I hired SOS Plumbing in 2025 for a water heater replacement and paid over $2,200, expecting a professional, code-compliant installation. Less than a year later, while selling my home, the St. Louis County occupancy inspection failed because their installation contained clear code violations, including a missing required expansion tank and a non-compliant flex connector. When I contacted SOS Plumbing, the owner told me he intentionally didn't install the required expansion tank because he was "trying to save me some money" and didn't know I was planning to sell my home. Instead of taking responsibility for the code violations, he quoted me another $800-900 to correct his own work. I refused to pay twice for the same job and hired another licensed plumbing company, paid an additional $750 to bring the installation into compliance. A homeowner shouldn't have to tell a licensed plumber they're planning to sell their home to receive a code-compliant installation. Paying premium prices should mean getting professional work done correctly the first time--not paying someone else to fix it later. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend SOS Plumbing and would urge anyone considering to think twice before trusting these 5 star reviews! Update: Since business owner replied(pretty classic "defensive rewrite of history" response): Just to be clear. please don't reframe "code compliance" as optional upgrades. Those are not "nice-to-have upgrades". they're required for compliant installation. And please stop that "budget priority" claim. That is not true. Don't try to justify omissions on your end. did not request a non-compliant installation or decline required code-compliance work. At no point was I informed that the installation would not pass occupancy inspection or that required code items were being excluded from the work performed. The water heater installation later failed occupancy inspection during the sale of my home, requiring additional work to bring it into compliance. While scope and pricing were discussed, I relied on a licensed contractor to complete a code-compliant installation and to clearly communicate any items required for compliance at the time of service. It is not reasonable to expect a homeowner to independently identify or approve hidden code deficiencies during what was represented as a standard installation. I was not seeking a "budget" or stripped-down installation. If cost-cutting was the primary expectation, I would have chosen a different contractor. The equipment installed was a Bradford White unit, which is a professional-grade water heater, not a low-cost or economy product. I specifically chose to go with this business because they have a premium brand unit available and I know this is not a budget big box store option. So please stop bringing up that "budget" claim. The business's response is misleading and not consistent with what was communicated or agreed upon at the time of service. I called Robert at 9:30 in the morning and he was at my house at 1:00 pm the same day. I had a pipe that was leaking in my basement he assess the situations. He gave me some options and what the cost would be with each option. The price for the job was lower then what I thought it was going to be. A simple request for a bid was declined. They didn't even respond after requesting pics from me until I followed up. UPDATE: Of course it was out of working hours. I have a job to pay for being alive. I didn't expect a response at 9 pm. I DID expect a response any time before 2 pm the next day, 6 hours into your day after you requested photos. Then you lied and said it was out of scope. Then you saw my review and texted a change to your response saying you're too booked. I indicated flexibility on the date in your questionnaire, so time of work isn't an issue. It DOES seem that you have plenty of time to monitor my Yelp review the same day. Excellent work!! Had a leakage between the tank, and bowl. I did notice the tank to bowl gasket protruding when you look down the flush valve. Robert arrived and he and his assistant looked at it. Robert showed me how the gasket was crushed!! They replaced the gasket, tested to see if there were any leaks. read more

I had a great experience with SOS plumbing! We recently had one of our toilets start to leak and even though we tried to repair it ourselves, it turns out the tank was just cracked and nothing we could do could fix that! We ordered a new toilet online and when it arrived, I called SOS plumbing and left a message. Within minutes, Robert called me back and we began to schedule a time for them to come out to install the toilet. Believe it or not, they were available the next day! He was super friendly and made sure to get all of my information. I asked for a quote and he said it would be anywhere from $165-180 for the install, that didn't seem too bad to me since I knew that we could not do it ourselves. When the guys arrived, they were friendly and began working immediately. Robert and Stephen removed the old toilet and when I asked if I could clean the floor once they removed the old toilet; they even offered to wipe it down for me as long as I could give them the cleaning products; score! They did the job quickly and efficiently and the new toilet looks great! I highly recommend calling SOS if you need any plumbing assistance; they are the real deal and even offer a 30 day warranty on their install work. I had a leak under my kitchen sink and some water in the basement. Robert came out very quickly to provide a quote. He told me that I should contact the company that installed my water filter under the sink because it was under warranty. The water in the basement would require the water heater replaced and blocks put in (water was coming from the ground). He explained that I could wait a bit, which I chose because I didn't have money for that kind of project at the time. I really appreciate that I didn't have to pay for the quote and he was honest. Months later, the sewer pipe in the basement had water bubbling up from the ground. I called around 6:00pm and the next morning he was out at 9:00am. He and another guy snaked the drain that goes from the yard to the street (sewer lateral). They did it quickly, and I felt the price was fair. Days after that, a pipe under my sink popped off. They came out right away and repaired it. While they were there, I asked if they could fix the low water pressure. Sure enough, that was fixed too. Then I asked about fixing the loose handle on the kitchen sink and Robert tightened it up. I really appreciate the fair pricing, quick responses, and quality work. Renovating our kitchen and went from a double sink to a single and needed to rehook up our sink plumbing and dishwasher. Robert was the first to respond to my request here on Yelp. But since SOS didn't have any reviews, I was a bit skeptical. Decided at first to go with a company with lots of highly rated reviews. The first quote we got (after a $50 service charge) was $985. So we decided to contact Robert, since they come to your house for a quote free of charge. Robert and SOS were not only much more reasonable in terms of price, but fast and helpful, letting us know all we needed to do to rehook up our dishwasher was get a new hose. I so appreciate the honesty, instead of charging us for something we could've done ourselves. SOS Plumbing was the quickest plumber I have ever had come out to us. We found a leak under the sink which looked to be a broken garbage disposal. I sent out a message that I needed a plumber and he came out the next afternoon - on a Saturday! When he came out, he found out that the pipes had not been completely tightened and was causing a leak. He only charged us $100 for coming out and tightening the pipes for us. Wow! Super impressed with SOS Plumbing! My kitchen faucet was leaking and my garbage disposal sounded like it was grinding metal and needed to be replaced. They showed up within a couple of hours of my panicked call (early!) and fixed my faucet, installed a new disposal and even replaced a shower head that was so corroded I couldn't remove it. Robert was professional and responsive on the phone, and in person when he arrived as scheduled 2 days later to perform the work. I know COVID is making it challenging to have office staff take calls, respond to inquiries and such, however, even with some of the larger plumbing service companies they weren't returning my inquiry call for 3 - 4 days!
