Dr Mekuria is EXCELLENT. she is conservative, takes an excellent medical history, listens and issues reasonable and appropriate interventions. I first went in June after noting I had a sudden and unexpected increase in my BP readings. I am a long-distance cycling, runner and am VERY FIT, so this was unusual. I had an abnormal ECG upon my first visit along with the persistent elevated BP reading. i was kinda a "zebra". so she ordered that i undergo a Cardiac CT a 2D echo and carotid ultrasound to further investigate. i did all that (with the dedicated and personalized assistance of her front office staff. Long story short, I have a very slightly enlarged heart due to my exercise conditioning, but i also had new onset hypertension which required medication. We mutually discussed the best med which would work while not interfering with my very very active lifestyle. so far so good and my numbers are trending downward and the med may need further tweaking. This office is ORGANIZED, communicates well, no drama and very flexible and personable in helping all folks of all walks of life. It is a smaller practice- I fond this to be a HUGE positive factor. I…read morewent in for a physical recently with a new Doctor and talked about my desire to get back in the gym and lose some weight - I've been experiencing some conditions that led me to worry about my cardiovascular health. So I was scheduled for a Nuclear Stress Test. They inject a radioactive isotope into your cardiovascular system - then use a special imaging system to capture imagery of your heart and cardiovascular system. Then they put you on a treadmill, hook up a bunch of sensors to you, get your heart rate up to 148, then inject another round of radioactive isotope into your system - then re-image you a second time. After you get off the treadmill, you are then allowed to eat some snacks and drink juice or water which they provide. The two ladies who were the nurse technicians who ran me through the sequence of steps were very nice. They warn you to expect to be there 3-4 hours - I got out in 2.5 hours. My results came back today and no problems were found - so onto the gym!

This is a heart care facility and it is run by John Hopkins Community Physicians Heart Care. I know that you probably aren't supposed to comment about the decor in a doctor's office, but it was decorated for the holidays with warmth and whimsy. It really does take your mind off going in for a test. I am used to seeing my cardiologist, but he wasn't overseeing this test. The doctor I saw today was very nice. But, definitely not warm and comforting like Dr. Kumkumian. The technician who was also helping with the test was very nice too. She was very supportive. So, in summary, the office is a very efficient and professional heart care team. I recommend them for their care and expertise.

It feels inappropriate to give a general reference. I will limit this response to "it's a more convenient way for those not living near Baltimore to be able to see JH approved physicians. It is difficult securing appointments when needed- they are in high demand. Would like to see more immediate availability and more tenured doctors to select without needing to drive to Baltimore. Otherwise, JH has been a blessing for me.

Every single time (3) I have left this office it has been either severely injured, or crying…read more First, they burnt through multiple layers of my skin doing an at home heart monitor that was put on incorrectly and I still have the scars today. Secondly, the doctor told me I was fat because I gained 30 pounds out of no where due to medication and didn't have a heart problem (later diagnosed by another cardiologist with an actual brain with POTS, so go figure). Third time went in for a same day surgical clearance and for the first time in my 8-9 surgeries they wanted a chemical stress test, and a echocardiogram in order to clear me. Further delaying, cancelling my surgery. These tests are unnecessary, they're ridiculous. They go AGAINST guidelines, and the doctors there know that. I have been a patient for about 6 years and have never has any issues with the staff, billing, or…read moreappointments. I schedule my next appointment before I leave the office. My last 2 appointments have been either cancelled or rescheduled without any warning. I showed up for an appointment (I made 6 months in advance) to be told I did not have one. My current appointment was just rescheduled to another date/time/person 3 days prior to the appointment. When I called to find out what was going on I was told that I had cancelled my appointment several weeks ago (not true). With further questioning, I was told that Stephanie - who my appointment is with was no longer with them. So THEY moved my appointment without calling me. She insisted that they had called me, to which I again replied that I did NOT cancel or reschedule my appointment and had not received any phone calls regarding my appointment, I had only gotten my confirmation text message with the new date/time/person and that they needed to figure it out. I was also told that I have an 'outstanding bill' from 2018, which is also NOT TRUE. As a 2x a year patient, you'd think if there were a billing issue I would know about it sooner than 6 years LATER. I will give this office one more shot because I have had good care, but will move to another practice if this happens again.
