Transgender men are allowed to use the women's bathroom at the Larkspur Community Center in Bend,…read moreOregon, as they can access facilities that align with their gender identity. This policy is part of broader efforts to ensure equal access for transgender individuals in public spaces. However, this is not in the membership contract, so I was not made aware until after the fact. If biological women are uncomfortable undressing in front of a male dressed as a woman in women's locker room, biological women are told they can dress in a private bathroom set aside. So biological women in essence get kicked out of the designated female bathroom to accommodate the female wannabe delusions. Frankly, I do not even want to take my grand daughter in the female bathroom, and expose them to a man's delusions of feeling like they are a woman. It should be that he is the one that should dress or use the private bathroom, if he is not comfortable in his true gender bathroom. Once again, biological women are discriminated against, and treated as 2nd class citizens. Fine, if that is the way management wants it, my family and I have canceled our membership. I am not using the female bathroom if I have to deal with a man wannabe women while I am bathing or dressing. By the way, again, there was nothing in the contract I signed for membership that made me aware of this. Management had better put this in the contract and make biological females aware that they will have to cope with men in the women's bathroom. I actually only found this out when I walked in to change, and there was a man dressed as a woman in the biological female bathroom.

We love coming here on our annual trip to Sunriver! The pool is a great place to take kids off all…read moreages. They've got a baby pool area which is for kids under 5. It includes a splash pad/water play area. They also have a larger splash pad open to all ages. Their main pool has a zero depth entry so it's perfect for little ones to sit and play! On the deep end of the pool they have these two giant blow-up sharks that kids can climb and sit on, and they have a series of floating platforms you can try to balance and cross without falling in the pool. They also have a lazy river and two huge water slides (which have a minimum height requirement of 42" and 48"). Lastly, there is an indoor pool with lots of different amenities if you need a break from the sun. It's quite the facility! It does get quite crowded though since it's the only pool in all of Sunriver. That's my only complaint. I feel like if they could build a couple more pools then it wouldn't be so crowded. It would also be nice if they had a little bit more shade. They also have nice locker rooms/bathrooms, including a couple family restrooms. The food place is decently good. It's mostly fried food and barbecue but that's pretty much what you'd expect at a giant resort like the SHARC.

One of my biggest concerns was how situations with residents were handled. I had an experience with a resident and when I went to my manager about it, I was told it was my fault. I thought that was very unprofessional--especially since if I had actually done something wrong, I would've been written up or gotten in trouble. Another major issue was the cleanliness upstairs where Thelma's Place is. Me and a coworker discovered how unsanitary it was. We even found mold growing inside the kids' water bottles, which the kids were actively drinking from. When I asked my coworker if we should say something, she told me she already had--and that management didn't care. To make things worse, I was told one of the manager's daughters is the boss of Thelma's Place, so nothing gets addressed. I had multiple pictures of the mold in those cups. Please, please, PLEASE check your children's water bottles and belongings if they go here. Staff was only scheduled to clean upstairs once a week, meaning water sat in the cups for days at a time. Parents deserve to know what's really going on. They treated their staff terribly too, they had fired a kid and went around telling everyone he was "worthless"..

Seeing how the seniors interact with the children of the new intergenerational child care program has been humbling to witness. Thelma's Place participants engage in activities that stimulate memory and physical movement, as well as community integration that involves field trips to places like the high desert museum, the library, breweries, farms, and more. I would recommend both seniors and children to participate in Thelma's Place Day Respite Center and Whoopsy Daisy Child Care because there are so many opportunities for the young and the old to build understanding and meaningful relationships that encourage positive development for all participants.
