I was so eager to return since the last visit was fantastic!!!! Today was mediocre at best. The chips were over fried and dark. My papusa was only cooked on one side and white and soggy on the other. My chicken taquitos was fine. My companion's Birria tacos were soggy and not nearly as delicious as last time. What happened Soriano? Ordered a tamale and cheese enchilada combo that came with rice and beans. First the guacamole was very good. It was cold and seasoned well. The enchilada was very good as were the beans and rice. The pork tamale was so/so, lacked flavor and it was small - although the proportions were good. The margarita was really good, large and strong. The food is Salvadoran and Mexican. We ordered the Malibu Shrimp appetizer, which is coconut-breaded shrimp served with mango sauce ($8.50). I also ordered the soft taco with asada ($3.75), and my husband ordered the Pupusas Revuletas, which is a pupusa (thick griddle cake) with peppers, onions, tomatoes. I thought the shrimp was a bit overcooked, the coating being a deep brown rather than a golden brown, and a bit too crunchy. The mango sauce was okay, but not a lot of flavor. If you haven't tried Soriano's in Diamond Springs, you owe it to yourself along your friends and family to give them a try. I had the seafood Chimichangas, my wife had Carnitas What did you have, our daughter had Flautas, or 5 year old grandson had the largest Burrito I've even seen in a restaurant while our 6 year old granddaughter had soft tacos. Everything we ordered was perfect. The portions were surprisingly generous and a good value. In a time when most restaurants are downsizing their portion size for customers, we had enough for lunch the following day. My wife and I have been frequent visitors to Puerto Vallarta in Cabo San Lucas Mexico over the years, while our daughter attended college and lived in San Diego for ten years. Our dining experience has made us critical of a lot of Northern California Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, you can find good Mexican restaurants if you look but Soriano's is a standout that will save you the trouble of looking any further. The service was impeccable. We weren't hovered over and never interrupted during our meal yet we didn't have to wait or look for anything. Our waiter seemed to anticipate our needs and was always available which just added to a perfect, casual dining experience. That's not always easy with small children. The atmosphere is casual and perfect for families with children or dinner for just Nana and Papa (us). The staff was friendly, the service was perfect, the portions were generous, the food was excellent and authentic. You can't ask for more from a family owned restaurant. We live in El Dorado Hills and decided to try Soriano's based on its great reviews. It didn't disappoint! The tortilla soup was fresh, flavorful and had lots of avocado and just enough kick. The chile relleno, which was hidden on the menu and generally hard to find served anywhere, was fabulous. Tacos quesobirria were loaded with shredded beef and cheese and the sauce was excellent. And the chile verde melted in your mouth. On top of the good food, the staff is very warm and attentive. This is clearly a family business that takes a lot of pride in their work. The atmosphere is, well... a taqueria. But for a fun tasty family dinner it was a perfect spot for us. We'll be back soon. read more

I am super pleased and surprised at this restaurant. We pass by it here and there but I never thought to go in and try the foods as we have other options closer to home. We came here on a Wednesday at noon and there was no one. That made me a little wary and throughout lunch only two other tables came in. But service was wonderful! Kind, patient, attentive. We ordered the carnitas platter and the lamb based on the pictures on their windows. I thought maybe they wouldn't have the lamb. They did. I thought maybe it wouldn't be a popular menu so the lamb might be tough or taste freezer burned. It wasn't! So meals come with complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa needs a touch more salt but it was nice. My lamb was extremely saucy (look at pic). I admired the way the server didn't spill any of it as his hands were shaking, ha! The lamb was so tender. Tasted great! Not too games, not old, not freezer burned. The sauce was nice though I didn't need all of it. I don't even like beans but they tasted great, warm and cheesy and also dipped with chips. BD's carnitas were delicious. Tender and soft. He raved about it. He also likes their pupusas. I got to try the Birria. Also yummy! Friend's enchiladas looked great. She enjoyed it. Yes, it's really awfully good. One small point, when I was there today at ten they told me that the actually open at 8:30 so you might want to check if you want to go there for coffee and breakfast as I did this morning. Everything I've had there was really good, the chili relleno, the puposa, the street tacos (I did think the lengua was chopped a bit too fine) and I especially liked something called quesobirria, I think it was. Anyway, there's a picture in the window and it's very good. Spacious with comfortable booths and a big parking lot in back and very nice service. What's not to like? read more
