these complaints after the event, her responses and justifications made it clear to me that this is how she normally operates her business, and I wanted others to know so that they could avoid a similar experience. read more

We found Dambria and Sophisticated Delights after a failed catering tasting. We were so pleased with the tasting and the packages she offers. We had a cheese stuffed chicken, potatoes, green beans, shrimp and grits, and 3 appetizers. I still have people telling me how yummy the food was. I hosted a last minute small dinner party for my mother's birthday. I literally gave 24 hours notice.. Dambria worked with me to customize my menu and the cost was less than I expected for a delivered, catered meal..The food was wonderful! I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and veggie lasagna... Both were a hit! The prosciutto wrapped asparagus was awesome! And the Bruschetta was perfect! The portions were huge! After feeding 6 adults and two kids, there was still plenty to share! We hired Sophisticated Delights to cater our wedding and we are so glad we did! From the initial email to the day of, D'Ambria and her team went above and beyond to make everything as easy as possible for us and the food was so darn good!!
