Went on a Friday late afternoon after arriving from New Mexico for a ski trip when they had a halibut fish fry special. Very, very good. I highly recommend. Wow! What a great place to grab a good beer! They have so many options to choose from for locally made beer! Great atmosphere with an awesome food truck outside slinging some delicious food. Found this gem while at Rails and Ales event! Their coconut stout is like drinking ice cream! Delicious! Sadly this flavor is not yet available in bombers yet, and i didn't want to risk a growler back to denver. Hubby loves the green chili beer they had and those come in bombers, so half the couple got some beer to go! We got some tastes and then i enjoyed a glass of my fav, and hubby his! The covered patio with a wall to block the street noise is nice! There was a delicious food truck for us to get lunch from! So wish they were closer! We were staying in Salida for the night and looking for somewhere to hang out. Soulcraft was right down the street from our hotel so it was an easy decision. The service was great and quick and they let you sample any beer you want before you commit to it. We had a couple of beers - the IPA and the Chili beer. Stopped in here to pick up some beer for our friends who offered to watch our cat while we were out of town. We stopped by Elevation and considered getting beer to-go there, but figured we'd give some love to a newer brewery as well. Apparently, Soulcraft used to be named Hubbub Brewing, not sure why the change but don't let it confuse you! This place was pretty empty compared to Elevation, which by comparison was absolutely packed when we got there around 4pm on a Sunday. Not sure if they are just not as well known - might also be that there was no food truck, while there were two at Elevation. Anyways, the emptiness had me worried that the beer was no good, so I was pleasantly surprised! We tried the lemon wheat, the mocha oatmeal stout, the coconut milk stout, the green chile ale, and the Type 2 Pale Ale. I liked the coconut stout the best, which is a close second in the coconut beer category to my beloved Broken Compass in Breckenridge. E really liked the green chile ale, which had both great smell and flavor, and the Type 2 Pale Ale, which was a nice smooth hop. The bartender thought it was too hoppy for a pale but I thought it was one of the milder pales I've had recently! We both thought the lemon, though great in concept, tasted a bit like floor cleaner, and the mocha stout was just okay - not a lot of chocolate flavor. We settled on a growler of coconut porter for our friends, who enjoyed it! I'd totally be up for trying these guys out again and seeing what else they have in store. Also, bombers are available of Type 2 and the Green Chile at pretty reasonable prices, and their growler fills are fairly priced as well. I definitely see us stopping in for some camp beer on our way to a few 14ers this summer :) read more

My friend and I decided to venture outside of downtown Salida to this brewery bc we had BOGO drinks on the mountain passport. The bartender was amazingly kind. She was friendly and let us get a larger size option than the passport stated. My gose was so good and tasted like juice. My friend found her hazy IPA too hoppy. Best accidental stop I've ever had. This restaurant/bar was amazing all around. The chili burger with aioli was delicious with unique flavor profiles. I would 100% recommend the truffle fries as they live up to their expectations and beyond. To sum up this brewery in 1 word...uncompromising. Had a crazy day on the mountain, up since 3:30 am. All I wanted at the end of my day was a beer and a meal. I thought Soulcraft would fit the bill. Walked in to maybe 35% capacity, sat at the bar. Sat there for 10 minutes and was completely ignored. Not a single acknowledgement of my existence. Basically the worst customer service possible. This "business" is an absolute joke and I won't be surprised if it's gone within a year. They will never get a dime of my money, and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place at all cost. read more

Holy wow, the beer is fabulous. The Sticky Pils is bright, highly-hopped, with a drop-dead, over-and-out finish that lingers only long enough to make you want another gulp. The Low Viz hazy pale is hoppy, juicy, and very drinkable. The blackberry lime Gose is essentially alcoholic Kool-Aide -- I can't think of a better quencher after a day on the trails. On the night I ate there, the food truck outside served up some mighty fine Guatemalan/Mexican fare. The place flat-out rocks. During my four-night stay in Salida, I made endless excuses to pedal over for a pint, and it's the kind of place where you can do just that; you don't have to make a day or an evening out of it (although you easily can) -- the staff is super-friendly, there's not a whiff of beer-snob pretension, and the quality exceeds expectations by a WIDE margin. On a side note: one thing to get used to about Salida is that places close a little early -- it's not really a party town, so plan accordingly. I found it to be a refreshing change. read more

When the wicked witch from Tx Kicked out the good brewer for the honest comments of his wife, killed Il Vicino and replaced it with crap, we were out a place to have good beer. The other local place was horrible. These guys appear to have absorbed some of the very recognizable recipes that came from the brewer the wicked witch fired. We know the recipes intimately. The beer is a bit inconsistent, but good most of the time. They have a wide variety of styles for those of you who do not live by the Reinheitsgebot and like that unpure sour stuff. They have events and music and host local groups for meetings. It's a good place to visit with outdoor seating on rt. 50 and a view of the peaks. read more

I don't have any complaints about the beer or brewery side. The food is good, when they have what you want. A good portion of their already limited menu is often not available, which is what it is, I guess. More disappointing was ordering online. I ordered the quinoa and buckwheat salad. Online there was an option to add sweet potatoes, so I did. When I arrived I was told they have never had sweet potatoes, it must be an error. Okay, not a huge deal, they gave me the extra $2 back I had paid for them. I got back to my desk to open my salad only to find NO quinoa and NO buckwheat and that the salad had cucumbers (which is not listed and I for some reason cannot eat without getting heartburn). So for $11 I got a half a head of romaine lettuce, a couple tablespoons of corn and poblano, some tomatoes and a ton of cucumbers. If they did not have what they needed to make the salad they could have told me when they let me know about the sweet potatoes because I would have told them just to keep it. It went in the trash and was a waste of my time and money. I would not recommend the online ordering option and would not rely on the place to have much worth eating if you are looking to do so during your visit. read more

He's a clearly marked and vested legitimate service dog for my disabled veteran husband. But they didn't care to know that information, we were simply told we weren't welcome. You can tell this brewery is still figuring it out after being open only a year. My boyfriend and I both got flights, but the only one we really liked was the coconut porter. Stopped in for a couple of beers after a day of whitewater rafting. They had a nice beer garden where we enjoyed a few of their beers and relaxed. My husband and I have a brewery passport and we decided to make the drive here from Denver to get our stamp from this place. The hours listed on google maps that they close everyday at 10pm. We arrived at 8:20 and the sign on the door said they closed at 9pm. When we walked inside, the bartender said they had been slow and they were closed. We had just drove over 2 hours to get to this place. When we explained that to the bartender, she said she would gladly serve us and she would clean up around us. I was thinking we were going to get crappy service and she was going to rush us, but that couldn't of been further from the truth. She was so friendly and talked to us most of the time. I wish I would've got her name. The beers were ok. But that's just my opinion. My husband really enjoyed them. I am new to the beer scene. I like wheat beers and Hefeweizens. And they only had 1 wheat beer. I would of originally gave this place 3 stars because of the contradicting hours of business and not having a beer that I loved.. but the bartender made up for it.. I would want to come back just to hang out with her again.. read more
