I've been coming to Soul Bowls since the food truck days and have continued to support the business. Over the past few months, though, I'm not sure what's going on, but the service seems to be declining. There have been several occasions where we've placed our order, waited while others come in after us, place their orders, get their items, and leave before us. When I ask about it, I just get, "Oh, sorry." Almost as if I'm annoying or bothering them for asking. Then, when we finally got our order and were leaving, one of the staff members made a face and rolled her eyes at me. I honestly didn't even notice it, but my 8-year-old son asked, "Mummy, why did the girl make that face at you and roll her eyes?" Another time, I came in about 30 minutes before closing to place an order and was told, "Oh, we've already cleaned up." On another visit, I shared that both of my sons have peanut allergies. I had to remind the person making the bowls to please be mindful about cross-contamination, and she seemed annoyed by the reminder. Unfortunately, both of my boys ended up having allergic reactions. I've always bragged about Soul Bowls to family when they visit. I take them there, recommend it to my coworkers, and have often talked about how great it is. I've placed orders over $100, and I even got my husband hooked on the warm bowls and juices. That's why it's disappointing to say that, lately, things seem to be changing, and my recent experiences have been going downhill. To the owner: I hope you'll consider being more present and staying close to what's happening at this location, not just when you're there, but when you're not. Such a cute shop right off a major highway, and also easily accessible from the side roads. Set in a little strip it is easy enough to be find parking outside. These bows OMG are huge. But I can also say that their açaí bowls were better than the three other places I've been to within 6 miles. They were also packed better with the right size bowl. Fruits cut to perfect bite size. Yummy & refreshing! The juice was thick -- they must've put ice -- which we weren't expecting, but it was yummy. The bowl was pretty good. The banana base was delicious. The açaí was very smooth & different from others I've had but good. The peanut butter tasted a bit strange to me -- quite thick, if that makes sense. It did not taste like natural PB but I could be wrong. I wish Soul Bowls had almond butter. Our order took about 10-15 min to come out & the workers were very sweet. This is not my go to açaí bowl place, but I tend to come back to this place every now and again because it's still a good one. I ordered the Stay Classy (size small, which was plenty) and they forgot the blueberries. While they were missed, I'm not gonna make a fuss about it. It comes down to the açaí and the granola when you're judging how good a bowl is, in my opinion. Can't really mess up fruit. Anyway- Soul Bowls: *açaí: a thick consistency that isn't too sweet. I always prefer the thicker kind of açaí over the smoothie base. *granola: it has a nice chew to it and there is a good ratio of granola to açaí going on. Plus the flavor is pretty good. *fruit: very fresh, but I'm not a fan of how it is cut. The strawberries are in all different cuts, which I know is annoying to complain about, but I've had a lot of açaí bowls so I start to notice small things lol. I ordered an "Island Blend" juice, which is supposed to be carrot, orange, apple, mango, and lime. I watched the server remove the skin from a whole orange and put it into the juicer, along with a handful of carrots. So far, so good, so I glanced away, but looked back a minute later to see her transfer the juice to a blender, add ice cubes and two scoops of white powder. WTF? I was confused, but didn't say anything. When I tried to drink it, it tasted disgusting, like orange chalk. I struggled with a few more sips, then threw it in the garbage. Tried a few of these bowls for the first time this weekend. I got a kids banana based bowl with pineapple, nutella, strawberries and a small half pitiya half acai with pineapple, bananas, strawberries. And a small almond joy bowl. It was a nice day so we sat outside. Once we ordered we were told 20-25 min until the order was ready. Since I was starving I went to the pizza shop next door. The tables outside we're the cleanest but I always carry wipes. After 32 min of waiting and not hearing my name being called or my food brought out like others, I went in and they had my stuff packed up. The bowls were vibrant and the fruit was sweet. My fav was the acai. The banana based bowl I did not like. The bananas had an after taste I did not like but the consistency was pike pudding. Never having pitiya before, it reminded me of water melon and I don't like watermelon either, but the color was spectacular. The almond in bowl was very sweet but enjoyable for my sister. I didn't fancy their "nutella" either, it was their own version which was find but not what I expected when i asked for nutella. All in all, I will come back and try another acai bowl. Saw on their instagram this weekend they were having a special called "Summer Sunset" and RUSHED to get it. The bowl had three bases: açaí, pitaya, and a brand new base with mango and pinneapple purée that tasted just like sorbet. I'm not a fan of granola so I asked for mine without Soulnola so mine looks a little different but the bowl was AMAZING. I don't know if it was only offered for the weekend but if not, I suggest you go in and get yourself one because it was the tastiest thing I have ever had. Love this place so much!! We were both pleased with the price since this is slightly cheaper than competitors like playa bowl. The base is almost an ice cream consistency compared to other shops that use almost a smoothie bowl. The base was delicious. Not a super huge fan of the Soulnola since it tasted very much like coconut and got very soggy, but overall the bowl was delicious. This is probably my favorite juice bar in town. The acai and pitaya are the best I've tried and they are very flexible with their menu. They always let me substitute certain fruits for others.
